  • Today I am installing a quick switch to the VDC/ TCS module in the center console of the Z to act as a kill switch. This allows the car to be tracked without issues or fear of the traction system kicking in when doing burnouts, drifting or track use in general and sending your car into a wall.
    This does 100% disables the system so please be careful and do not use this on the street. TRACK only gents.

    To anybody doing this: DO NOT press your brakes while disengaging the yaw sensor. It’ll give a pretty violent clunk and engage the brakes at a good capacity for a moment.

    Thank you for taking the time to make this. I noticed your ABS light turned on when you switched it back to “on” I’m guessing your ABS actually did turn off and maybe your brake lights don’t even work. But that only happened after you switched it to on. When you turn it to off ABS is still working?

    • @Z33Garage
      @Z33Garage  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah if you switch it back on the ABS gets a fault which is why the light came on. I didn't check of the brake lights or abs was technically functioning but I did find a fault on the obd for it.

      @@Z33Garage thanks for the reply! So by turning everything off using the switch, ABS still works? And No need to unplug the connector by the brake master cylinder?Love your videos btw, went through a bunch of them today.

      @@sirlucid4432 yeah per my understanding this mod does retain ABS. I am honestly not 100% sure if the abs needs to be pulled or not. I am still trying to understand how both systems work together

    Nice vid, I've seen this mod several times before. But I thought it was for models with elsd to disable elsd. My Z only has tcs & the stock button disables 100%
    My g35 the stock button disables tcs & vdc 100% but the elsd still kicks in sometimes & is annoying cause it brakes the faster wheel unlike a mechanical lsd which adds power to the slower wheel.

      Everything that I have read in the FSM suggests that unless you have a BASE 350z, the TCS system is not actually 100% disabled as it still kicks in if you try roasting your tires or track the car, same with the VDC system. So you feel fuel cut and the brakes pumping when the system is even disabled. Again I am going only by what the FSM says for my 05 car with Vlsd and both tcs and vdc systems.

      @@Z33Garage thanks for the reply, will the wire you cut also disable partial throttle while braking? I disable this by pulling my brake light fuse.(for when I want to burn off my old tires)

      @@darrenfrank9716 from what i read yes this will disable that. I have heard that cutting pin 101 on the ECU connector will also accomplish this.

    For european Zs, it's useless. The switch on the left of the dash, disables ESP and TCS. Very usefull to have fun in the swow

    • @Z33Garage

      This is good to know. The US model doesn't disable the system 100%. So traction control will still kick in when doing fun stuff.

      @@Z33Garage When disabled, you can turn it on again without touching ignition. Totally disabled, only ABS remains. If in MT engine stalls, just restart without cutting ignition before and they stay disabled. My EU Z is a real pleasure every winter thanks to this

    Would it not be better to put the switch on the ground wire for the yaw sensor rather than the 12v?

    • @Z33Garage
      @Z33Garage  2 роки тому +1

      I did some research online and the concensus was it doesn't really matter. The way i think, I would rather cut power into the circuit than out of it.

    so if you flip vdc off in order for it to turn back on u have to turn the car off and on or are the dash lights false positives?

    • @Z33Garage
      @Z33Garage  2 роки тому +1

      If you do that you have to turn off the car to kill the lights. I believe the ECU continues to treat it as if VDC is off. I can't 100% confirm this as I'm not 100% sure how the ECU handles it
