Last year I had to replace all the tubes in my Marshall JCM 2000 and it was a BEAST once again!! Love this tutorial my man, I don’t own this preamp but I respect the job you did in this. It’s not easy changing out tubes or at least for me. Lol
I had to check this out because I enjoy supporting your channel and that I'm interested in getting an XLR mic at some point. Seems like a very easy upgrade and worth the time to do it. Easy to follow video here, as it helps that you pointed out the tools you'll need. Well done brother 👏✌
the gold pins are actually a detriment if you're going for a better mid-range vocal sound. they actually lower its' presence. In short, if you like the sound of a tube for vocals with gold pins, you'll like it even better without and the price will be lower. lower price usually means lower quality on some level but not when it comes to gold versus non-gold pins when used for vocals.
Yes that is exactly correct. I found that the stock tube sounds just as good as the Tung Sol, there was only a subtle difference. You can come back to this video as see exactly how to change it in case it burns out. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks very much, I really appreciate it!! It took a few hours to film and then did the timelapse on it. Great to know you enjoy it!! Have an awesome day!!
My suggestion is for you to use it and make recordings and get to know the sound. After a while, get a new tube in there and hear the difference, if anything you can always change the tube back. The change in mine was there but it was not a huge difference@@luc8584
hey there, so its been a few years now and I can say the difference is very small, the sound is a bit clearer but i don't think an average listener would know the difference. At the time I filmed this i was trying to get a better sound from this device and it did do the job but it was not tremendous.
@@onzkicg I have since switched to pro mpa 2, it's used for more professional recording but for more serious voice overs I use it, other wise I have the presonus pre2 which is also very handy
@@chikosupernova1743 Yes it is, and actually about to make a video about how to change that one too, it is the same process as this and it will work the same. let me know if you need any help.
this is a myth. the oil on your fingers will NOT damage the glass or leech through it. Tubes are not halogen bulbs. Tubes may get hot to the touch, but your finger oil will not cause the tube to break when heated up, nor will it affect tube life or sonics. It will not go through the glass. upscaleaudio.com/pages/tube-basics-and-frequently-asked-questions
Great tutorial friend sledgehammered that like button great information aswell
Thanks, I have been wanting to change it for a while now- glad it worked out well-I should sound better on my streams now.
Thanks 👍👍 what you did is appreciated and thanked very much
I'm really happy to hear that

Glad you found it useful my friend! It is a handy tool for your audio needs. I believe is at a reasonable price at the moment.

Greetings, after the making of this video I did come to realize exactly what you are saying here. Thanks for your feedback.
This is really helpful to see how to change it 😃
Thank you, glad you found it helpful. How's your day going?
Well I learned something new today. So thank you, Frank for that
Awesome, I'm glad to hear it!!!
Fantastic tutorial Frank and I must say that that sounded so crisp when you were using it
Thanks man!! I appreciate it!!!
Greetings bro am trying to find out the model on the tube a trying to order one mines burn out
Thank you for The video. So then the stock tube will work just fine until it burns out. So I’ll grab a back up until then.

Buenas
Recién compré ese equipo pero se apaga sólo cuando lo estoy utilizando
Sabes a que se deberá?😢
hi where i can find a tube and its how much?
Hi Luc, this is the exact one I bought and the one in the video, its on Amazon for around fifty, take a look at it here amzn.to/3QuzTlh
@@artemorbid ok but in canada its 100$
@@luc8584 oh wow, ok maybe if you look for a different brand but this is the one that gave me the best results

Great "how to" video Frank 👍Very nice camera work.
Thanks man. To be honest- I had the brand new Tube for almost a year, and I finally decided to change it. Glad you like it brother.
Mine just arrived, unused but old stock. How bad is the orig tube? Is it necessary/worth the upgrade?

@@artemorbid Thanks yeah was thinking practicality. 1 nice Tube costs around $25-30, almost half the price of device.

Why is the 12ax7 always on top list when choosing a tube?
I believe its just because its a standard among people but there could be other options, I never looked into it.
does it take much to blow a tube?
Well, it really depends. If its plugged in wrong it may burn it out fast.
Good job! Greetings from Brasil
Hi Cesar, greetings from Chicago, glad this helps you
@@artemorbid hi, How everything is going? I was curious about this piece. I was researching about it and found your vídeo.
Model 12ax7 ?
Hey Anderson, yes 12ax7
It's ok for the Presonus TUPR Tube Pre V2?

Thank you very much hermano, you are very kind. very practical your channel, more blessa 🍀 🙏 🍀
I changed my tube but a still don't have a light
The tube only effects the sound, if the light is burned out you may need to replace the light itself
Thanks I figured it out. It's a tiny blue light under the meter
@@Brhudsonjr That is awesome!! So glad to hear it!!! thanks for sharing your feedback here!! Pleasure to meet you.

The oil from your fingers can shorten the tubes life.
Oh wow, I had no idea. I'll have to wear gloves next time, thanks for the tip.

For what they cost, I'm not going to take the chance.
@@MrTMC70 fair enough. I use my fingers all the time. Never an issue but I understand.
