@@WayneKerr69420 i had a 2003 cavalier with a 5 speed and that thing was a rocket ,,the stock 2.2 liter engine makes 160HP mine was the turbo model which topped 210HP ,,plenty of ZIP for a sub 3000 pound 2 door car ,,and with decent tires it's surprising where it would go if you wanted

That Cavalier was surprisingly tough, carrying all that weight, off-roading and getting that far ahead of the pursuers.
My old Cavalier lasted 200,000 miles ... the engine was still great, everything else was dying! But then again, I didn't try off-roading with it.

That struck me as odd, I can only assume as it was reported as stolen it had a remote immobiliser system on it and they where awaiting the word to disable it

I think it's illegal to say high speed pursuit and Chevrolet pickup in the same sentence.
If a vehicle can't be shut down remotely as part of the factory anti-theft system, either get OnStar or make stealing it at all as inconvenient as possible for those who would. If they have to work hard for it, they'll usually move on to try and find an easier target. I saw the first chase on Police Pursuits, and it's baffling how dumb the people in the truck are.

The truck was remotely shut off by OnStar. It's a subscription service on GM vehicles that provides diagnostic, emergency, navigation and tracking services.
Onstar killed the vehicle where the gas pedal could not be used. So, the vehicle rolls.

They turned that Chevy off with onstar.
It was mostly shut down, but not completely turned off. It's left incapacitated but the brakes, power steering and other stuff still works for safety reasons. That's why it was still idling along.

Yeah, those big, heavy trucks have a lot of momentum. I remember one time, just for fun, my grandfather drove all the way to the church in his '91 Silverado with the engine turned off. Even when following traffic laws, we still made it just shy of our usual parking spot.

If Onstar was tracking the GMC Canyon, them there should have been no high speed pursuit. The officer or dispatch can notify Onstar and they will turn off the engine.
It WAS tracking the truck and it DID shut it down. From what I know, Onstar doesn't completely turn it off so the brakes, power steering and stuff still work. That's why it was just idling along. That is how it was explained in the full version video of this chase that I watched.

In that first video that chase happened on a really busy highway by the airport and it's not the best part of town. Knowing how ppl around that area are tired of bs (bc its also by a lot of factories that good ppl work at) they probably saw the chase and were like oh we are goina fuck up this guy lol

He was doing what he did for a reason, as explained in the video. He was doing it because spike strips had been set up and he was providing a distraction so the crook wouldn't notice them and run over them. Did you even watch the video and listen to it? Or you just out to spread lies and cop hate?
