If the Russian Skating Federation looked after its athletes, including financial support, this crap wouldn't happen. It's a very high rate of attrition for people who've trained all their lives to be the best. I'm afraid Valery hasn't had good parental support, which Vasilisa has, and he'd recently taken on an obviously stupid manager. Sadly I think Valery will be the one to fall by the wayside. And chances of Vasilisa finding another partner for the Olympic level needed for next year are almost minimal. The problem is Russian life, including its organisations, is a mess. No government support. Putin only supports his personal billionaires (who take care of his money) and the war against Ukraine. How long before Russians wake up to the fact Putin is bad to the bone and very bad for all of them?
