INCREDIBLE MOUNTAIN HIKE in THAILAND - STUNNING Views of Sukhothai!

- Definitely the most spectacular thing to do in Sukhothai Thailand…visit Ramkhamhaeng National Park and hike up Khao Luang.
Spend the night near the summit, Thailand camping at it’s best. See the sunrise and sunset from two beautiful locations near to the top of the mountain.
This hike is almost a pilgrimage to many Thai people but is very little known by foreign tourists. As usual I strive to bring you Thailand hidden gems and this is definitely one of them.

Another great adventure with the bald one Karl.
Rather a strenuous climb not for the faint hearted so I am glad Baldy Brian and you did it so I do not need to...
Thanks for taking us along.
Cheers, it was indeed strenuous but totally worth it. Yes, you don’t have to do it now 😂

Thailand is full of such places. Cheers
great intro karl..and fantastic drone shots...well done
Thanks Alan
555. Thought I saw some Thais in flip flops passing you guys by. Awesome views my friend. On my bucket list now.
You may well have Andrew, those Thais live their flip flops . Cheers
Awesome hike. It there a abridged version of this hike for a day visit. I have two or three days slated in Sukhothai in February.
Cheers. It can be hiked up and down on a single day depending on your fitness but you would have to start early and it would be a tough day
@@karlsthailand Thanks for the reply and warning. If I had two days, it would be a easy consideration ... and still tough by the looks of it. 😝 I got other tamer hikes in mind for my trip. I appreciate viewing your treks. All the best.
TOP NOTCH MATE....can't believe I missed that one 😭
Cheers Paddy, it’s a tough one buddy but totally worth it
Great vid, Karl. (Yours was fast too) The opening clip went well, I thought the acting was worthy of an Oscar. You are right about the spirit and friendship on the trail; the locals were so friendly and welcoming. I'd love to do this climb again when there is a chance of the sea of clouds, that would make some awesome footage.
ide love to do that myself mate it really looks great enloy
Oscar lol?….maybe 😂 Yes, a great hike and a great atmosphere to match it. Sea of clouds would indeed have been nice, Marne do it again in the Cool Season
Wow this was a serious hike!
Beautiful views
Wonderful
Thanks RAG, glad you enjoyed it

Helicopter lol. Yes, they have a helicopter pad up there. Thanks
Terrific stuff. Those mountain shots takes my breath away.
Thanks Ed, it’s a tough hike but totally worth it.
Superb views. You have a great sense of adventure. Done quite a few treks when I`ve been to different parts of Asia and i want to do more.
Thanks Steve, there a lot of nice surprises in Thailand when it comes to hiking but you have to put in the time to find them
@@karlsthailand I’ll be in Pattaya early September this year. 6 year since I was last in Pattaya.
nice! my partner mentioned this place to me last while visiting our in-laws from sukhothai and we'll be visiting again for Loi Kratong this year. Definitely will do this hike.
It’s tough but rewarding WW
Bloody spectacular Karl ✌️🙏
Thanks Yom
Looks amazing Karl 🙌 wish I had the time to go and do more of this kind of videos 🙏🏻
Cheers Matt, yes it does all take a bit of time lol
Karl you are a legend mate! I absolutely love your content x
Thanks so much Nick, it’s nice to know my efforts are appreciated
@@karlsthailand honestly, it’s amazing seeing the footage of the places you go! It opens eyes to things I wouldn’t usually think of x
Great video Karl, similar sort of height to Ben Nevis, which i climbed with you, but path much tougher and heat and humidity much harder on body, still greater view from summit as payoff.
Cheers Chris, yeah it’s a totally different experience going up to mountains of that height here, they tend to be forested here for a start. The cooler climate at the top here can actually be more comfortable whereas in the UK it’s something you have to protect yourself from. The views were great as you say
UNREEL!!! WOW! WOW! ,,,,,,, at least 111.99 WOW"s UNREEL!!!
Thanks Rodney
I love mountain's & I love your channel too , I like to see u to the "Phukradueng National park (ภูกระดึง)" it so beautiful No.1 for me ...
I wait 4 u ;-)
I’ve been up Phu Kradueng twice already and nearly vlogged it the second time but lost most of my footage while updating my iPhone…..I was so angry. I will no doubt go back up and vlog it again. I also have an idea to make it a bit different too
karl you are a top man ! i sit here in the england and wishing i was in thai !!! one day ahah love your vids but sorry mate hate it when it ends .. well done lads .. kenny b nottingham
Thanks for all your comments Kenny, it does encourage me to keep making the videos

Thanks Owen, yes, it’s a tough but rewarding hike
amazing views
It’s stunning up there Gordon but it’s a view you have to earn lol. Thanks
wow
Cheers Ant
Wowwww 😍
Thank you Ratthanan
Respect ✊ I walked up Tiger mountain a couple of years ago and that was hard but this looks a lot harder. I’m coming back to Pattaya on 06/08/22 after 9 months back in England I will keep an eye out for you would love to say hi 👋
Thanks, sure I’m usually in Pattaya these days
Superb Karl. What a great achievement that must feel like and what a tremendous sense of community amongst your fellow travellers. I'd have loved to have done that but my knees wouldn't tolerate it. I struggle to get up those stairs in Kink.
Cheers Dan, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, those stairs in Kink lol
Really enjoyed that mate! I have planned to go there for quite some time. As usual, it looks worth it for the view. How was the hike down?
Have you retired your walking boots or what mate ?? 😉😂
@@markp5056 skint at the moment so will be mostly be wandering in Bangkok for a while mate
@@markp5056 actually got some new ones 🤣🤣
Cheers Jimmy, the hike down took us 2 hours and 30 minutes
@@JBWanders73 know that feeling Jimmy ! Cost of living in UK is getting ridiculous! 😪. At least you got new boots! 😉😅
Beautiful
Thanks Terry
How did your camping go comfortable? cold? Another beautiful hike thankx Karl
It was surprisingly warm that night, a little chilly in the early hours but not much. It might have been different if it had rained though, the tent wasn’t in great condition and I doubt it would have stood up to a storm very well
Funny that tent looked sturdy doing it is so much different than watching it.
Terrific video Karl, added to places to visit in Thailand. I’m guessing this was a recent trip and mountain doesn’t get closed for rainy season ?
Cheers TTL, it’s a great destination and I am not aware of any regular Seasonal shutdowns but it does close sometimes. Both times I have visited have been at the end of July. Check with Ramkhamhaeng National Park before travelling there
Karl have you ever thought of writing a book about your life ? Especially about your travels ?
Some people have suggested that, maybe later
Wonderful
Krap Pom from 🏴
Thanks Michael
Loving the videos. Especially the old photos. Wish I had discovered Thailand 20 years ago.
Cheers Marcus. I will be videoing the final few old pictures videos tomorrow
@@karlsthailand the stories are great. The way you tell them. I’m back over in October to Bangkok Chiang Mai, and Koh Chang. Then 3 weeks at Xmas koh samui. Will take a look at some of the places in videos.
Great video, where was the coffee shop?
Certainly not at the top but you could buy basic food and drink at the campground near the top. Thanks
Love your videos, Karl. I'm retired here and travel a bit around a bit in the car. Been to Sukhothai several times but stick to the historical park. That hike would be beyond me, Rough trails are not for me. Nobody was wearing masks which was a surprise.
We did climb that rocky outcrop in Korat that you and Nick Dean visited that starts behind the temple that overlooks the lake. Lots of steps but OK. Great views and a lovely breeze.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks, yes this hike was a tough one. Happy to hear that you did the one in Khorat though, just a couple of tricky spots on that. Thanks again
That was a good tough hike Karl, and no doubt very satisfying when you get to see those magnificent views. I could see myself up there with a bottle of red wine to really unwind!...Great job as usual mate.
Yes, I think a bottle of wine would have gone down well after that hike Mark
Looks like this mountain hike would be a challenge but rewarding and awesome in the end! Video is completely spectacular & thanks for sharing Karl 😊
Cheers once more Marietta. I think it is one of Thailand’s classic hikes that become almost a pilgrimage to some
Sir you have one of the best channels in Thailand, some truly amazing videos. Unfortunately, your audio is not up to par. When you’re living in a condo with neighbors above, below and both sides of you it is frustrating to have to turn the volume way up to try and hear. Then all of a sudden the channel volume jumps way up and blasting out of the tv. So at night I really don’t even try to watch any. I’d love it if you’d get a quality microphone and get better more stable volume videos. That said, I love your channel, God bless. 🙏🙏
Thanks Roger, I quite appreciate sincere constructive criticism. I’m guessing that you’re referring to the volume changes of me speaking when I am far away from the camera as opposed to near to it. As it happens I do have a pair of radio microphones. When I am hiking they’re a bit uncomfortable to use and I actually enjoy the ambient sounds of say the jungle in stereo that I get while using the inbuilt microphone and some subscribers have said that they enjoy it to. If I used the radio microphone then it would kill that effect. What I will try is using the radio microphones for shots while I am more than a few feet from the camera. Glad you enjoy my channel and thanks
Fantastic video Karl, the views were stunning. I would not do that, maybe in Scotland but not in that heat and humidity. I was with you all the way though! I had a nice walk along St Andrews beach today, that will do me.
Thanks. It can be tough sometimes but remember that it gets cooler the higher you go lol
thailand seems amazing for hiking. best in SE asia in your opinion? im thinking of relocating to that region, and i love hiking
I haven’t hiked other parts of SEA much tbh although I have traveled it. Thailand would certainly have the advantage in terms of the number and accessibility of National Parks but A real adventurous hiker could have some great off the beaten track hikes in any of the SEA countries if they were willing to rough it a bit.
Wowww- what a breathtaking view!! It’s gotta be worth the hike up there and I would love to head over there one of these day! Thanks for sharing another awesome video Karl🙏🏼 The place is totally beautiful and cannot wait to check it out😊
Thanks Marietta, it’s very tiring but totally worth the ascent
i'd roll my ankle on this one.
It's an amazing hike. If you look in the comments Paddy Doyle saw this video and then visited soon after himself. Cheers
Insane Karl, that drone footage at the start is just awesome 👌
What a view, worth the trek but looked bloody hard work!
Cheers Mark, the trek was hard but that’s the price you have to pay to get the views
Another great video Karl 👍. Bloody hell that looked hard, I wouldn't mind doing a couple of hikes but that won't be one 😳.
Cheers. The more you put in the more you get out MyThai lol
great vid mate . i would rather hike soi 6 for 4 hours .
Cheers Loz. You could always start training lol
Baldy brian🤣🤣 good job there's no tigers up there 😲
He’ll never live that down will he Al? What did I do lol
for this type of terrain u guys shouldve used trekking poles. takes about half the ascending load off your lower body
Of course and I have used them but unfortunately us UA-camr hikers have to have one hand free for our gimbals/cameras. The whole action cam on chest mount thing has never worked for me as I prefer to be able to frame my shots
Beautiful spot, thanks for sharing it with us. Brian fared a bit better and was certainly less profane than your Khao Yai NP hiking partner. I think, judging from your snickering, that you take a bit of pleasure from torturing these guys.....lol.
I think you are probably referring to Nick Dean while exposed to the leeches lol. Seriously, my sniggering is just because I usually enjoy the exertion. Well maybe sometimes 😂
Good performance Kalle. Must be lovely when you can shower up there.👍
Thanks. Yes Anders, a shower was great after the hike up AND down the mountain
