As an actual pilot, I really like ships that have off center pilot’s seats. Most civil aircraft that aren’t tandem 2 seaters have off centered seats. It gives a familiar feeling when piloting them.
Agreed. In fact, I think overall CIG does a very good job distinguishing civilian and military applications like this, i.e. the tandem super hornet and scorpius vs cockpits like these. Cheers from another aviator
As a person with a standard driver's license, I am also very comfortable driving a vehicle from a slightly off-center position. It's really the more common operating position for any vehicle.
I have to admit, after seeing a tour ot the interior of this ship, I was quick to open the store and buy this ship with the same eager excitement I had when buying my first Connie😊, and like I own each Connie, I can see myself wanting to own each ship in the Starlancer family, but we'll see lol, because I no longer purchase concepts. The devs use of new materials, new techniques and dev styles have made for a very aesthetically pleasing interior that has live-aboard explorer written all over it lol. I can see myself spending a lot of time in this interior, and being VERY comfortable. I have yet to see a medical bay that compares to the Carrack, so looking forward to see how Tac medbay turns out! Aside from my Endeavor, I have never been interested in a MISC until now! Excellent review!
I like how all the elevators are big enough to put the components of the ship in. Many ships have components that don’t fit through the doors or on lifts for the ship. Making you scratch your head on how they are supposed to be replaced.
I'm absolutely in love with the Starlancer and it's officially become my new solo & multi-crew ship. I can also fit BOTH a Nursa AND an Ersa rover. My only complaint is how they layed out the living quarters. Otherwise, I love this ship. Thanks for the awesome review!
@@arkansasturin8144 I feel like they designed the TAC first and outlined the BLD, then suddenly remembered they had to do a base model anjust thought "OK throw four staterooms in where the Fury hangar is on the TAC"
The constellation series should definitely take notes on how this ship is done. I could definitely see a luxury version that would symbolize the same as the Phoenix. 😅
Thanks for the Video... the first MISC Ship in my Hangar and i love it! Two Medic Ursas... one ATLS and 224 SCU of Cargo in the same time with ease! A friend of mine took the tour in mine and just as we wanted to buy some Cargo for testing, he already bought it. Even if you don`t like the Misc Letterbox Cockpits (Like my friend and myself): Try it!
The fascinating thing to me is that the Star MAX is a similar size to a 600i but doesn't feel like it, but also feels that it is at the same time. So much in (and on) this ship yet has got the feeling of not being crammed in too.
Now that I think about it, there really aren't many Large cargo ships that have a centred pilot's seat. There's the Constellation and the Carrack (if you even count it among cargo ships), but the Drake, MISC, and Crusader large cargo ships all have duo seating for the pilots or have an off-centre command module. It's not something I mind personally, the Caterpillar is my most flown ship and that's a way more extreme asymmetry than any of the duo seating ships have.
Great video as usual. Most people only mention in oassing that all the habs have a double beds, LOL not sure if you even did that. I may be the first person to say I think extra sleeping/logging capacity is xlnt. Places for security and operators of other ships/vehicles. Makes it a good support ship for group activities. I saw one mention in comments about the cargo pants capacity not being real good for the ship of this size, I sort of agree but if the vehicle area is used for cargo, which looks easy to do, that probably bumps the capacity to something like 300scu
The lowering cargo platforms could be modified and a variant of this ship could be a bomber. Or racks to hold and launch torpedoes. I agree the living quarters have a strange wasteful layout. Double beds don't make sense either. If you were working on a modern cargo ship would you want to share a bed with someone at the same time? I know that some ships hot-bunk but that is different.
I just melted my Zeus for one... Bought it in concept, waited a year or so for it to release just to melt it less then a month later to do it all again. That's SC for you xD
WWII bomber- B-52? I know I’m being nit picky here, I know what you mean. Gotta say it though, cause I’m an aviation Jack wagon. B-52 came after WWII. B-24 had a catwalk very similar to what the Starlancer has. There, I made my critique. I can continue my day in peace. 😊 -Love your work LOTW. Always one of my go to creators for SC. That said, I’m looking forward to this ship very much. It gives me Firefly vibes. They could have worked to increase its official SCU amount, but I think it sits well as multi role cargo ship, with the ability to carry a ground vehicle in addition to cargo. I think we’ll see it come into its own as base building/supplying becomes a reality. I also see it doing well hauling a moderate amount of valuable cargo long distances. More along the lines of that supplier direct to consumer specialty delivery, versus the regular hub and spoke setup we’ve seen introduced with the hauling missions.
I noticed that the medium elevator is 224 cargo capacity, so using that for a misc star Lancer is the perfect idea one trip one load in the cargo bay done and done
1:13 "Its big enough to accomodate a Tumbril Storm" - nope, the normal Storm doesnt fit (turret gun gets in the way) but does allow the slightly lower StormAA. Apparently CIG have said that the TAC will allow a Storm but we will see.
Uncertain if I want to get one of these, as a mostly solo player that usually has a C1 Spirit. On one hand, so much space, but on the other - looks like it'll be expensive to run.
I Star Citizen players not also auto drivers? I don't know if any commercially available automobiles that have tantrum seating. the driver is always off center. I don't see what the issue is with off center position when flying.
I own the Starlancer and previously the Freelancer and the off center seat doesnt bother me. Nor does the mail slot view since we can see the target location with a red arrow. When I fly through atmo to a distant target I often fly on my side so I can keep an eye on the distance meter. You can fly my Starlancer for a full review in a week if you like. msg me.
I really like this ship i think im gonna buy it but my only complaint is,this ship is really big and don't have a medbay? Thats really dissapointing considering it has a 4 players capability.
All the original freelancers have 4 player capacity and no medbay. Heck, the Redeemer fully manned carries 5 crew and 6 marines and has no medbay. Look at all the seats in a Valkyrie and it has no medbay.
Wasteful space, which is not realistic. Small cargo becouse of wasted space, not realistic on industrial hauler ship. But as a nomad ship, it would be perfect. Mass effect had those veeery long distance haulers that hauled things for months. Entire generations were grewing up there. But we dont, and wont have this type of gameplay. So I do not understand it besides RP reason.
Yup, this is an RP ship and is terrible for anything else. Cargo capacity is too small to support multi-crew, as nobody would make any money when split four ways, and if flown solo to maximize profit, then the four separate crew quarters are a huge waste of space. This is a bad multi-crew ship and a bad solo ship. As usual the CIG ship designers did not have a clear vision for this ship and made it a bad mix of multiple ideas... aside from pure RP that is. However, just as with every new ship, the player base gets drunk on the hype and ignores the glaring bad design. Same just happened with the Zeus CL, obvious bad design with arbitrary dumb choices, yet the players gushed all over it. Now people finally see how bad the CL is and are melting their it for this ship, which has even more nonsensical design. I don not know who is doing the interior design work for CIG, but they are not good at their job. Or, more likely, CR is messing everything up with his random "visions".
I want to love the Starlancer. I do love the external visual of the ship, but for a cargo ship of this size, the cargo capacity of 224 is pretty poor. If this was the exploratuon variant, it would be perfect if not overkill. But for a cargo ship the size of a 600i with this amount of legit cargo, it's not doing it for me. And i don't add in cramming cargo everywhere it'll fit. That won't SAFELY last forever. 7/10 from me.
Ao tired of hearing people whine about lack of cargo on certain ships when the verse is replete with giant cargo ships. Just go haul your wares in another ship

I normally don't like the Misc design, but I love this ship and am looking forward to the TAC.
Same! Really nailed the design of it this time, definitely the best looking MISC ship they've released
Love the drop down cargo bays. Very useful. Very cool.
At the turret stations there's a button marked DOOR on the left that opens/closes the blast shield on the windows in front of the seat.
thanks, I was looking all over for that!

Ye, linig space there is.. unreal in a bad way. Noone with sane mind would not wast so much prcious space on a non luxury ship

You always do great ship tours!

Yes excited about TAC. View doesn’t bother me. I’ll fly the Zeus if I want a good view.
The first Tomb Raider with the T-Rex

the double bed could accommodate couples 😏

You forgot to retract the turret before you tried. I verified that the storm does fit into it.
melted my c2 and got this. Wasn't expecting to have so much credit left over so now idk what to do with the rest of it lol. Love the ship though!
I believe the windows above each of the gunner seats have a blast door that be opened and closed. o7
Off center is normal way. Every car, almost every civilian plane and lots of military jets and planes have off center sit
Can't wait for this ship.
Uncertain if I want to get one of these, as a mostly solo player that usually has a C1 Spirit. On one hand, so much space, but on the other - looks like it'll be expensive to run.
its a great ship but i dislike the grey in grey look from the inside a lot. some colored panels and stuff would have been nice.
I like it all except the pilot view haha. Just not a fan of the inside the Cylon helmet view.
I'm really curious when we will get the rework of the Starfarer 🤔
It’s not happening.
Surely it is though @@calibur-t6h

It's Double Hull everywhere
How can a suit-up spot not have a bench? How am I supposed to tie my shoes if I can't sit down on a bench? I'm not like twenty-something any more.

@Gazbeard thats sad but true
Im good with it.
the starlancer is cool looking but its belly is exposed cause it has no turret protection
CIG love doing that. It's also a MISC style.
..for the sake of "posterity"😉😉
Tried the ship, the MFDs are killing me and the radar hologram.
I’d just love not to have a freaking hostel inside my cargo ship!
More ships with windows!

To each thier own get starfarer then I did but I love starlancer I bought all 3 so bring on the homemade MISC PACK

@lootgoblins1554 you'll get over it just like we will.
Well plus side can fit a Nursa between if you don't stuff it like a turkey XD
