This album is seriously underrated. It Kicks ass.
Just horrible production and mixing
too loud. horrible I wouldn´t say. It just hurts when listened to on headphones
+Thegamer101135 Production? Yes, but it isn't that bad either. People exaggerate it too much IMO.
I swear, if the production, mixing or whatever was like on Hardwired it would be classed as one of Metallicas top 5 ever. Guitar tone was brutal, Lars drumming was great, Kirks solos was really great and Rob was awesome as always.
+Kevin McDonald Meh, with its original production I'd even class it as one of 'Metallica's top 5. It isn't that bad IMO.
This record was solid as hell. The production killed it for many people.
Mesimarch can’t listen to it...CLIPPED
Only pussies complained about the production. Bad production did not stop AJFA from being a masterpiece, so it shouldn't hurt Death Magnetic. I personally like the loud sound, especially with the drumming.
The production is fine. Isnt metal meant to be loud
@jonny j there´s the Masterred for itunes and the Guitar Hero 3. Did you know about these? the MIT is considered the definitive version according to some, while the GH3 was the not-loud version so with no distortion, or something like that
@jonny j the mix of justice is unbearable. Is the mix on Death kinda bloated? yes, is it better than justice? hell yes it is
Death Magnetic was actually an incredible album
I can say this about every single album (lulu isn't Metallica's album)
@Schizofreak ride the lightning?
@Schizofreak Actually St. Anger’s full tracklist had credited Bob Rock, Kirk, James, and Lars on all 11 songs
@@Faks.09Lou Reed's Lulu which Metallica played on breaks the Geneva Convention. It is a torture beyond comprehension. I would rather sit next to an active busy airport runway without ear protection than listen to that album.
2023 y sigue estando de huevos
Lets enjoy these guys while they are still around because there will never be another band like them. Fucking legends.
Truth 🤘🎶 🖤 ❤️
These and ACDC are the last, the best to do it Live
My favorite album is Master of Puppets, but Death Magnetic is definitely 2nd. Hardwire to Self-destruct was alright but not brilliant like this album.
The solo's on the The Judas Kiss are one of the most difficult to learn. And i love the guitar Kirk plays, Teuffel Birdfish . It looks kinda like a sci-fi gun
I still like this album. Hardwired has it's moments, but overall I enjoyed this one more.
For me, I think Death is more consistent, but no greats. Hardwired has a couple of greats, but some not as good as the worst on Death. Hmmm. Judas Kiss. Halo on Fire. Difficult to choose a better album. At least the mastering on Hardwired is better.
Yeah, maybe I'm not so right with that. But what would you say is the best on Death, and how would it compare to Master of Puppets? (For example)
Well, I am a very melodic guy that likes my hooks. And I am into vocals and I think there are allot more hooky-stuff on Death. The pre chorus of Judas Kiss, the chorus of All night mare long, the chorus of Broken Beat and scarred and I really love The Unforgiven III. I think it is underrated and it shows James from a better side, than when he is just barking. That works for the fast stuff. But hate that periode as much as you want, he never sang better - than in the Re-load up until S&M.To me Hardwireds best moments are "Spit out the bone", "Atlas rise", "Moth into flame (This one has the best chorus melody on the album in my opinion), "Confusion" (the vers melody is great), "Halo on fire" (mostly due to the outro) and then the heavy one...I don't remember what it is called. I don't like comparing albums as such. But for the hell of it, let's take it on a scale from 0-10. Master of puppets (10) - Death Magnetic (6)
Master of puppets (10) - Hardwired to self... (5)
De Frigjorte same
Hardwired has too much filler on it, but the production was pretty good. Hardwired, moth, and spit out the bone are the only songs i really liked from it. Death magnetic was a lot more thrash metal, but had shit production but good songs like that was just your life, all nightmare long, the day that never comes. Much more consistent album
This album kicks some serious ass. Way underrated in my opinion
Totally agree...
One of their best ever
It's definitely one of the better post Justice Albums
Man they actually played better than the album. Impressive performance, and impressive crowd too.
Blaze9 Web Casting they didn't play better is just the Quality of the studio mix
They always sound better than their studio crap..The energy they have while on stage is crazy!!!
VIVA MEXICO CABRONES!
Live material should always be better than the studio material.
Those songs are brutal live. I wonder what the hell happened during the album production or mastering to not capture that energy
Maybe finally people will realise how great this album actually is. No more complaining about bad sound production.
Iron Hammer Better than hardwired
Definetely.
Iron Hammer Amen bro
Fuck yeah, It even gives RTL KEA And AJFA to me
People that turn down the album's music for the bad audio are retarded. That's like people only look at a videogame's graphics. Extremely ignorant. - Does the audio on DM bother me?... Heeell yea. It's garbage. But I just downloaded the Guitar Hero version early on... I paid like 30 Dollars for the damn album day one, I don't need that shit to rape my ears and speakers. - They brought it onto themselves making it sound bad though, I only started to enjoy it after like a year because of it being so ear rapey that it's hard to just enjoy the musical side of it... Sound IS important... It shouldn't distract, only make the experience with the notes you hear... Sadly, that's a rarity these days.
Judas kiss has really grown on me the past year. underrated song. well, the whole album is
Cliff Senac this
100% brother \m/
That's one great song. To me it also sounded weird at first, but now it's one of my late Metallica favorites. Judas Kiss has it all: weight, chug and melodic appeal. A true 'Tallica gem
true. the main issue is the production. and man the production is crap. it ruins a really good album
yeah, and when it takes off during Kirks solo. WHOLY shit shot the old man shredds
James, 2008 - Present: "Hello friends, Metallica is grateful to be here with you to share this moment"
James, 1983-1999: "Wake up, fucks!"
I love both of them!
All nightmare long rifftastic
That riff that comes after the first solo I think is the best riff on the entire record
Darren Ferne yeah but the demo sounds even better as the original song at the end... Sadly
And to think James didn't really like it when they were writing it. It's one of my favorites.
Song is fucking brutal. Definitely a thrasher
I'm not sure how this album is so overlooked. It won and was nominated for all kinds of awards including best rock album while garnering itself a 78/100 on metacritic. That is a high score for anything on metacritic. Underappreciated for sure. The whole album is criminally underappreciated. When it came out there were still a lot of people sour over St.Anger and to lesser extent the Load era. Many of their casual fans and die hard metal head elitists who scoffed at Metallica after Black, Load, or St.Anger instantly dismissed DM or gave it a skeptical listen while trying to find negatives. Hating on Metallica was the thing to do for some people in the late 90's and especially early 00's. They finally released a very thrashy and heavy album with standard tuned guitars and solos after 17 years. Exactly what everyone was hoping for. It was on pretty much all the album of the year lists for 2008, earned all kinds of awards and nominations yet a lot of people still trashed it. Take away the clipping and loudness thanks to Rick Rubin and you have one of their best albums that can stand with their 80's classics. I think it is better than Hardwired, and yet for some reason people say that was the return to their older, thrashier sound though it was really DM eight years prior. More people had forgotten, forgiven and more nostalgia kicked in between 2008 and 2016 so that is my theory on that.
Brett of The Wild yeah
DM is legend...way better than that new whatever it is..lol
I 100% agree with you, Death Magnetic could follow right after Justice, its heavy, cool riffs and great vocals. I love every song on DM, on hardwired not so much
This album doesn’t even come close to Ride the lighting lets be honest 😂
Lots of gatekeeping with Metallica, there are people I have heard that say everything after KEA is rubbish. Heard the same thing just with the album changed by different people. Hell the new album dropped this week and people still commenting on it saying that. In a huge back catalogue though there are going to be songs and albums a person might not like when compared to others. You get production changes, style changes, contributer changes, personality changes. Frankly with the exception of Load and St Anger eras Metallica has been quite consistent with their sound.
This album is a masterpiece!
completely agreed mate
MASTERPIECE
Never understood all the hate toward this album. All things considered with hardwired out this death magnetic is very underrated. Great album in my opinion. They killed it in that c9ncert!
DM is far better album than Hardwired
@@killswitch2408 hardwired kills dm
@@iranoutofnames82 no
Two words: Rick Rubin
That dude fucked up the studio version, excessively loud and compressed
His voice in Mexico City concert was fucking golden! So much better than other shows in 2009/10.
This was 2008
44:40
Is the most tender "death" in the history of James Hetfield
they should play suicide & redemption live again!
They should play it often
metalstyler95 YES!
they only played it 2 times. ever
Unfirgiven 3.....rare sighting..
I love 3rd one..
How can i blame u when it's me i can't forgive...wow
Totally agree dude. True masterpiece
TheDyerWolf sadly they don't play it.
its fucking trash og unforgiven is best
Unforgiven*
@@skeletonkissedyou5712 You're fucking trash. Unforgiven III is amazing.
One of the greatest return/comeback albums in history. Although I personally still was cool with a lot of Load - St. Anger stuff, Death Magnetic was such a fantastic return to form.
This Riffs at 20:06 and 20:58 is just mega high-quality! Real thrash metal!
My Apocalypse is such a great song. They need to play it more. It reminds me of Damage Inc. so much.
Yup
In this concert Kirk did not miss any solo.
Bonardi 1989 So true
+TheFrayedEndsOfSanity 01 Nice profile pic
Bonardi 1989 In these concerts Kirk was on point.
I miss this kirk
ZI BE We miss Kirk compositions like in The Black Album. Because Hardwired... To Self Destruct was filled of improvised bluesy solos. And live he is hit and miss for the videos I saw in this year.
1:14:11 Kill em' All James scream.
Jump in the fiiiiiiYAAAHH
Best 'Tallica album since Justice.
Yeah for me as well..
Agreed!
Lars was ON FIRE in 2008-2009!
They all were in 2008 to 2009
Edit: especially Kirk, Lars, and Robert
2008 was a great year
2011 not so much
Buckshot Jones 2019 is also a great year for em all
@@recipoldinasty true, saw them in Amsterdam. They are in great shape right now!!
2010 too
oh man I fucking love this channel to death you are the best metfan4l.
Thanks for watching!
Good job bro...
Thats was just your life, the best first track is recent years.
The Unforgiven III
Do u hear that crowd reaction?....that's the power of this masterwork of a rock album
Suicide Redemption is such a perfect sound and they only played it a few times ...
Only once I believe
@@Specialguy29 twice. They played it on the 30 years of Metallica show
I need to revisit the album. I've forgotten how good it is
I thought that Unforgiven III was the weakest song in this album, but after I listen said song few times, I must say there is no weak song in DM...I love them all..
I liked 1&2 alot but can't get into 3..i'll give it a few more spins
Broken Beat & Scarred is the only song that I thought was meh, at least compared to the demo version of it. Otherwise, the album is thoroughly excellent and shouldn't be overlooked!
I actually love Unforgiven 3 and consider it one of the stronger songs on the album. I actually prefer Unforgiven 3 to 1 or 2.
death magnetic really does stand up as a future classic, it got some killer riffs
How can a true Metallica fan say they hate all the new stuff. If they were true fans they'd appreciate them still putting out music
Wow...with this kind of sound, I forgot how good this album was! Amazing sound and performance...
I loved every song on this album, but that freaking smooth riff/solo in Suicide & Redemption is just so freaking epic
Holy shit. That double bass was a machine gun! Specially on that was just your life.
I was in the Mexico city concert 2009 (that was just, and line). BRUTAL CONCERT
Min 1:02:37 Wow! what an image.
Ikr
Dude this KICKS ASS!! Thank you so much for this!
That drumming sounds monster
for sure Robert absolutely great 🤘
man this album really is all over the place but it got its moments. Suicide and redemption is absolutely sublime.
😂 All over the place 🤔 hmmm
@@Phix75My favorite part of the albums is when James said "It's Death Magnetic time" and Death Magneticked all over the place
Min 1:05:14 That moment is so epic what a song.
Yes, they are & they'll always be the Lords of THRASH METAL!! FOREVER!!
Fantastic album. Still can't believe they made such an amazing comeback. And they followed it up with another great album.
With albums like Death magnetic I feel really proud remaining a Metallica fan since my 15
Yes
The more the crowd is alive the more metallica play better
which is why they always sound better outside of america and play rarer songs
@@tomk8972 true American crowds these days suck
Death Magnetic is an awesome album, killer riffs great drums and solos
This album is so good every song is as good as every song on the Black album and every song from their albums that they released in the 80s
39:19 - 39:21 the guy is dancing totally in harmony with music
I've been on a kick with this album so this was awesome!!!!
Mexico 2009 is one of the best metallica concerts ever!!! I love it. And Magnetic clearly has better songs than hardwired. Oh and 4:24 Justice era James lol
Finally something I can agree with you rick
Magnetic is definitely better than Hardwired as a whole. But there are songs from Hardwired that are top notch Metallica.
Yes I absolutely love the Mexico City 2009 box set! Great setlist, performances, production and crazy passionate fans :D
metfan4l Yes!! Yeah the setlist was great! Do you have the whole concert of Mexico city 2009? If you have the whole concert, please upload it! :D
ya Spit Out The Bone is the heart and soul of old Metallica i believe Death Magnetic and Hardwired are the best albums since And justice For All better than Black Album Load Reload St Anger its too bad they didnt go this direction in the 90s what they ve done since 2008
I cant believe I've waited this long to see this live video. Unreal
I believe that somewhere in the world, there are people who feel the same emotions that I feel when I listen to masterpieces like this song.
I had to listen to fan mixings and live performances for this album and man it’s pretty solid it’s MOP worthy well in my opinion just feel bad I took this album for granted
this is ,, always ,, be my favourite album by them.
i love the energy
i love the sound
i love the beat
perfect
I love Death Magnetic. I was introduced to Metallica when I was 9 years old in 1983.I got Death Magnetic (DM) ranked only behind 1-AJFA, 2- RTL, 3-MOP, and 4-KEA. It may just be me, but I think its heavy as fuck !!!
Thanks for teaching an old school Met fan some new tricks! Great album!! Loved The Unforgiven 3!!!
Death magnetic is one of my fav METALLICA albums
Likewise.. I have such a new appreciation for it in the last few years it really is one of their most cohesive albums from start to finish its up there with MOP and Justice for me. 🤘
Thanks for the compilation!
This is sick ,thanks bro 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Holy double bass Lars! What happened man. You been on that MTN DEW man. Whatever you was on they need to put you back on it
Garry Darcy sniff
Father time is coming for you too my friend

One of my Fav Metallica Albums by far...... this kicks so much ass and it brings you back...way back to the beginning at the same time. Love this !!!!!!!!!!!
i was at this when they came to Melbourne .. in Australia ... was fucking awesome !,,!
I wish they would play suicide and redemption again that song is awesome and Kirk and James really made some magic together with their solos

One of their Best Albums in my opinion
If someone ever tells me Kirk is overrated, I'll just send them a link to this video
This video and the Guitar Hero mix made Death Magnetic not just accessible, but enjoyable as well. The songs on this album are solid and have a lot of energy. Thanks for putting this video together!
amazing dude! best channel

I saw this tour right up front in Sydney and listening to this 13 years later just brought it all straight back to me. Epic performance and Death Magnetic is a killer album. Long Live Metallica! 🤟🏻
I never could get into this album when it came out. Now I think it's great and it sounds so good live
Awesome thanks!
I love how most of the thi video takes place in México
Saludos mis amigos.
Thank you for this awesome set I love your channel this is my favorite band ever finding this page makes me so happy the ride the lightening live set bought me to your page I’ve got nothing but love and respect for what you put together my fellow metfan4life brother
Thanks for the kind words :)
This album works really well live. Nearly every song sounds best when played live.
7:14, 12:36, 17:02, 24:29, 43:43
Holy shit...did not know that James playing lead on suicide and redemption
CazzSDMF not on the album, just sometimes live and on Guitar Hero
Lmao Suicide and Redemption JH and KH
What a performance! Madness..
I borowed this album in the library because i was poor. My first album of metallica. And i loved it. Me neither i don't understand the hate. It's so underrated....
I love this album
they kicked ass like always
Saw them on this tour. It was AMAZING
Thnks uploder.
I think if this album came after justice or black, it would be received differently. The fact that they had that period of load, reload and st anger divided so many, and I think this album was overlooked for that reason, but I think it’s better overall than hardwired, and if those two albums swapped order of release then hardwired would be seen as decent and dm as amazing
Death Magnetic it's still my favorite post-Black Album.. insane riffs
They truly are the greatest
Exelente concierto...
.
I'm still waiting for them to play load live....I'll wait
Load's 25th anniversary tour 2021 - I'm ready!
Triple M Not quite sure if that’ll happen. Maybe they’ll play the remainder of their unplayed songs at a Metallica 40th anniversary’s show in 2021 or 50th in 2031
Load live.....YES......great album
so goooood
imagine this with live performances and production they have on Hardwired tour.
They're considered & they'll always be the Lords of THRASH METAL!!
I love it beautiful sounds.
Solid !!!!
genial !!!!!!!
Abosutely classic performance with classic Metallica album!
