  • Part two of the new signal chain I use for my video demos. This is the Warm Audio TB12 "Tonebeast" and WA76 Compressor. I love these units for a variety of great sounds. Punchy and Dynamic!

    Hats off to the tone in his fingers too!

    All this conversation about compressors and preamps aside...the sound of the guitar is amazing, and the person performing on the guitar is strumming some soul touching vibes.
    It is a trifecta: gear, performance, and the instrument itself.

    hahaha that shirt made in... méxico. Excellent video, the sum of a good musician and a production nerd always give surprising results.

    Go for it, Lance. Your playing is the voice of a thousand spaghetti westerns not yet filmed!

    Bought and received both units today. I still haven´t unpacked them yet but I will in a short while. Thanks for a great demo that really convinced me.

    Thank you guys for this. I've been curious to run a rig like Lance is talking about for live playing. I thought that if you need a preamp, a studio unit like this should be a more than viable option. Unfortunately there are next to NO demos out there showing guitar direct like this. That first couple of minutes of music blew my mind. For lovers of clean tone that sounded like the clouds parting and heaven descending. Really amazing clarity. I know it's an 'electric' guitar but the strings ring acoustically first. That sounded like a brand new set of strings and plucking the low E right next to your ear. But louder of course. Just gorgeous.

    I got rid of my ToneBeast and regretted it months later. I just purchased the WA12 MK2 Black about two weeks ago. I also got rid of my WA76. I didn't get the 76 back again, this time I went with the LL2A compressor limiter from Little Labs. The WA12 MK2 and the Little Labs compressor work GREAT TOGETHER!!!! I will never get rid of another piece of great again. Learned my lesson.

    this signal chain on guitar sounds unreal. Did you run guitar into tb12 out of tb12 into wa76 out of wa76 to board? Or did you use the insert of the tb12? thanks

    My Wa76 is coming this week!!! I had it modded by Revive Audio though. Everybody kept telling me that the 76 looses the bottom end when pushed hard, and thats why I decided to get one that was modded. Warm Audio is a great company, but they cut too many corners on the 76's. I heard the Wa2A is a better build, and I already own the Tone Beast which is AN ABSOLUTE BEAST true to it's name!!!!

    How do you think about this setup, TB12 - WA76 - WOS (Wall Of Sound - Torpedo Live) for guitar sound in DI? Is a good idea?

    Is the compressor in the insert of the tonebeast or after it ?

    Im sold on buying a tonebeast. Just wondering how much difference that converters are making in the Symphony. I can only afford a focusrite forte. Im sure there much better but it wont be night and day.

    Curious: with the wa76 having balanced in/out, and the tb12 having unbalanced inserts, how did you choose to wire it? Thanks

    • @turksanchez
      @turksanchez 10 місяців тому

      Not using the insert ~ balanced out pre>limiter>a/d in series

  • @freaksarise
    @freaksarise 9 років тому

    to clarify: the insert of the tb12 into the wa76 and then go from tb12 to board?

    Can the wa76 stand along or do you have to send it through something first?

    • @losttiger1512
      @losttiger1512 9 років тому

      More a matter of how you go into the WA76, it lacks a DI, needs a line level in. It does have a make up gain stage and I believe you could get enough output.

      Nice sound btw. I dig the drop tune. Everybody on the youtube uses the normal tuning so this is kinda fresh for my ears.

    Too much compression no dynamics. This would make a player like Larry Carlton sound less creative.

      well since I don’t play jazz or listen to it I guess that’s ok.

    • @JasonWright-mc6dz

      Seriously..? Im not so sure about that (can’t tell if you’re joking) Carton’s an expert at adapting to almost any environment & making it work on the fly during a session!
      I realize even high end compression like this can make certain players sour.. The idea of squeezing/limiting the amount of natural articulation/dynamic range available is the very worst possible scenario for a guy like Josh Smith, Or a Robin Trower..

      @JasonWright-mc6dz Місяць тому

      @mikemarshall5312
      -Besides..Even assuming you’re listening via high end reference monitors, high sensitivity flat frequency drivers in a sound conditioned studio environment etc; You’re still only getting a general picture of the sounds they’re hearing live.And I’m willing to bet you heard this through a smartphone/laptop/ear-budz/or the like.. 😉
