Every company I know of that makes an aftermarket hydraulic brake fluid lock. Sells them as a parking brake assist, setup. I have been driving wreckers, rollbacks, dump trucks and the like. Nearly, all my life. I do not know of any hydraulic brake lock. Designed to be used, as a stand alone, primary parking brake. Any I have ever used. Have always, stated. setting the parking brake. Then, engaging the hydro lock. The only brake lock systems I know of, designed to be used as primary brake locks. Are air brakes and that is because. They work in such a way. That the air prevents the brake from being engaged. The air pressure dropping to zero. causes the brakes, to lock tight. Hydro brake locks, are temporary. Good for line locks. To accomplish burnouts and for holding vehicles for loading/unloading. Long term parking brakes are mechanical.
Just did my e39it cables this week.. super stuck in the hubs. Fun times. Could we get a overview video of the spank wagon? M54b30?, gt30? , 5 speed? lotta miles on that set up? What size tires? Ect ect .. Inquiring minds want to know.
I was thinking a ball valve in the rear would allow me to use it as an ebrake and also to shut off flow with no pressure so I could use it like a reverse line lock and divorce pedal input from rear braking.
This car is single caliper. My drift car and my beretta will run duals. The fluid volume is sooo small that any little passage in the valve causes a big pressure drop
Wonder if there's an electric handbrake module that doesn't suck to interface with? If it's tucked under the car somewhere pulling on the factory handbrake cable then you just need room for a switch in the car.
What style brake is the stock set up? Drum for the e-brake? If you are looking to retrofit the stock cables with a motor of some sort, maybe a linear actuator would work good to pull on both cables at the same time and maybe even hide above the driveshaft in the tranny tunnel
hey can you please do a video where you break down the cost of boosting your e39 and maybe how you did it with possibly a parts list? there is maybe one series (not the best quality) out there of someone turboing a e39. I have a 530i/5spd car that I've been dying to turbo but it just doesn't have the support like other cars do and this is all very new to me so it would help a ton!
@@spankranchgarage but did you connect two lines which were going to individual left and right wheel from ABS pump with a T connector and then to the e-brake pump? Or did you ran from rear master cylinder then to hydro e-brake and then from hydro to ABS? I’m asking because I did 1st solution I e39 and now I tried the second solution in e60 and it doesn’t work. But maybe I have bleed the system badly.
@@telegummis I believe I intercepted the single line going from the rear port of the master cylinder to the ABS block. This way I only had to deal with 1 line instead of 2.
@@spankranchgarage Thank you for answer. That’s how I made it in the e60 and hydro barely works and I can hear bubbling sound in the Abs pump when I try to use the brake. I’ll try to bleed the system better. I’m using that car for drifting so I need the e-brake to lock rear wheels :p
Can't win them all. Thanks for taking the time to put this together
You could try using something to hold the hydro handbrake in place and see if its worth designing some kind of lockout device.
I have never been so disappointed in my life... I was really hoping for a spanky solution to my e-brake problems lol
TRUST THE SCIENCE

I actualy have seen somwhere hydro ebrakes with ratchet mechanism included. Maybe that whould be a option?
If the master holds tight it should work. Certainty an option to explore
Thanks for sharing… made my decision to stay mechanical 😢
Hey man do you have any vidoes or can make one on how you set up your hydro e brake lines
I ❤️ the spank wagon
I'm impressed with your drive recently
@@tuckermartin5559 thank you sir
Try to do mechanical e-brake with Mercedes pedal and cables?

Drew I will make that video in the future when I get a moment. It’s a great car and I’d be happy to share the setup with everyone
Great video. My plan for the Beretta all along has been a ball valve. Now I'm also questioning that a bit. No fluid loss in the system anywhere?

That’s a good idea! I’ll keep an eye out at the junkyards. I haven’t played with any electric ebrakes yet

@@0tink9 Drum in rotor. I do have some room under the tunnel to possibly make something happen
Do you have a video where you show the install of this hydro brake?
I dont, sorry
Trust me don't try to park with your hydraulic handbrake, I paid for a brand new electric garage door

did you ever end up sending it and get it boosted?
how did you have plumbed the hydro on this vehicle?
I tapped in at the ABS module then ran lines into the interior for the hand brake
