    At age 46 I was diagnosed with 56 tumors with the largest as big as a grapefruit. No symptoms, was caught on a routine exam by a Wonderful doctor. Went thru 7 months of chemo after 4 feet of colon removal called a resection. I was given 3-5 years but still going well after 8 yrs. every year they take out 13-28 more polyps. Just a maintenance, no big deal guys. Good luck!! Feel free to ask questions:)

    I’m an active woman in 40s and asked for a colonoscopy and I already have polyps and need to repeat the exam again. I don’t drink or smoke. I don’t eat red meat. I’ve already cut a lot of rice and bread in my diet. I am not prediabetic and take no medicine. I can likely increase my vegetable and fruit intake. I probably get 3 -5 servings but not every day. Some days you don’t have time to eat or cook much…. I’m seeing younger people with these issues. It’s a conundrum. Get tested early!

    Thank you. I’ve heard you need to avoid processed food to prevent cancer. How do you do that in this day and age unless you live on a farm and raise and grow your own food? All food in stores have been processed in some way in order for you to get it. Because it says it’s fresh doesn’t mean it’s fresh, it’s been touched and manipulated in some way. Too much of anything is not good. Just eat in moderation as much as you can. Someone mentioned read meats are bad. Maybe so, especially if you eat it red and still bleeding.

      I had a endoscopy today ,the prep yday was awful started it at 1pm and sat on the loo waiting as fidnt k how how quick it would work got thru the 4 glasses of the first and expelled so much until 5 pm ,I didnt want to move as everytime I thought about getting up more came out,i was freezing needed hit water bottles brought to me and a blanket, my legs and butt was numb from sitting g do long,had a banging headache, finally laid down for a bit at 5.30pm before starting the next sachet at 7pm then started all over again with next lot of vile stuff lol I was so hungry ,finally finished at 11 pm and got a bath and into bed. Well thrh done the procedure I said i would just have gas and air to start with and sedation if I needed it,I thought they would give me the gas and air first before starting anything but he just started ,it was so painful they gave me the gas and air then that wasn't enough I was in agony and crying and my heart rate went crazy and was hyperventilating, they gave my sedation and carried on. Found a few polyps and removed them.
      I'm si glad it all over felt like an ordeal last 2 days.
      My advice is just get the sedation straight away and ask for the gas and air before they start going In.

My polyps had to be at the entrance to the small bowel on the right side, which was the worst to take as the doc shouts transverse move and I felt as if the alien from the movie was going to break through my belly!! Lol If I have to get any more stuff done I'd take the total sedation option. I wasn't told they'd see me in 3 years just that biopsy result in 6 weeks could lead to more intervention ie the big C result!! Hope that helps others as the gas and air made no difference. 😮

      @MedicalCentric  3 місяці тому +2

      If you had a polyp removed during your colonoscopy in 2019, it's generally recommended to have follow-up colonoscopies to monitor for new polyps or other changes. The frequency depends on factors like the type, size, and number of polyps found, as well as your personal and family medical history. Typically, follow-up colonoscopies are recommended every 3 to 10 years, so it would be wise to consult your doctor about whether it's time for another screening based on your specific situation.

      There's a specific ct scan for your colon I believe. I had an abdominal scan with contrast for a hernia and nothing was mentioned about polyps though I'm confident I have them.

      When you inhale, the tobacco enters the bloodstream through your lungs and then to the rest of your body. Every cell, in every organ of your body is exposed to the tobacco you are inhaling all day long, 24/7 & 365. After years of tobacco abuse, damage is likely to occur. Some people are more predisposed than others for certain cancers.
      A family friend was a heavy smoker and drinker. He suffered for about 3 years with colon, liver, and kidney cancer. He eventually died in his prime, at 48 years old, leaving behind a wife and 4 young children.
      My mother was a heavy smoker (2-3 packs per day) for 45 years. She quit smoking at 62 years old, but she did a lot of damage all those years.
      She first had lung cancer diagnosis at 79 years old, had surgery (for tumor removal) and went through chemo. She was cancer free for 6 years.
      The cancer returned after 6 years, but this time it had spread throughout her entire left lung and, of course, inoperable. She died at 85 years old.
      While 85 is considered old, she was otherwise healthy, without any other illness. No high blood pressure or diabetes, just the cancer. She probably would have lived to be 100 years old, because she was a very strong woman and was active all her life.
      So don't be fooled into thinking smoking is not the cause of cancer, because it is. It shortens your life, unnecessarily. Thinking otherwise is just being in a state of denial to justify your habit.
