Leeja, my personal impression as a foreign viewer from Switzerland is that race isn't the problem for many republicians, it's what even makes this industrial worker angry. We have no sense for the softening of genders. Neither some transsexuals have and i ask my self why the democrats have to support this?
This i also apart from other things why i can't since long no more indentify with our swiss social parties, and i know many workers and crafters think exactly as me. The democrats lost a lot of voters because of this ranting of a, pardon me, neglectible and for their situation self responsible minority.
liberteé fraterniteé egaliteé in honor, but are they really willing to support the society?
Don't you think to that it is just an overxaggarated behave?
That this is the wrong direction to go?
I was quite close with the punks in Zürich in the '80s, but you know i also criticized their unwill to support society, it doesn't works in this manner.
---
Something i noticed is that all of the transsexuals who recently don't feel welcome anymore in the lgtbt+ community make a living out of it or earn their money in a job, they are already well integrated or ok established but as long as you aren't to death established.
And that is also what many of them makes angry "they destroy the acceptance we builded up in the last 30 years!"
And i'm really a lazy ass myself.
If i would have had just a little bit more will to make a career it would have been quite easy to me to find a good position in high fashion - unfortunately i preferred to hang out with punks 😁

And don't you think psychiatry has become a long arm of the pharma (speculators)?
It's something i experienced myself, since i participated for a year in a daytime clinic.
In general i was only there to get rid of a wrong attest, but i stayed for a year since i was rather a co-worker as a participant.
After this year i should visit a psychiatrist weekly for a conversation.
At the first meeting she handed my a booklet about bipolar disorder (why? there was nothing observed)
*I've read it and it isn't funny what i have read in it respectively how it was written in a very suggestive manner, it was almost as to read Hubbards dianetik, not the topic but the suggestive writing. Next week i smashed this piece of shit on her table and said: "any naive who will read this must believe he has a bipolar disorder"*
They like to make you mentally sick only to sell pharmaceutics!
I even looked always very sceptical at this claim that they would go this far, but it is an experience and similar books about other psychic diseases will be written in the same suggestive manner, i'm pretty sure.
(but i never trusted them, my master left the pharma in the '70s, for good rasons, "it's only for good of the speculators" - his words)

Educator here. What is funny about the cursed "CRT" is there is CRT in K-12 public education, but conservatives are too lazy to research what it is.
While CRT in upper level law classes is Critical Race Theory, CRT in K-12 education stands for Culturally Responsive Learning.....or understanding the cultural norms of a group of students and working within that culture to meet the students where they are.

We must make an effort to go out and vote this November and support the Democratic candidates. We must vote blue once more, America. The majority of us want to preserve our freedom and continue fighting for this democracy. Therefore, if we fail to go out and vote, we must hold ourselves accountable and not blame anyone else. Let us all exercise our right to vote.
You don't want to "preserve freedom". You want to punish your enemies, reward your allies, and make sure government keeps getting bigger, even if that requires electing someone who's pushing ninety and losing it.
Why? Genuinely why? I don't get it.. It's almost like stockholm syndrome voting for the Democrats.
I had ancestors who owned other human beings. Definitely uncomfortable. But it's no reason not to move forward and do what I can to undo some of the harm.
you never miss, Leeja!! Thank you so much for continuing to provide us with such vital historical and political information.
I miss the days when DEI was simply a NASCAR team.
I can only speak for myself. I subscribed to your channel because I always enjoy the opinion and expertise of a smart person. Thank you!
As a NLP practitioner i see why they are on the propaganda creating a negative feeling towards these terms and concepts.
Creating the negative feelings on those words keep those in their ecosystem blind to what those terms and words actually mean.
Because it's a threat to their power
As a straight white man (former Rush Limbaugh and Ronald f*n Reagan fan)- I have to say, you nailed it. DEI isn't perfect and there's legit criticism. But OMG many of its concepts and its objectives are needed if we want to function as a welcoming society. Thanks for all your hard work at putting this together! This is hands down one of the best discussions I've heard on this topic.
Because they have no policies to help people, so they use fear.
Democrats are the party selling fear porn.
BINGO! make the less powerful fight amongst eachother so they don’t look up at the rich and see how corrupt they are
Right. They think government should do the opposite of helping people.
They consider progress to be increases in human misery.
I recommend that you listen to Gloria Alvarez.
Imagine being far-left but also simping for big business
Because over half of them cannot possibly perform the standard required ability and intelligence.
When i actually have conversation with people we think I fundamentally disagree with, and actually listen without judgment, I’ll most often find there’s a lot more common ground than I would’ve thought… it’s important to stay curious, don’t blindly trust the narrative on either side.
I work with rednecks everyday, I hear them out, it's disgusting, problem solved.
Discrimination in favor of excellence seems to be the correct way to go.
They make their politics look worse by proposing policies that obviously can’t be enforced.
The problem isn’t DEI, it’s the people who were promoted through PIE - privilege, inequality and exclusion.
The shift of the Overton Window is exactly why this country needs more than two legitimate parties. You can’t have the tug of war between the two extreme crazy wings (or at least it’s a lot harder) if there is a reasonable third alternative.
The Democrat party is an extreme crazy wing? You lost me on that one. They're pretty dang milquetoast at their most extreme.
If you think repubs and dems are extreme wait intil you hear about the SocDems and Am.Nazi party
LOL both the Rs and the Ds are owned and guided by their wealthy donors and both have zero concern for what most Americans want. The D's are owned by Wall St, Silicon Valley and Hollywood moguls and the R's are owned by big retail, automakers and fracking billionaires, while _both_ are owned by the military industrial complex and AIPAC.
Agreed about the need for a major political party outside of the duopoly. A _socialist_ major party is needed to represent employees, renters and consumers. Because these groups are completely ignored or even outright resisted by the two established parties, and this can't go on for much longer
Both R and D US politicians are considered "conservative" to most of the world.
@@bazzfromthebackground3696 Yeah, but they're not the extreme 'end' of conservative, clearly. They're just very enthusiastically not progressive by non-US standards.
We believe in "Free Speech!" Here's a list of things you cannot talk about...
I don't understand why anyone would ever want to live in a monocultural place. It sounds so hopelessly boring.
They want Leave it to Beaver, NOT In Living Color. One or two 'others' here or there is fine. THAT they can handle, even learn to like. But when 'others' lurk around every corner, infecting every aspect of life, it scares the ever loving crap out of them, and they lash out.
They have this idea that some cultures are inherently violent than others, at that's what they think here in UK
@neezduts69420 yet they come from the most violent culture in recent history, globespanning violence.

I came into the workforce in the early 1960s and throughout my working career I was put to the back of the bus. Example; a young black guy was hired into work area that grew up in the same neighborhood I did, he went to the same schools did, took the course’s I had in college, had the same instructor I had, I had to go into the military service, he didn’t. I had over thirty years experience he had none. I knew this person’s mother, daddy, granddad, Even back as far as his great grandmother. When came to work I helped train him. In six mouths he got the job. I was told that I should seek other employment.
Maybe he was just better at selling his pitch? These things happen.
I just hope you ended up in a good job, anyway!
@@AlexanderJWF I did , I retired. Now the X generation will go to the back of the bus. Life is good 👍
I see color. I think brown skin is beautiful. As a white person, I often notice the translucent nature of white skin. Especially as we age. That said, your experience is well noted. Our society is so messed up. Republicans seem to think that Leave it to Beaver was actually real life and the pinnacle society should aspire to.
the problem with equity is someone have to make decisions based not on an individual's merits n character. u view people as groups. white the oppressor and black the oppressed. man oppressor , woman oppressed. now this is just the opposite of what we want. a woman was not allowed to be in leadership even if she was intelligent enough because women as a group was viewed as inferior. black were enslaved because they as a group they were inferior to whites. the moment anyone puts people in groups and make decisions through that lens, then another group will start to feel discriminated against. u don't solve oppression , by oppressing yo former oppressor. the cycle will never end. my opinion
New Hampshire republican legislators pushed through a divisive concepts law three years ago that bans any discussion of divisive concepts in schools. They labeled it an “anti-discrimination” law to get it passed.
It was just struck down by a New Hampshire judge thankfully in a lawsuit against the state by the ACLU and the NH teacher’s union but I am sure the AG will appeal it and republicans will fight to save it.
"and because its exhausting and stressful to exist around people you have to perform for all the time.." - ow my heart & ty for all you do
if i was in charge of one of these universities and having to rename these departments, honestly it would be hard not to pull a little bit of a troll and straight up call them
"Department of Woke"
DEI at a recent industrial facility job I had worked great, mostly because of a preponderance of decent people who worked there. The biggest key to success in my opinion is that decent people are OK with DEI *AND* we had a job to get done. The few racists and sexists weren't all that good at their jobs and we also saw some helpful innovations coming from female, Hispanic, black and LGBTQ+ workers who often had different ways of looking at problems from us old white guys. Needing to get the job done naturally helped us see the effectiveness of DEI at work.
I’ve experienced people who try to choose their words carefully around me when it comes to sexuality. They’re afraid if they say “boyfriend” and find it’s girlfriend, or vice versa, they’ll somehow be “in trouble”, but the reality is that I just laugh most of that off.
I think there is a percent of people who are afraid to get it wrong for fear they’ll be “cancelled”, but the truth is that in the vast, vast majority of cases people don’t jump straight to offended, especially if it’s an honest mistake.
There are of course the people who seem to get off on being offended by everything, even if it doesn’t apply to them, but they need to be… taught… almost as much as the people who purposefully get off on being racist or sexist etc.
The advice should be “take a few deep breaths and think about it before you get outraged”, because even the greatest people sometimes fuck up or have blind spots. That being said, racists, homophobes, sexists et al SHOULD be called out for their bullshit. But you need to establish it’s more than just a mistake or a blind spot before jumping to the conclusion that they’re clearly Hitler’s biggest fan.
There's an excellent book "The Equity Myth" which goes into how Canadian universities equity is.. well mostly a myth and how things actually got worse between the 90s and 2010s. While it was published in 2017 so it may not be completely accurate today it still shows how most equity policies and diversity touted by universities has no actual teeth and is mostly performative, to give outsiders the illusion they are diverse and equal. Also critiques Neo liberalism heavily which is always nice.
On a merit based system a certain race does not perform well, so DEI became the answer. Asians for instance do too well and the DEI types needed to put a stop to that.
DEI like EEOC are designed to make sure a 5'4" man gets on the basketball team. Sort of like dropping the net 2 feet so the short guy can get some baskets.
You're misunderstanding how it works. You still need to be qualified for the school or job to be considered. DEI and affirmative action just make it harder for people making hiring/acceptance decisions to ignore women and nonwhite people who are qualified. White women were actually the demographic that benefited the most from affirmative action.
"This is the worst kind of discrimination: THE KIND AGAINST ME!"
Where are all these blacks taking job outside of sports and entertainment?
I've only seen one or two blacks at every company I ever worked for in my life and I'm elderly.
I'm glad someone is finally standing up for the little guy here, us white men are being discriminated against constantly. I'm 27 and have known nothing but oppression since my mother was informed I would be Caucasian 💀
xD
Comments I have one remark, call us racist harder. Maybe it will work..
I'm not a fan of dei. It's a bad solution to a complex problem. I prefer a solution that results in equal educational opportunities for all, at all levels. That means that minorities are never at a disadvantage.
It's a band-aid I agree. But it's better than nothing. But we need to actually heal the wounds instead of slapping band-aids on them.
Dei tries to compensate for the inequality rather than get rid of the inequality. Take care of the problem from the start.
I kind of agree. It’s never sat very comfortably that our solution to black poverty is to hire them to work for white owned companies. If we want equality, owning property and businesses is key because holding onto to fruits of your own labor and being able to invest in your own community go a lot farther than anything else. Don’t know how to actually get this done, but historically most power comes from owning things.
@@coachtaewherbalife8817inequality where? Everyone has equal opportunity under the law. If an employer intentionally discriminates against a demographic group, they're violating the civil rights amendment. DEI only serves to worsen race relations in the United States by undermining meritocracy
@@coachtaewherbalife8817what inequality?
To anyone who is still in the mindset of, "I don't see color," consider that argument for any other form of sectionality:
Gender? I don't see gender. I treat men the exact same way I treat women.
Age? I don't see age. I treat 4 y.o.s the same way I treat 40 y.o.s the same way I treat 80 y.o.s.
Religion? I don't see religion. I treat Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, atheists, agnostics, & Scientologists exactly the same.
Species? I don't see species. I treat humans and dogs and cows and misquitoes and sycamores and blue algae all exactly the same.
See, it *kinda* makes sense, but the longer you think about it, the more it becomes clear that, no, it really doesn't and never has.
That's why we need Equity instead of Equality.
Marginalized communities feel like what they are going to say will get them killed, not canceled. It's a garbage argument.
Because they have to complain about something in order to distract from them accomplishing nothing.
My daughter took performing arts at community college. She found the students to be warm and have a family feeling. Contrast that to Syracuse University -- although to be fair it was pandemic year and things were just "off". Great explanation!
Racism
No. Fairness, and being an adult.
Equality not equity
Nah equity is better
I used to think that AA was just a different discrimination. Now that I, as an autist, am looking for work again, I'm very glad DEI exists. I can't find work without it.
The corprate music at 7:40 really got me 😭😭 the detail is appreciated lmfaooo
The true all inclusive goal should be color blindness, we are Americans, she's absolutely wrong about bringing it up constantly helping.
If this country's federal, state and local governments along with it's citizens had been meritocratic in the first place there would be no need for any of this. Instead there were laws written in place that actually crippled the advancement of certain demographics then when those laws were finally done away with we still had to deal with "The Good ol boy" network and "The Gentlemen's Agreement". If it weren't for all that we wouldn't be dealing with this situation in the first place. Try thinking about this before you dismiss it.
I'm just so exhausted. I don't want to live through literal globally historically significant events anymore 😭
