Glad I could help . so i didnt put any new glue in, also helps in future, if some of the old sticky still there it sufficently holds, when clipped back together.

power down before you start , best to disconnect battery also
well on that level should have static earth strap on arm, and not using kitchen knife also .

Yeah so I got two replacement screens for my two daughters and did what you said. Now they are both broke and have to buy new ones. Wish never did it now xx

Heatingup around the edges of the screen with hot air will make it a lot easier to remove
Absolutely especially with a knife, instead of them poo plastic things. so the reason for vid. No tools vid & quite a few folk have heat destroyed there kindles. Obviously naively damaged with the iron directly on the screen. Yeah any heat heat over 75 centigade will start making easier to remove . nicely pointed out.

I have done this on my daughters amazon kindle fire 7. The new screen works fine. Touch screen fine then wouldnt work when i put the back back on.
Its working with the back on but only if i dont 'pop' the top left corner of the back into place. Any ideas why?

there is a braded cord that on the right hand side of pcb , once turned round to screen side that braided wire is now on the left it controls the video info. so with back of im guessing a slight pressing on it will turn screen off. If thats the case its potential that the back now has a slight bevel on it so when placed on it puts pressure on that lead to the video process chip. If thats not it I have not got a foggest. hope it helps.

Hi Ritchie, i have broken my screen but have a spare broken kindle, can i transfer the screen without breaking the digitiser?
It depends if both kindles are exactly the same model , ie a amazon kindle 5 screen will not work in a kindle 8 or vise verser. BUT IF THEY ARE SAME TYPE IT SHOULD WORK, do not forget that if screen is not working it may be the main board that has stopped working or the vga chip. but if they are not working , you might as well give a try. the small ribon cable on the right top side;;i think . can be tricky if not placed back correctly and you can get colour distortion if not correctly placed back and correct force keeping it back in place. it also has a sticky anti static tab keeing it in place . so make sure to put that back. please if you try and suceed or not get back to me so i know how it went. also be sure to disconect battery as it small current from doing this work can disrupt the chip. good luck and well worth trying if they are not working at moment.

Yes you can to open. May be a bit trickier removing the screen. But I'm game to give it a try.
You seem to be doing this repair quite often so I am surprised that you haven't invested in the special tool also known as a spudger. They are useful precisely because they are made of plastic and so don't mess up the edge around the tablet. Also, using a sharp knife seems extremely dangerous. One slip and you would have disembowelled yourself.
Yeah Ive got them for phone use, they are really poor on the kindle and most of all the glue off the screen is really hard off the screen otherwise. My method is certainly a lawsuit in the making. Works also best with hot water bottle to ease of screen by warming off , but as video USP is how to with no tools, i went the road I did. thanks so much for your comment.

Hello! Don't you have to remove the battery first? My screen isn't cracked. The tablet is just frozen on The Amazon logo. Help!
removing the battery is just done so you do not short whilst disconection of wirers. hmm stuck on screen. what happens once its totaly powered down and re started.
@@RichieWellock That's just it! Won't power down. I am going to try replacing the digitizer!
if command power down does not work, press constantly on power on button until it turns off, this can be twenty seconds constant of pressing button, then it push into power down. leave for at least a minute before you attempt power on. if it does not work after that it serious and if in warranty needs sending off.
this should work and have attempted a few times to try. once frozen the digi is usualy automaticaly disabled. so just give a try and let me know in the comments
how is battery replacement in one of these?
yeah thanks @Preston wilks , I will eddit and bring out soon, ive just need to edit and do. So the battery is a soft square pack that despite having one battery number (forgot for now) it has two very diffrent connections , you can get for 15 quid of ebay. it is stuck down by tape . if you check my vids i may have a vid for a similar amazon battery removal. But tell me your prob as may not be battery.
@@RichieWellock it takes Approximately 800 years to charge to full. maybe a charge port, might not be worth fixing.
@@prestoBMXs ok Im sure you have tried but always worth the basics , dif adapter or usb lead as if it does not have correct MA current it will trickle charge if you are lucky or more other it will even drain bat, even though you are charging it. this rarely happens with port defficiancy. But can in fact most usb not charging on ports are miss diagnosed as most people will hear that usb power lost by screen visual or the audio of that drop out noise of no longer charging. this can happen for battery ill charging or usb fit or adapter power below the shold. as when it checks power through put it desides it is not tolerances required( real reason not authenticated amazon power adapter) Happy days if it is battery malfunction as easy swap out or that of authentic adapter. As to if it is the usb port, well its a real bitc# to do.

ive done 15 successfully of these and had only 1 casualty my 1st one. ive done other videos on tweaking the process and other repairs. better than just throwing away . the screens are about £ 7 -10 on ebay or amazon. Its probably a lot harder than the eaze i show in the video . but It makes for a challenge. be cafe full if you use knives to open like my self . good look
it may look easy how he handle the knife, but if you are not careful, you may end up hurting yourself. you should take measures to avoid cutting your tummy or any limbs for a cheap fix.
hmm i could do with a bit of a tummy tuck . yeah guys not good for kids to try.
The adult (me) broke the screen haha my kids have never broken them!
rather the screen getting that pent up school holiday tension rather than the kid, cheaper than therapy . lol

@@djcyclonewind1389 digitiser are heat sensitive and heat guns are used only to un do the excessive heat glue used.( Its a no tools video ) so tried not use the safe method of hot water bottle. ie everyman items. knives are great and do rate them so much higher than guitar plectrums that are better than the plastic crap tools that come in digi kits. the only problem with them is danger of hurting yourself or touching any electical connection, but even plectrums can carry static charge. knives are exceptional good at removing glue and plectrums are for the liberal weak who want to make videos on safely opening with guitar picks.
What I do when the screen (underneath the digitizer) itself is broken.

ok thats some crack that caused that, ok do same as with this with digi , order a lcd screen also the cable run is above the battery on right side or 07:20 in my video its a square block above the battery. if you can fit the digi you can fit the screen. BUT as having digi problem and screen also it may be just better to get new tablet. as economic repair is getting there. If you think of your time also . hope it helps
ok just had re think, what if your digi is cracked and your screen cable has come out and makes you think the lcd screen is broken. have a check of that as it will look like the lcd is cracked, if you remove you will know by taking of the digi screen. if the screen does not illuminate check the connections to lcd. then you will know for sure. have fun

yep been there too, stuff on memory card is easy . but without putting in pasword to internal of kindle you cannot copy its none memory card files. tbh thats the reason I 1st discovered how to change the digi and screen my self. ive got a few amazon kindle vids out, but most of my vids are dark mines I disappear down, please check out.

Yeah well thats how I learnt how to replace them as I had to, after sitting on. Screens easy to get just buy a new replacement screen . Husbands not as easy to find suitable replacements. Time to buy a new screen
Hey, why do you move so much the tablet? You need to figure out how to record the video in a way that the images are steady, I understand you need to show the back part when installing the new screen but as you move the tablet so much is hard to follow you. Sorry but this is not helpful at all
i would have done differently, if done again, but most people have mentioned the other videos as not showing the screen change realistically and as if they magically now showed the screen on helps no one either. sorry it was not helpful to yourself.
