I've had both for some time and they are great. The only thing is that the JSTA elastic mag pouches are just okay, Wiseman Company sells inserts that are so much better for re-indexing
I run a JSTA on a belt as a “micro battle belt.” You can throw it on any belt with the loop, and you can instantly give access to a rifle mag, a pistol mag, admin, and medical to yourself or a buddy. I have it on my personal belt, and I plan on having a couple more to hand out in a time of need. Good review. Good product. Keep it up dude.
I have several JSTA pouches on different belts, plate carriers and rigs. Admin stuff, a mag and small thermal monocular fit nicely. Could also be a med pouch.
I hemmed and hard about getting the GST a pouch for a while. I’m so glad I got it. I’ve actually found it to be super useful. A lot of the times I just put it on my belt and then I have a nice big or purpose pouch that I can use it fits magazines and other things very specifically said I have to keep running specific magazine pouches, and i can change it quickly.
Had my jsta for prob a year or more great for my duty belt as a decent utility/dump pouch, that allows me to carry hand cuffs door pin pinch and and perfect you tossing my phones and radio in. I tuck the flap on the jsta and then it has basically 3 spots to stuff stuff
I use the JSTA on my duty belt for my emergency reload, two sets of flex cuffs, flex cuff cutters, and my handcuff key. It’s worked really well in that regard and allows me to keep the flex cuffs off my back.
JSTA seems like slightly the platatac billy patrol pouch v2 which is 4 wide; fits 2 mags across in the back pocket, comes with a pistol retainer. Main pouch fits saw mag (apparently; as an Aussie I don't have a SAW). Down sides see it has a harder top with edges, no velcro for lid (only clip) so no adjustable heigh/slimline modes, no "holes" in the side molle for the running of cord.
I love both of these and I don't really know why. They've lived in my head rent free since I first saw them. I think I have no choice but to buy them and decide for myself if they work. What I'm really curious about is if the JSTA works well on either side of a micro rig, with a rucksack
Im strongly considering replacing the Haley mag pouch on my belt with the JSTA for more GP space and a spot for my multitool, but I really prefer kydex for mag retention and re-indexing. I might get it just to experiment with.
Theres companies that sell kydex inserts for the JSTA. I love mine plenty of room for activities. I use it for speed reload for pistol and rifle. While have a pistol and rifle elsewhere on my belt with retention. You can also store the inserts deeper in the pouch to make them more retained.
instead of the jsta, check out Midwest armors gp pouch, they have one that also holds 2 mags in the back, its a great way to build gp on a rig and alow for more ammo
I also found the mutant to be meh, and sold mine off. It didn’t fit what I wanted and seemed purpose driven for radio kit, which, if that’s what you need, all good. Currently testing the jsta and like that you can effectively get an extra mag pouch combined with a GP and dividers
Yhe JSTA is a pouch I always wanted to like. The sled inserts from unobtanium work great for mags. Problem is i am cross dominant. I would prefer a version for 2x pistol mags with sled insert, but such a pouch does not exist.
There aren’t many pouches that I’ve found that will replace the USMC SAW pouch IMO. Tried Nixie pouches, wasn’t a fan. Don’t want to spend more than that just to learn (another) expensive lesson. Also “acrost”. Lol
usmc saw pouches are excellent. The 500d variants of the M60 pouches as well. I think they're underrated as hell, great for just carrying a bunch of crap and/or whatever you pick up
Was gonna say the same thing. The mutant is essentially the same footprint as an Eagle 200 Rd SAW pouch. Surplus is my first go to, then if there's a pouch that solves a more specific solution like the JSTA, you can add that when needed

Thanks for the Wise Men Company info. Just ordered a few of the doubles. Appreciate it.

Garand Thumb claims Travis Haley
starting to look like you're claiming GearSkeptic 😂

Great video PA. Can’t wait for the review video on the minuteman bag!!!
I use the mutant as a radio/nods pouch and it does that nicely.

Got a mutant pouch I run on a split chest rig , it’s great pouch .
Been listening to ur whole channel today at work lmao

Thank you for this comparison
Been running my JSTA for over a year on my belt. If you are on the fence about getting one. DO IT!

@@austinnevitt7922 I didn't know that, I'll be sure to go look for one!
@@travelingspartan2035 unobtainium gear has one of their sleds insert for jsta, made with tegris instead of kydex

Could you recommend a good radio pouch.
check out midwest armor their gp pouch is awesome and holds 2 mags and zips so you get a bunch of dirt in the pouch.

What are the dimensions of the loop section inside the JSTA pouch?
Does a 1qt canteen fit in the Mutant?

If you think u really need one to complete your setup then I think there worth it. That being said surplus options are 75% as good and much cheaper

@@tribe_of_trees 👍
Tight fit on the nalgene but I'd imagine a standard issue canteen would fit pretty well
If you get the mad dogs you can run 3 as molotovs… fyi

can you buy me a primary arms 3x micro prism please for my birthday 🎉🎉🎉
