Done my part as the best I can Bruce, hope thy reply back to all of us. Dear , I have been a devoted follower of Mr. Bruce Simpson's channel for over a decade. Recently, I became aware of efforts to restrict Mr. Simpson from flying at the Tokoroa airfield and its surrounding areas, where many of his iconic videos have been filmed. As a Sri Lankan deeply passionate about aviation and RC hobbies, Mr. Simpson's channel introduced me to New Zealand, particularly Tokoroa, sparking a desire to visit its airfield, parks, and, most importantly, meet Mr. Simpson, whom I deeply admire. I have just sent all the councillors and mayor, individually, a polite (very polite) email questioning the objectivity and foundation of the regulations concerning UAV activity in the council's jurisdiction.

Hi Bruce, 150 views in 15 minutes. Yes, We will help you with the council. We have been enjoying your channel for years. I will be happy to help stop this totally illegal garbage. Good luck with everything.
This is awful. Like you said, you are the person that before all this has kept us safe in the hobby. You set a good example for all of us and tried to keep us out of trouble. What you have done for this hobby is immeasurable. What’s happening to the hobby is depressing and we need to stand up. We need all creators in the hobby to help out. This video may not have persuaded enough people to email, but maybe if we can get more UA-camrs to make a video. Any way, thank you for all you have done over the years and I really really hope we can do something about this. I have emailed all of them politely and will keep emailing them until something happens.
No.. they're "special". They often get a mention in council communications but the local flyers (especially myself) who are there almost every weekend never rate a word.
Here in the US, sadly you can not get 2 people to agree to do anything about this Hobby and why we are in this nonsense to start with . I hope you get a few thousand to email your council, but I do not expect that many maybe a hundred or so . But a vast array from many different Countries may surprise them . I will await your video's and the Q&A and will look into emailing your council as i assume even in Nz, they have little authority to do what they claim they can do, or they would have already addressed the matter. Silence sometimes is a good thing. Stirring up a stinky mess is not always a good thing . One has to decide which is best, it's your place to decide, we will do our best to help a little
To be honest, I agree with you in regards to numbers -- but I'm ever optimistic. I guess this is a good opportunity to find out whether it's actually worth me continuing my crusade to protect and promote the hobby. If there's no support then I'll likely reconsider what I'm doing in future.
@dougj8186 You have a pessimistic point of view here..Ever hear about Squeaky wheels getting grease ? Have you considered they may respond to Bruce (who IS a constituant) just to Stop the emails ? If you don't like the idea simply don't participate...But your Sarcasm Isn't appropriate.
I assume you were like the many AMA members who copied and pasted ( it is all the drone people's fault, boo hoo hoo ) when they and others asked for your input . And I also assume your ignorance fails to grasp that in all Political realms you have those who bow and refuse to stand up and then you have a few who will stand up regardless of all others. From city councils to State and Federal Governments we all can see their antics on C-Span everyday from several Countries Governments. The ONLY way one gets anything done is by standing up and speaking out and when one does it enough they tend to get others attention on a subject and when someone researches the matter they see how the Government is corrupt and unless one stands up and does something, well you get what we have now in the US a communist puppet who just once again sold the Nation out to it's enemy . Only good thing that came of it was they washed all the feces from the streets and removed the illegals and drug addicts from that area, at least until the Communist dictator leaves . But there again I assume your ignorance believes all is well. @@dougj8186
One thing Councils never like is bad publicity, try contacting your local Newspapers and or local radio station. You have nothing to loose if the Press back you up. Tony in England
Bruce! 1.7k views in the first hour since uploading can't be at all bad. What is bad is the shameful way your local council is behaving in such an extremely unprofessional manner, which is disgusting, quite disgusting. And very undemocratic. The Global radio controlled model community is watching them. And I'm watching them from the UK.
"Dear Council Members, my name is Ghost. I am an American. Let me tell you how to run your country, and give you advice in politics" ... If you listen carefully, you can hear a room full of Kiwis laughing in my general direction. Oh well. Let's go storm the Capitol boys!
Bruce this is what i replied to the council hope i get an answer. Hi is it possible for you to show me the section in witch the CAA mentioned that you have to be a member of the MFNZ or NZJMA to fly an unmanned aerial vehicle. as i was planing a trip to Tokoroa to see and fly my drone with M.Simpson and his friends at the airfield, where they used to have a tower, since i am not a member of those 2 organization could i still fly with the guys? i do have my Canadian pilots license to fly a drone. thank you
Dear council, I follow mr. Bruce Simpson's channel and I have been made aware that there seems to be an ongoing effort to prevent him from flying at the Tokoroa airfield and surrounding areas, which is where most of his historic videos have been shot. I am an Italian guy who knows about Tokoroa and have always wanted to visit because of this living monument you have there. I think it is not an exaggeration to say that mr. Simpson has inspired generations of RC enthusiasts and definitely put your town on the map, he is known and loved worldwide. I wish this matter could be resolved amicably so that we can all go back to enjoying his content and spread the good name of Tokoroa around the planet as a relevant location for those who are into this hobby. Could you kindly update me on this situation? Thank you!
I’ve had a reply now it’s just the same of what you have had said to you Bruce just a useless answer saying what the rules are and you need to comply to them but like you said only about a 100 have sent emails to them so nothing will change, come on subscribers even if you get same answers as mine at least you are showing it’s overreaching their powers and not resolving Bruce’s flying at the field, I feel sorry for this man he’s stuck his head above the parapet to save the hobby and he has over 200k subs and only one % have answered the call it’s bit crap ain’t it
I wonder if people have given up as I couldnt access the site directly, I had to go through a vpn to get anywhere, a list of the councils contact details would maybe help but probably against the rules to post them
My question is submitted via the council website. I would really like to get an answer as its quite upstletting to me as someone that really likes you channel.
Sent them an honest email with my views on the matter. We are all here Bruce. The channel UAV futures sent me here and I feel happy I can make a small difference
Sadly, I have some experience with local government - so you have my sympathy. I'm inclined to send a LGOIMA request, which will undoubtedly turn into the usual game of hide and seek, but which will tend to focus their attention. To make that more effective it would be helpful if you published a timeline of your interactions with them, including the positions held by the people you have dealt with. I realise that I could go back through the last few videos and collect much of what I've asked for but it would speed things up (and improve accuracy) if I didn't have to rely on transcriptions.
Such fun isn't it 🙃 I'm very looking forward to the question answers.... I've probably forgotten but I still don't understand what prompted the council to start these recent stupid rule imposing things apon you? That's the sort of behaviour I'd expect from someone battling a nasty addiction .... Ultimately I'd hope the RC Rules for all of us and all councils in New Zealand could be bought up to date with imput from sensible people such as yourself.... Our new prime Minister is going to fix everything,,,, I'm sure he'd like to help fix the drone rules mess..... this afternoon I'm going to have a go and email those people whom work for us 😉😎
LOL! Best of luck! As my old neighbour used to say "Isn't it amazing how all these politicians know exactly how to fix all the county's problems ..... When they are in the Opposition!" 😉

Hi Bruce, it's Greg from Grafton, east coast of Australia. Have sent an email to the Council's Chief Executive, also the Mayor and all the councillors via the messaging portal on the council's website. I look forward to receiving their replies.
Like I said before Bruce Attorney General/Ombudsman discrimination and vilification is illegal they can be sued for what they are doing which quite frankly they should know is illegal. A case of them saying nothing and admitting nothing is easy. Or speak to a lawyer you have rights and You can write a letter to them or your lawyer can stating that what they are doing is illegal and not without consequences . There is also the likelihood of the present council being sacked for their illegal behaviour, hence the Attorney General if not, the people in your town have the right to publicly sack the present council . I am guessing by the way you are asking for help you haven't got in touch with some one who can actually do anything . Your government has people that handle this type of discrimination and vilification so why have you not tried that source Bruce. (??)
I think the councils have to respond within 20 working days, they do for consents, might be worth looking into? If they don't respond take them to court haha.
for those of us who don't know new zealand governmental structure help us understand what the council is, in the US the only councils we have are city and county council which have limited authority that is confined to a specific local area, i can't tell if you council is similar to that or something more like our congress and senate or something in between ......
We are talking about much the same as in US - county council which have limited authority that is confined to a specific local area. We also have CAA which is much the same as FAA, responsible for National standards / enforcement of aviation requirements. Thanks for asking.

Nice to see mention of the NZ Jet Modelers using the airfield for regular events. October issue #72. They seem to have a good relationship with the council and local community (provided a donation to the fire department). I wonder if any of those guys have similar issues to yourself? Seems that someone in the council likes RC flying else they wouldn’t feature it in the newsletter. Perhaps it’s time to find the advocates that might exist in the council and start building bridges from within?
The Jet flyers have no problems... because they're not me. They hold regular events during the summer... but the last time *I* wanted to hold a similar event I was told I'd have to provide "a six figure bond and the names and addresses of everyone that would be attending". There are two *very* different sets of standards demanded by the SWDC.
You have a wealth of knowledge Bruce and a lot to offer that the council and community can benefit from. If you can find that one person in the council to be your cheer leader and work with them to create some opportunities then this might start going a different way. For example, I could see you being their drone-safety consultant helping to set up local classes for flyers who were new to the hobby. When you give a little, you get a little. Something to think about…
Dear Sir/Madam I am deeply concerned at the Council's treatment of Mr Simpson. Given, the attack on Mr Simpson is based on disinformation (totally false claims of what CAA requires), it would appear to be some sort of personal vendetta. I imagine that discrimination against an elderly gent with Parkinson's disease violates many of NZ's anti-discrimination laws. I hope that those Councillors not involved in the vendetta, can get the Council back on track and resolve this issue forthwith.
Not from NZ, but thought I would just give a comment to increase the algorithm. Best of luck, Bruce. We have our own commie government here in the states.
Sorry to hear that you are copping the stonewalling attitude but to be expected. It does show that they simply cannot respond because they are out of line and they know it. I have done the contact form from the website and shotgunned the message to all the listed councilors, and also forwarded the confirmation email to their info@ email address. About all we can do, and sure hope lots of people do this and prompts some action so that sanity and reasonable discussion can prevail.

That will be the next step if this move doesn't produce any results.
Let me tell you how to run your country, and give you advice in politics"
...
If you listen carefully, you can hear a room full of Kiwis laughing in my general direction.
Oh well. Let's go storm the Capitol boys!
The rag should change its name to outoftouch magazine. Keep up the good work.
ok Bruce i sent an email to all councillors and on the general email form for councillors, hopefully this will help 👏👏👍👍👌👌
Bruce this is what i replied to the council hope i get an answer.
Hi
is it possible for you to show me the section in witch the CAA mentioned that you have to be a member of the MFNZ or NZJMA to fly an unmanned aerial vehicle. as i was planing a trip to Tokoroa to see and fly my drone with M.Simpson and his friends at the airfield, where they used to have a tower, since i am not a member of those 2 organization could i still fly with the guys? i do have my Canadian pilots license to fly a drone.
thank you
Done. Thanks X 👊
Good luck
Ill send a request to them tonight,
Hi Bruce, will be here for you and the hobby if need be. Will have a look at the council's site of Tokoroa.
👍💪✌
Thanks!
Dear council,
I follow mr.
Thank you!
Great Little letter,
I’ve had a reply now it’s just the same of what you have had said to you Bruce just a useless answer saying what the rules are and you need to comply to them but like you said only about a 100 have sent emails to them so nothing will change, come on subscribers even if you get same answers as mine at least you are showing it’s overreaching their powers and not resolving Bruce’s flying at the field, I feel sorry for this man he’s stuck his head above the parapet to save the hobby and he has over 200k subs and only one % have answered the call it’s bit crap ain’t it
I wonder if people have given up as I couldnt access the site directly, I had to go through a vpn to get anywhere, a list of the councils contact details would maybe help but probably against the rules to post them
My problem is how the hell can the Council Bann Bruce alone ? There is no Law in New Zealand ?????😮
My question is submitted via the council website. I would really like to get an answer as its quite upstletting to me as someone that really likes you channel.
5 email's sent! nice work :-)
lets hope this works
Sent them an honest email with my views on the matter. We are all here Bruce. The channel UAV futures sent me here and I feel happy I can make a small difference
That's it. I'm coming to New Zealand..... Yahooooooooooo.. I'll fix them idiots.. lol. Love you buddy 💙💙💙💙🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Mikey and Stu
Email has been sent to all councillors of Waikato asking for a resolution to your request
Can Paso Robles, California be declared a suburb of Tokoroa?
In the worst case plan a protest march outside City Hall.
@@theoztreecrasher2647 hell yeah!!! I heard one of NZ top economists say it's still the same size milkshake...... 😜😉😎
I've been to the field and had a quick chat and left a Flite Test mini kit for ya. I'll gladly work on a few emails for you.
Seen your request..Done👍
You can't win against City Hall, but enjoy your journey. Hope is eternal.
Done. Emailed each of them.
Did it! Done deal👍
Strikes me you;ve got some very petty and immature people on that council Bruce. The Tower being a good example of that pettiness.
Goveernments here have to respond in a timely fashion to enquiries. Are there no such rules in NZ?
There are and, just as in Australia, councils year information requests as an elaborate game of hide and seek..
Done!!
Watching this in bed, Bruce. Promise to email your council tomorrow.
Emails are sent. We will see if it breaks the internet.
Hi from lil England 🏴
Done!
Maybe time to contact an Ombudsman in New Zealand?
Email sent to all!
Bruce uk here I’ve got your back just sent my email I hope we can get you flying back at the field with your friends from around the world keep on fighting , Gaza 🇬🇧
Hi Bruce, it's Greg from Grafton, east coast of Australia.
Have sent an email to the Council's Chief Executive, also the Mayor and all the councillors via the messaging portal on the council's website. I look forward to receiving their replies.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Please don't stop squeaking Mr. Simpson.
Hi Bruce. Email sent. 👍
I will send a polite email 👍🏻
I think the councils have to respond within 20 working days, they do for consents, might be worth looking into? If they don't respond take them to court haha.
Request for an explanation sent from the UK
Got to the end of the councils email page and could not get past the robot, the puzzle would not upload. Will try again later.
the rabbithole is deep. dont follow the"minion Laws"
for those of us who don't know new zealand governmental structure help us understand what the council is, in the US the only councils we have are city and county council which have limited authority that is confined to a specific local area, i can't tell if you council is similar to that or something more like our congress and senate or something in between ......
We are talking about much the same as in US - county council which have limited authority that is confined to a specific local area. We also have CAA which is much the same as FAA, responsible for National standards / enforcement of aviation requirements. Thanks for asking.
so in other words it's the typical situation of little people being given big power and needing to show what big shots they are now@@kwilliamsnz
I have sent my email, Alberta,Canada
Sent.
Hello again Bruce. I heard back from the council today regarding the email I sent them. Here's what they said:

Please see the below message regarding your correspondence concerning Tokoroa Airfield:
At no time has the Council prevented Mr Simpson from flying drones. We have simply asked that Mr Simpson do so in accordance with established policy as outlined in our letter to him which stated -
The South Waikato District Council (SWDC) is responsible for all activities carried out at the Tokoroa Airfield and with the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAA) require specific requirements to be met if a drone/unmanned aircraft is flown at an uncontrolled aerodrome such as the Tokoroa Airfield.
In terms of the CAA, Part 101 rules no person is permitted to operate a drone/unmanned aircraft on or within 4kms of the airfield without the following authorities:
a. Aerodrome Operator
b. Membership of MFNZ or NZJMA
c. Hold a Wings badge or a pilot’s licence to fly a drone/unmanned aircraft.
These requirements are designed to ensure the safety of the public which is Council’s sole concern.
Your feedback has been provided to Council’s Executive Managers.
Warm regards,
Raewyn

Something to think about…
Sorted
Least i can do. Matter o fact ill do it instead of home work
Message sent to council mate fingers crossed something happens. Lets them know you have support in UK
Dear Sir/Madam
I am deeply concerned at the Council's treatment of Mr Simpson.
I fear that rather than eating humble pie and getting off your back Bruce, they will just close the airport to all model flying
Not from NZ, but thought I would just give a comment to increase the algorithm. Best of luck, Bruce. We have our own commie government here in the states.
I got the same answer from the council as many others did receive…
Sorry to hear that you are copping the stonewalling attitude but to be expected. It does show that they simply cannot respond because they are out of line and they know it. I have done the contact form from the website and shotgunned the message to all the listed councilors, and also forwarded the confirmation email to their info@ email address. About all we can do, and sure hope lots of people do this and prompts some action so that sanity and reasonable discussion can prevail.
Mail sent for my 2024 Tokoroa visit, now will they reply ?.
i have been driving trucks whithout licence...since i could walk...and reach the pedals
wheres the best place to get a recap on 'the situation' so I can write an informed mail, vs try to mock something up by memory?
The past few videos cover most of it. I didn't do a recap video because it would be revisiting stuff previously published.
@@xjet gotcha, will revisit before mailing.
