    A full-featured tablet with a 10.1" screen, this FEONAL tablet has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, with a quad-core processor. The storage can be upgraded with a microSD card.
    There's 2.4GHz wi-fi, Bluetooth, and a GPS receiver. it also included front and rear cameras. This tablet will certainly do the trick for your day-to-day operations, it runs everything I've thrown at it and more.

    I am trying to connect my external hd but the feonal isn't recognizing it. Any ideas?

    • @jaykay18
      @jaykay18  2 роки тому

      Chances are very good that if the hard drive is formatted in any filesystem EXCEPT FAT32, it will not be recognized. If you are sure it's formatted in the FAT32 filesystem, the volume has to be mounted.

      @@jaykay18 I appreciate the response. My windows sys laptop recognizes the ext hd without a problem. My ext hd is in NTFS and the other option is exFAT. Should I select that? And what do you mean by the volume has to be mounted? Thank you.

      @@richardavalon3653 OK, quick education. I hark back from the days when computers took floppy disks. When a disk was formatted, it was then called a volume. I can only relate this to old school items, so a disk would be like a vinyl record. A volume would be like a multi-book set, like the printed versions of encyclopedias.
      The disk drive was there, ready and able to read or write a disk. In order for the computer to do that, the volume inserted must be mounted. In the old days with physical disks, there was a lever you'd close and it would physically mount the disk. Now of course with hard drives and flash memory cards, this is all virtually done.
      When a disk, of any kind, including a hard disk, an external one, or a flash memory card like an SD or microSD card is formatted, there are various filesystems to be chosen from. YOU CANNOT CHANGE the filesystem once selected unless the disk is reformatted, and doing that erases everything on it, which usually is irreversible.
      With that said, certain devices support certain filesystems, and not others. It depends on the operating system you're running. Within that, there are also size limitations for the volume. In general, Android supports FAT32 formatted disks. FAT32 formatted disks have a limitation to the size of a file which is 4GB, so you cannot have any file larger than 4GB on a FAT32 formatted disk. (That's why if you record with the camera your phone or a tablet for a very long time, it will either stop when it hits 4GB or create a new file). Essentially, this means that Android, and your external hard drive, probably aren't going to jive well together. As it is, yours can't be used since it's NTFS formatted.
      On top of that, most devices have a limitation to the maximum size SD/microSD card they can use, I've seen up to 256GB. Chances are good your hard drive is larger than that, so that's another strike. Not to mention, I don't know what you'd do with terabytes of storage on a tablet. Like I said earlier, volumes these days are virtually mounted. In Android, you have to mount and unmount volumes (virtually) manually, by selecting that. This is the same for SD/microSD cards; they should always be mounted and unmounted, otherwise you risk corruption of the volume (if files were open and being written to at the time). Typically, Android will automatically mount a volume when it boots, and unmount when shut off, but you can issue the commands to do that at any time.
      A lot of this is technical talk; I'm a retired computer technician. I try to make it as understandable across the board as possible. The long and short of the story is you're not going to be able to use your external hard drive with it (or really any other tablet), the hardware wasn't built to support it. It CAN be made to work, but there's going to be a lot of data shuffling going on to make that work. And when that hard drive dies, you're going to have to go through all of that again to make the new one work. You're much better off using microSD cards like the system was designed for; those, when new, will be formatted with a compatible filesystem and will just work "out of the box", something we've gotten away from in today's society. With a lot of stuff requiring assembly, or on the computer side, lengthy (though sometimes automated) setup procedures.

      @@jaykay18 Thank you for your time and expertise. That was very informative.
      I tried connecting a 8 or 16 gb thumb drive and that wasn't recognized either. Do you what kind of device, or what format of thumb drive I can use that the tablet will recognize so I can access content while I am in a place without internet?

    • @jaykay18
      @jaykay18  2 роки тому

      @@richardavalon3653 The thumb drives should have worked, provided they are FAT32 formatted. Did you mount the volume? I can't tell you exactly how since it differs across the board. It's in the settings (gear icon). Should be an option to mount or dismount. Alternately, you can try powering off the tablet, plugging in the drive, then powering it on. Not that it also won't just "pop up" like it does on a computer, you have to browse the files on the device and select that drive.
