What’s craziest is that if it wasn’t for the leaks, we would have never realized this existed. Probably would have guessed something was wrong due to lack of Temple of Doom sets but still
This was the Indiana Jones set I was so excited for, so I was gutted that it just never released without a proper explanation. The set looked complete, the figures looked amazing, and I wish Disney didn’t chicken out and not release it.
Thank you so much for the kind words man, really appreciate it! Loved watching this. I do want to point out that I'm not having the same issues with the water tower that you had, my guess is that you used 2x 3700 bricks instead of 1x 3700 and 1x 32064. I also have to say your criticism about the instructions being wonky is very fair. I really can't defend that lol, I'm not great at making instructions
I think that only the smiling face is originally from fleur but the other side of the head has like that "singing expression" from Phoebe from the Central Perk set. But I´m not sure if it is exclusive to her...@@IWantChickeyNuggets

Well going by the rumor Disney has a Ban on tod merchandise meaning nothing can be made from the thuggees , mola ram. Before this was cancelled by Disney Hasbro’s mola ram got cancelled a year before. Look at the merch nothing has been made with mola ram since 2009. Yes Lego made the set before but Disney didn’t own the rights they bought rights in 2012. It also gets worse they don’t want anyone making the swords man or any Cairo thugs. The only difference here I heard this was ready to be shipped out on the trucks hence why the set number popped up in stores. Disney stopped a mass produced product. Trust me Lego isn’t going to be making any more Indiana jones sets just for Disney to cancel. Biggest disappointments mola ram had a new head piece. Indy came with a unique scared expression you also got the maharajah for the first time. The voodoo doll is the only thing that survived the set it sold for $600 on eBay there is one on brick link for $1,400. Now there are Hd pics out there but you will have to pay big bucks to see them.
You had me fooled with the thumbnail with the actual set! Props to the guy for managing to recreate it and give people the chance to make it themselves!
Would have LOVED to see the new Mola Ram fig. I thought the old one was near perfect but in the teaser picture Looks like the new one had new helmet mold and everything
We need to make some sort of petition to bully LEGO and Lucasfilm to release the set. I think it would sell even better now since people who may not have even been interested before would want it because of the cancellation.
@@ThatLegoGuy-10140 I did a small bit of research on Bricklink. It has not been produced in a blonde color yet, and it’s still being produced. Quinlan Vos uses a different hairpiece that was originally made for the Dwarves in the Hobbit.
Someone please help me understand the mentality of cancelling this and the osprey. They MUST have asked themselves “can we actually make this?” throughout the year long design/production process. But still they got as far as finishing the design, creating new mini figures and finalizing box art for it, and NOW they get cold feet? Same with the osprey, they got as far as actually RELEASING it before pulling it off shelves. So tell me- these questions must’ve been asked throughout the extensive design process, but the continued anyways. If it wasn’t an issue then, why would it be an issue now? Why get fans hopes up? If it was an issue and controversial, why even decide to make it in the first place? They must’ve known the osprey was a military aircraft, yet they continued designing and actually released it… and only after they released it… NOW it’s an issue? I don’t get it
From what I remember, the whole “it’s a war machine” thing was a cover up for the stress that some parts would come under for the gear functions Maybe something similar happened here
Looking at this, it still looks like it was a sketch model. Not the final. Imho. Disney pulled the plug I heard, not Lego and Lego was pissed off by it. Other toy company's, statue company's had their Temple items pulled. As a liberal I'm so ashamed by my tribe. Stupid, naive, soft and almost all of them think this is somehow 'saving' the world. The irony I tell my bro's, well WTF...Disney still have the movie. The movie anyone can download. You can see Temple of Doom by any age. Yet Disney doesn't PULL the movie.
I wish they could have uncanceled the set that way we would have had a cool representation of the Temple of Doom but the one thing that prevents it from being released is the fact that there is a Lego build resembling / representing a religious figure
To bad this set was never released. I have the other three sets, but a Temple of Doom set would have been nice to have too :) 200+ dollars to make this set is a lot, but it looks great!
This is probably the set i would have actually brought, the other sets just don't appeal to me as much as this Temple of Doom set and as far as this set was I'm surprised they cancelled this. For a MOC this is really accurate. The designer did a fantastic recreation just on the image lol, I've tried to build a set based on the box art and it went horribly lol. I also would have hoped we would have gotten a Thugee battle pack and a Native Havito battle pack as that set lacked the figures.
Potentially some cultural issues surrounding the depiction of Indian religion. Not my place to say anything on whether it’s offensive, but it’s definitely been a point of conflict around Temple of Doom.
Kali is a Hindu Goddess. A fierce protector of her people. She is not Lucifer, a fallen angel of God sent to act as the admin in Hell...didn't you ever go to Sunday school?
@gordonfreeman2634 That my friend is a conversation I feel I'd enjoy partaking with you, here I just meant it as a ref to what Indy said in Raiders. Was debating between that one and "If you believe in that sort of thing"
I can't say I know for sure, but the main reason for this set's cancellation is likely down to the long-time controversy surrounding the film with India, and - in this set's case - those of the Hindu faith, as Kali is a goddess that still sees worship to this day. Love the film or not, I don't think anyone can say that the film is particularly reflective of what India is really like, even at the time of the film's release back in 1984. It wasn't even filmed in India, due to a veto from the Indian govt. Lucas and Spielberg went to Sri Lanka instead. Is all this grounds for this set's cancellation? Probably not, but I imagine LEGO just didn't want a repeat of the fiasco with Jabba's Palace. Another possible reason is that it's just a very dark set. Human sacrifice and all that.
i would have wrather had lego cancel the snake temple instead because that one is mid and this temple of doom is astonishing, and it looks like Willie has the wanda maximoff hairpiece in blonde
Whoever is running Lego is stupid, these sets is what will help Lego profit, I have all the new Indiana jones sets but this one I was most excited for when I saw the leaks. Lego is losing money when they cancel sets like this and release sets like the Lego atst walker set 75332
Absolutely hate to add a plug, buuuuuut for those wanting a more affordable option, consider ordering parts off WeBrick. While not official Lego bricks, they work with the system and it's way cheaper. 94% of this sets parts on the site come out to a little over 50 bucks. Respectfully, way better than 200. (As far as minifigs go, I purchased a Mola Ram torso, black pants and used Wong's head from the Avengers advent calendar. Far from perfect, but it's close enough for now) Agree, hats off to Tyrinov. Very unfortunate we didn't get to have the "real" version, but I'm debating to add it to my Indy shelf...
Lego has gone soft… canned this set and now are retiring the Indiana Jones sets because it’s supposedly too controversial - old Lego would’ve never 😢 show Indy some respect man
Jeez bro. Spent too long complaining about if you’re complaining or not. Just review the custom made set and keep it moving. Besides that, another great video.
They probably cancelled it because people were remembering how insensitive the movie was concerning Indian culture and stereotypes, and were afraid of the potential backlash.
