Why would you buy the Avgas version of such a beautiful plane with better and more reliable Austro E4 Engines? Love all versions of the DA42 expect the AVGAS version
Oh the RDDL 906, I was stranded at KLEE at 2am because when you shut down to refuel, you are impossible to light that baby up again due to the cowling contracts heat and IO-360s refuse to start at hot temperatures (because the cowling and aerodynamics were not designed for a AVGAS engine). Other than that, great plane for training but for XC leisure flyings, I prefer DA-42 VI.
Tropic Heat Studios. Thank you very much. Don't feel bad. I was absent from flying for 4 years however, I knew no matter what, I had to get back to doing what I love the most. Go for it!
Im sorry but 99% of the info this guy said was 100% wrong. There are no counter rotating props in a da42, left is critical. VNE is 188, not 192. 66 lbs max in nose, not 10-15 (haven't heard a weight range in a poh before). Max t/o weight of 2600lbs????? Its actually over 3900lbs. I like that you pointed out his errors too, so good on you man! Good video, I just dont think id fly with that guy with the lack of knowledge on equipment. Lol
I believe your data of the DA-42 VI variant (AE 300 engine) is true. However, this is a L360 variant. A lot of the weights are the same with NG (Thilert engine) since they share MAM-42-088. -VI can actually go up to 4450 lbs of MTOW I think, much better than the 3935 lbs of the older generations.
Imagine paying $1M for a plane that is only 10% faster than a 40 year old Cessna 182 and can't carry more weight, fly higher or go further, with the maintenance cost of 2 engines. You can buy a 1980 182T, have new paint, new interior, a Garmin dream panel with a G3X, GFC 500 autopilot and GTN750 and a factory fresh engine and overhauled turbo system for 1/4 of a DA42.
Ugly? It's one of the most beautiful planes I've ever seen.
I hear ya buddy👍

Wow! Never knew that. Thanks for letting me know. 👍🏾
@@nextgenaviation24 Yeah, not even the “Slick Start” can save that day.
GREAT video experience! I miss the cockpit - this just ignited my determination to get back to FLYING .

Is there a wind limitation for Open Doors? Can they be damaged when open and on the ramp in a 35 knot wind?
I hate it when a so-called CFI doesn't even know how much weight he can put in the nose and then trie to bullshit his way through.
Is that a B-25 bomber at 6:50?
It sure looks like it! Big radial engines are a giveaway.
amazing

The L360 does have counter rotating props. Also the speeds vary between variations, for example the TDI I instruct in Vne is 194

Empty weight 2600lbs
You can see counter rotation durning start up
It looks like it is very difficult to see in front of you with the aviation control panel being so high.
Glow plugs. Wait for them. Oy
its avgas
