Thats my bad :( There have also been some people to guess what the data mined icon is for- so I should at least say that the data its included in would NOT be something used in game, but rather something that steam would use. FFXIV obsessed nerd here, hope you don't mind me droping my crazy ideas here. Is it just me or Solas has a similar vibe to the Ascians? An ancient being that wants to return to the old days, even if it means the genocide of current day people. The dialogue the inquisitor has with him in trespaser reminds me of an Emet selchs dialogue: "I don't consider you to be truly alive, ergo I will not be guilty of murder if I kill you". The way Solas sees modern Thedas people it's kind of similar to how Emet sees sundered people in XIV imo.
@@MeTaViToRFeNiX totally agree- i do think emet is a different spin on the solas idea- cant imagine solas doing half the stuff he does haha. But yeah- enough to make me wonder if the ffxiv played DA 🤔 i know the opposite is true.
@@GhilDirthalen Yeah, I don't think Solas is going to start an empire any time soon. Trespaser came out in 2015, and by then the Ascians were no more than Organization 13 lookalikes. Also, yoshida forced the team to play wow back in the day, so I can imagine him going to the writting team like "yo, I´ve played these awesome games with facinating lore that I think we can learn a lot from... you have 3 weeks to finish them all".
When I first saw the unknown ruin in Rivain; I immediately thought of the annulled Circle at Dairsmuid, which may explain the statue. Given Dairsmuid's location, it wouldn't be too much of an assumption (I believe) to say the Circle may have been secluded further along the coastline, as the Codex entry does mention "Seekers [were sent] across the bay from Ayesleigh". What sort of relevance such a location may have to the game itself to warrant its inclusion however....
Yeah I don't know why it's so surprising to see Andrastian things (especially damaged/abandoned) in Rivain, with 3 exalted marches there, many mission/conversion attempts, and a whole circle 😅
It feels so weird that it's actually coming out. I was listening to an old episode of split the veil the other day and you two were saying it probably won't come out until 2021 and how long a 7 year gap would be.
That draconic growl underlying the mystery voice definitely makes me think it's an old god returning when the Veil is torn down. Elgernon I think should be dead from the Blights, but it could be another one. We'll see...

My thoughts after watching this video and thinking about that trailer for 2 months: 1) Glad to have you back, Caitie! I'm assuming this means your long, long ISP woes might finally be over? :D 2) I feel like the squid on the map of Rivain is more than just set dressing, what with most of our knowledge of Rivain having something to do with the sea in one way or another. Some Lovecraft influence, perhaps? Maybe Ghilinnain's new form in Thedas is some twisted sea monster? As for "Risen Gods", I feel like that's gotta be something to do with the Old Gods since Elves don't generally sound like that and no one else would be that hyped about the return of the Evanuris, surely? 3) the Peace and Comfort guy. A couple thoughts I had. 1. sounds like Liam O'Brian to me, who I know as the voice of Caius Ballad from FF13-2. Only older, obviously. 2. a lot of people talk about it sounding like a Qunari from the wya he talks, but he gives me a lot of the same vibes Rezaren did in Absolution, specifically in the scene where he's trying to convince Miram in her dream. Now I'm not saying it's Rez, but that combined with the camera centering Tevinter during that section leads me to... 3. I think it's Lusacan, or a follower of. One of the last remaining 2 old gods, combined with the fact there's SOMETHING going fucky at Weisshaupt, and the "peace and comfort" in that sinister way gives me the vibes of "eternal peace/sleep/death" which would tie nicely in with Lusacan being the Dragon of Night. Also I'm a sucker for Old God/Tevene lore and I don't want them relegated to playing second fiddle to the Evanuris :P Oh and 4) about the Wardens, since soemthing's clearly not ok over there. I really like the fan theory that the First Warden is a literal title and they are literally the First Grey Warden who got made immortal by the original Joining, possibly one of the Magisters Sidereal (Hence why they're so secretive). And something's gone really fucky and ruined their little setup... leading to my little pet theory is that they have an Old God under/near Weisshaupt that they've either been keeping imprisoned to harvest blood from or are in an uneasy alliance with, which in my eyes would have to be Razikale. Who else would give the Grey Wardens such esoteric blood magic knowledge than the Dragon of Mystery? Obviously the issue would be "how did none of the other wardens notice" but idk maybe Razikale being the most magically-leaning Old God (in my headcanon) would have figured out a way to mask/silence her own Call? Im just rambling now lol :D In conclusion, great breakdown (lol at the reused statue, that's gamedev baby!) and thank you for setting my little theorycrafter brain whirring away with ideas again :P
So glad to see you back! We've missed you! My personal opinion is either the Architect or another of the Magister Sidereal for the final voice. That or maybe one of the Forbidden Ones? Did we ever kill The Formless One? Either way! I am so excited for you to get back in the swing of things eventually. Thank you for this gem! I will say, that I gotta re-watch your Grey Warden stuff, because my image of Weishapt is totally different 😂 gotta see where I got my image wrong haha
I find it curious that the Risen Gods quote shows Rivain, some of the background info to the Rivain Art says something along the lines of "dragons are getting bolder, attacking ships". So my immediate thought was... Old Gods?
I still think Moonhead and Beatle are Razikale and Lusacan, and we’re getting the double blight. I think one of the main factions we’ll be fighting with are Old God cultists. There’s a snarling sound behind the audio of the evil guy in the teaser that sounds very much like a dragon.
Super happy having you back again! Another detail about the last speaker is that there is this deep growling in the background: of a beast or, I don't know, a dragon maybe? It may have connection to who the speaker is. My wild theory - it is a dragon speaking, or someone who can take form of a dragon (evanuris? Old god?)
I think the pillars with circles at the Warden fortress are hoops used for flight training with gryphons, which haven't been used in ages but since they might be coming back, who knows!
Always good to see a fellow Warrior of Light! I'm really hoping that Dorian will be a major character... (also, I have the Dragon Age cookbook, and I'm so looking forward to trying some of the recipes!)
The kraken over Rivain makes me think of that one codex entry about mad scientist Ghilan'nain... “Ghilan'nain agreed and asked for three days to undo what she had made. On the first day she struck down the monsters of the air, except those she presented to Andruil as a gift. On the second day she drowned the giants of the sea, except those in deep waters, for they were too well-wrought, and Pride stopped her hand.” From codex, “The Ascension of Ghilan'nain”

It's Boulton's "wearied fantasy dilf voice" vs the "saucy Hawke" voice, is my impression lmao (he did also voice Xenon, so...)😭. Great analysis, I wouldn't be surprised if they're the voices of some/all of the major faction leaders including a god or two.
@@GhilDirthalenenjoy EW! I commented before the video ended (grave sin I now) still watching your video and I realized I missed this trailer. Will be viewing after your video and patiently waiting for the next installment.
I was enthralled the entire video. I was so excited to hear your voice again. I have to say, however, that the clip at the end caught my attention most. All the little items, books, and cards laid out just fascinated me. 😁
I totally get the thing with voice actors! 😂 I have the same obsession but with German VAs. I tell you, if that German DA4 trailer drops, I'll be looking up VAs all day. lol I was honestly SO baffled to see so many people thinking that the last voice is Dorian/Patrick Stewart or even flippin Solas?? 😂 I think you're spot on with Joseph Capp though! Can't wait to hear who they'll cast in the German version!! 😁
The fourth voice kinda sounds like a deeper version of Sire Denathrius or a higher Illidan Stormrage played by Ray Chase and Liam Christopher O'Brien respectively. There is definitely some audio filters happening as well. I don't have the best ear for voice actors but these are the voices that came to mind first.
4:45 - my guess at those pillars, judging by how it's probably a Grey Warden fortress, is that they're some sort of training course for griffons. 8:41 - she sounds elderly, so she might be Caterina Dellamorte, the First Talon (leader) of the Crows, who appears in Tevinter Nights. 9:41 - while the obvious answer would be an ancient elf talking about Evanuris, the "risen gods" could be simply high dragons. There's precedent to them being worshipped as gods, and this line is uttered while hovering over the map of Rivain - the one place where, in another concept art, we see a high dragon. 14:01 - "peace and comfort" does sound more like something a Qunari would say. Elgar'nan was, at least according to legend, all about "wrath and thunder" lol
For the last voice, I strongly believe that the last voice is actually Liam O’Brian, the voice is just too close to his portrayal of Illidan Stormrage from WoW.
Most of the time I can tell in an instant if it's Liam O'Brian as soon as I hear his voice.. only his voice can give me this shivers down my spine.. And I got them here.. But there is something off I don't know.. maybe it is him maybe someone who sounds like him
the more i listen the more my hours dumped into the legion expac in wow come back to me, but im not sure if i am just developing a bias at this point 😂 it would be a blast to hear liam obrien in thedas again but for the time being i remain… unconvinced.
Love this - you are absolutely doing the Maker's work here! On that final voice, it does seem SO familiar. It sounds similar to Marc Thompson. If anyone's played Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, he voices Paralictor Regill. There are a lot of similarities there, but either way, it feels like it's been distorted a little.
Glad to see you back! The Risen Gods - with the squid-like thing for Rivain, our pal Ghilan'nain the evanuris having been stopped by "Pride" from killing her creations in the Ocean, I'm 100% betting that some chucklefuck/Lord of Fortune made a pact with Solas to unleash Ghil's creations from the sea to fight off the dragons in Rivain? With how much Ghilan'nain has been set up, it just makes sense.
I have another idea: Rivain and the Ocean are importent here i agree. What the voice said doesn't sound like solas. So the Ghilan'nain link could be true, but with this i immediately thought of the Executors. Because they rise as a organization and something powerful is behind them. And so far it look like they see themself as the saviors.
I think it could be Joseph Capp. I did definitely hear something similar to Nere from BG3 in that delivery when I listen to it. And I love that the voice has some dragon growls in the background as he speaks, making me think it's probably related to the Old Gods or the Evanuris.
It is such a pleasure to have a new video from you again ! 🎉 Thanks for your analysis and interpretations of the last trailer. I really (really) hope we will see more of the grand necropolis
Welcome to XIV! Your optimism about the release date was surprisingly infectious-I'd settled on the game coming out next year, but now part of me thinks you might be right. I hope you are! I've waited long enough to yell at Solas for breaking up with me (even if I won't be doing it as my heartbroken Lavellan, lol)
That Nicholas Bolton voice was definitely his Raubahn voice! Nicholas Capp I think is a good guess. That voice sounded just like Golbez. My raid group did the EX trial and I have it *cemented* in my brain.
Northern English accents are more lately attributed to the Avvar, not sure what they would be doing in Rivain but they are both cultures with interesting takes on spirits. Avvar refer to them as gods more often than they do spirits, are we gonna battle another Hakon?
I think the last voice is Sam Witwer. He's also in a few UA-cam videos playing the DA board game from years ago. Believe it's wizards of te coast. He and Bioware follow each other and I don't think he's voiced one of their games, yet 😁
I feel the voice acting thing. I’m super late to the BioWare stuff in general, because I was only able to get my own gaming laptop about three years ago (I live with my parents still to save money and my brother tends to yoink my controller from my hands when I’m doing something wrong). Anyway, it’s funny seeing voice actors in another game. Samantha Traynor was a cameo of my Inquisitor, even though Mass Effect came out first. Or that Bailey guy, the C-Sec officer is General Tullius in Skyrim. It’s so funny.
"glory to the risen gods" sounds like it could be some kind of Nordic or Scottish accent. It almost reminds me of something from Skyrim accent wise. I'm leaning toward Navarre though just because "risen" makes me think of the necropolis and the one short story from Tevinter Nights about the risen guard. I'm probably way off though. I feel like i know that voice but i can't place it
The raspy voice could be a talking darkspawn and might have some relevance to the old art of the tentacled old god we saw previously. The kraken could be the symbolism of the blight taking over Rivian and why we see no cities. Or it’s the Qunari or Elves again.
Not sure how I missed this last month, but it was so lovely to see one of your videos again! Also that last image, purple button?? (My brain went to a star trek intecom lol 😆)
Anyone who has sunk countless hours into World of Warcraft knows that that last voice is 100% without any doubt Illidan Stormrage (Liam O'Brien). There is no more distinctive purr in the land than that.
A little late here, so don't know if someone already pointed it out. But the last voice "my reign" dude. Is without a doubt Darin De Paul, he's using the same voice he did for Bioware in SWTOR as Emperor Valkorian.
Oo hey a fellow Viera, you have excellent taste! Also it took me an ABSURDLY long time to realize Shtola was Sera. Like I am genuinely embarrassed about it 😅
That divinity voice could be it, though to me it sounds alot like Liam O'Brien (Niall of the Lost in Dreams quest in dao) doing something very close to his Illadan voice in the "you are not prepared" WoW trailer.
Consider one more person agreeing with you on Joseph Capp. While I don't remember the Shadow Prince from DoS2 (it's been a very long time since I played it), the tone of the character in the DA teaser sounds very similar to the characters he voices in Endwalker, one in particular, the others are a bit more gravely and lower tone. Great job on clocking that possibility!
My guess for the second voice is Alec Newman. If you are familiar with his VO's in DOS:2, his voice has a lot of range, but there are elements that always seem to come through that can make him recognizable. And Bioware does love their repeat VA's. ;)
Bethesda got lucky to get Patrick Stewart, and also the Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean money took up basically all of the rest of their VO budget and that's why Oblivion NPCs are Oblivion NPCs
Oh, speaking of sounds. Have you by any chance analyzed these mysterious sounds popping across the trailer? There are some sounds of the eluvians I discovered. Then at the beginning there is this weird screech that I guessed might be something like darkspawn. Mostly coz fan art shared by bioware had a description indicating that something dangerous is coming to Antiva : "Something, however, is amiss, and they are set on uncovering the source."
Lurker here... so I don't usually comment BUT - When you were on about Male Hawke voice - I immediately went to Raubahn from FFXIV. Nick has been his VA since Heavensward. (I never really played MHawke, as I played FHawke) But yeah... Welcome to the FFXIV family! ^_^ I'm excited, cautiously so. Glad to see your videos. :D
Statue kind of looks like a lighthouse. The pillars with circles on top could be for astronomical/star/planet alignments, like the star stones in Pern perhaps? Love the "shittier and cheaper materials = Weishaupt" :D Re: "my reign", the background sound was really draconic to me, with that combination growl/roar/scrapping sounds, could be an Old God? Love your ending/outro music :)
The image of Rivain actually really reminds me of the ruins in Hitman 2016's Sapienza level. Crumbled fortress, long disused, nice entry point for 47 (or the party in this case). Makes me think stealth section just based on vibes but I could be wrong
I just cannot shake the fact that the fourth line gives me animated Maul vibes, especially when he says "peace and comfort", that's just exactly the way Maul speaks, the same rhythm, the same v i b r a t i o n s >< But the clip with the shadow prince is also quite close :o I'm going completely mental trying to find this damn voice!
I'm very glad to hear from you again. Regarding the last voice, I am more than sure that it is Ray Chase. I play World of Warcraft and after several months of clearing Castle Nathria, I am 99% sure that this is him.
I think the final voice is the Black Divine. That's not to say that he couldn't be an ancient being of some kind masquerading as a vint to seize power, but I think with the trouble brewing in southern Thedas and how Dorian talks about the state of Tevinter I think that someone has probably stepped into the role who is telling the Tevinter populace what they want to hear and is promising to bring order and the true Chant to the chaotic south.
9:02 I think the voice sounds like that grey warden that’s been featured in many different trailers. They have the same accent, and like type of speech imo
Regarding the second voice, i think it might be James Cosmo. He hasn't done any games that i know of, but he does a lot of epic historical and fantastical movies (Troy, GoF, Braveheart and more) and he has done voice overs for animated movies. Listen to his scenes in Troy. He has the same gravel, and the accent in this trailer is very him. Btw, Love that you dropped a video!! 😁 always a treat to see you pop up on my subscriber feed!!
I'm so so SO freaking stoked for this game, ive been a sub of yours for not very long (i dont think,) but i love your videos so much and have made the wait just that much more barable. Also come on ending, im so excited to see what THAT is a hint for 👀 (waves in fellow ffxiv enjoyer!!)
i think the reason why Dorian's VA comes to mind with the last one is the accent? So I immediately went to Tevinter guy or Old Elvhen guy because I think their accents could be similar to what we heard from Dorian
As people have pointed out- I made an error! Treviso is NOT the capital of Antiva, it's Antiva City! Thats my bad :(

Exactly what I was thinking !! Except maybe for the last voice… I’m not 100% sold on it being the voice of a qunari but maybe !
For the last voice, I strongly believe that the last voice is actually Liam O’Brian, the voice is just too close to his portrayal of Illidan Stormrage from WoW.
Like when Illidan says “YOU ARE NOT PREPARED really sounds like an angrier version of that voice, idk I just strongly believe it’s Liam O’Brian
You mean Vax. Or Vex, possibly.
Yeah, people on Reddit convinced me it was probably that guy.
Yay, Caitie!! Those circle things at Weisshaupt are doing my head in, too - what does it mean?!
I can't remember who proposed they were leftover peaches for griffins.
But they knda look like rope/chain supports to me
We watched another lore-stream with Goose literally yesterday, and now you have a new vid? Heck yes, time for a re-binge of your vids :P
LET'S GO
NEW VIDEO LETS GOOOOOOOOO
Love this - you are absolutely doing the Maker's work here!
On that final voice, it does seem SO familiar. It sounds similar to Marc Thompson. If anyone's played Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, he voices Paralictor Regill. There are a lot of similarities there, but either way, it feels like it's been distorted a little.
Some clips of him voicing Regill here: ua-cam.com/video/ORziyMAtL0Q/v-deo.html
@@yellowsapphire1988yeah, they both sound like they talk without opening their mouth
Nice to see an upload, i think it’s fair to say we have all missed you but we know life is… life.
Hopefully we get this game sometime soon *copium*
I think it could be Joseph Capp. I did definitely hear something similar to Nere from BG3 in that delivery when I listen to it. And I love that the voice has some dragon growls in the background as he speaks, making me think it's probably related to the Old Gods or the Evanuris.
I think it's Joseph Capp too. I've listened to all the VA's ppl have thrown out there and he sounds the closest, especially his voice acting in DoS2.
I second that it's either Capp or maybe Matt Yang King (sounds so similar to both).
So good to hear from you! ♥
BABE WAKE UP, NEW GHIL DIRTHALEN VIDEO DROPPED 🔥❤
It is such a pleasure to have a new video from you again ! 🎉
Thanks for your analysis and interpretations of the last trailer. I really (really) hope we will see more of the grand necropolis
So good to see that you're back!
I think the last voice was the Dread Wolf, but we shall see.
Looking back on this: That last voice is definitely Elgar’nan, right?
That Nicholas Bolton voice was definitely his Raubahn voice!
Nicholas Capp I think is a good guess. That voice sounded just like Golbez. My raid group did the EX trial and I have it *cemented* in my brain.
I just cleared that trial after 6 weeks of prog and I agree 😅
The 4th voice is Dorian Stewart.
Northern English accents are more lately attributed to the Avvar, not sure what they would be doing in Rivain but they are both cultures with interesting takes on spirits. Avvar refer to them as gods more often than they do spirits, are we gonna battle another Hakon?
Thank you! You do the Maker's own work here.
New video from Ghil! Today is a good day.🌻
Thank you for covering this, as always. It's good to see you again. I hope things are going well for you and that you enjoy your time on ffxiv
Ngl I get Jeremy Irons vibes from the last voice actor, although I don't know if they have Jeremy Irons money, lol.
I think the “peace and comfort” voice actor is Tom Kane. I recognized the voice from Knights of the Old Republic where he played Uthar
Not sure how I missed this last month, but it was so lovely to see one of your videos again! Also that last image, purple button?? (My brain went to a star trek intecom lol 😆)
Honestly I can’t hold back my excitement!!😵💫😵💫😵💫
Like I am genuinely embarrassed about it 😅
Somehow, the idol returned.
Loved the prediction , omnibus music and the ending
THE TIME (it's almost) UPON US!!!!
That divinity voice could be it, though to me it sounds alot like Liam O'Brien (Niall of the Lost in Dreams quest in dao) doing something very close to his Illadan voice in the "you are not prepared" WoW trailer.
oh glad I am not the only one that clocks all the DA voice actors in ff14. I was actually shocked to be told that Thancred is Cailan
OK THAT ONE I MISSED- god now that you mention that, I totally hear it.
I just played DOS2 twice and didn't think they were a match. I liked the guy from WoW that people were talking about.
My guess for the second voice is Alec Newman. If you are familiar with his VO's in DOS:2, his voice has a lot of range, but there are elements that always seem to come through that can make him recognizable. And Bioware does love their repeat VA's. ;)
She has returned!
Bethesda got lucky to get Patrick Stewart, and also the Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean money took up basically all of the rest of their VO budget and that's why Oblivion NPCs are Oblivion NPCs
The knife icon looks like the style often used for steam achievements!
Anyone else notice the jagged formations around the unknown Rivan ruins look like teeth? Like the camera is panning out from a creature's jaw?
Mother has returned!
HYPEEE love that ending line ! solid !
That’s 4th voice actor sounds very similar to Sam Witwer’s Darth Maul voice.
She's BACK! HELL YEAH!
on that voice acting note, I recently got into Tekken and realized Steve Fox shares his voice actor with Fenris. Fun stuff.
I'm excited, cautiously so. Glad to see your videos. :D
I’ve been playing 14 for years. It’s a great game. I’m glad you’re enjoying it.
Statue kind of looks like a lighthouse. The pillars with circles on top could be for astronomical/star/planet alignments, like the star stones in Pern perhaps? Love the "shittier and cheaper materials = Weishaupt" :D
Re: "my reign", the background sound was really draconic to me, with that combination growl/roar/scrapping sounds, could be an Old God?
Ghil is back! This just made my whole month!
I'm very glad to hear from you again.
Regarding the last voice, I am more than sure that it is Ray Chase. I play World of Warcraft and after several months of clearing Castle Nathria, I am 99% sure that this is him.
The purple button??? Hello????
(This was excellent and I missed seeing you pop up on my page! Hope you’re well!)
The second voice sounds to me like Durance, from Pillars of Eternity, who was voiced by Dave B Mitchell.
Fourth voice isn't Illidan from Warcraft? I thought the video skipped to a world of warcraft youtube for a second.
Btw,
Love that you dropped a video!! 😁 always a treat to see you pop up on my subscriber feed!!
YAY! A trailer and new Ghil video :)
Ahhhh, so glad you're getting into the wonderful world of ffxiv! Please take your time with the story and enjoy!
The second voice you mentioned kind of sounds like a voice-modulated version of the voice actor that does the lines about the Ham in the multiplayer.
The last voice sounds a lot like Darin DePaul, Emperor Valkorien in SWTOR. Same sort of underlying purr in the voice.
