The Battle of Appomattox Court House was one of the final battles of the Civil War fought between Confederate General, Robert E. Lee and Union General Ulysses S. Grant. After a brief battle on April 9, 1865, General Lee surrendered his Army of Northern Virginia to Grant, basically marking the end of the war in a Union victory. The battle would result in 359 dead and the surrender of ~26,000 men, and the end of the Civil War.
