Hurricane Katrina was a hurricane that hit the Gulf Coast of the US that made landfall on August 29, 2005. One of the hardest places hit was New Orleans, Louisiana which experienced massive flooding from the hurricane, a burst levee, lakes, and rivers. In total 1,833 people were killed by the hurricane which cost the US $125 billion in damages, the costliest in US history, and the repairs are still being done after 17 years.
