My lights don't change colour or position unless I hit the park button after selecting a colour or position. They don't update live. EDIT: I changed a setting called 'Programmer Speed Master' to SP1 and it started working. Fixed! Thanks for the tutorial. I got there in the end.
Why does everything else in Unreal Engine looks realistic, graphically. While the implementation of DMX doesn't hold up to that performance? Thank you for sharing your knowldege
I have a single issue related to the rendering process. If I render without enabling path tracing, there is no issue with the lights. However, when I enable the path tracer for a photorealistic image, the DMX light effects don’t show up. The gobos' symbols still project onto the floor, but the light trace doesn’t appear. Should we not render scenes with DMX lights using path tracing, or is there another setting I might have missed? Have you ever tried rendering using path tracing to get this kind of work? Thank you very much for your answer and this helpful tutorial.
Hi I haven't rendered all these while using path tracer though. You might get some idea on video below.. It's path tracing workflow ua-cam.com/video/ZRLuaGuvrdw/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Yeah that was one issue which occurred to me while recording this video usually it doesn't happen . This might not necessarily be the work around.. Try to delete and re patch to see if it works
Thank you for this informative video. Do you know why DMX doesn't work properly when Volumetric Fog is on? If there are a lot of fixtures, some of them will be flooded with very bright light.
I haven't tested much Volumetric fog though...try adding postprocess volume to the scene and dropping the min and max brightness. also play with volumetric fog settings and see if it helps
@Rajashekar Techy the files your showing I dont have in my Unity engine I am using 5.3.1. I have the content folder but all thats in it is Movies, Virtual_Studio_kit, VirtualSet no Plugin Folder.
Hi you mean to say DMX fixtures folder aren't there? Its usually under Plugins. Try going to edit-->plugins and enable all DMX plugins. Restart the engine and try again.
Ok if you still don't see it. In the interface bottom right look for (eye symbol) view options-->put a tick on show engine content and also put a tick mark on "show plugin content" as well. You should be able to see all the DMX fixtures folders now
@Rajashekar Techy I seem to be struggling to get DMX to work in Unreal Engine 5.3.2 Not sure if they have changed anything I did everything correct with the DMX Communications got camsys open, Patched the lights I turn them on in Camsys but, Unreal Engine does not appear to Receive DMX Input from controller.
Hi check this video and see if something got missed ua-cam.com/users/shortsFZxHCXUXYGI?feature=share Also make sure to set extern universe to 0 for both input and output port in project settings dmx
Why not create custom fixtures for UE plug-ins and run them in the console? Is the reason for using the clay paky one because it is easier to edit the UE side?
Hi Yeah we can do that too..Exactly Clay Paky was just an example we can test it with any manufacturer though its that all have their own modes order which needs to matched.
Hi Sir, i have problem with changing the color of Sharpy in Chamsys, the position work fine only the color i can't make change can you tell me what happen?
Hi sometimes it could be a temporary issue check the function order on unreal engine and then chamsys.. Restart both the program and try again it should work
Ich möchte gerne den Laser aus der UE5 mit der dot2 on PC steuern , aber leider habe ich das passenden gerähte nicht gefunden . für einen hilfe welschen ich nehmen kann und welschen ich steuern kann wehre ich dankbar I would like to control the laser from the UE5 with the dot2 on PC, but unfortunately I haven't found the right device. I am grateful for any help that I can take and that I can control
Hi try assigning dimmer channel to laser's three functions separately in that way you will be able to control them individually. as there is no fixed preset for generic laser fixture in lighting programs so they need to go as dimmer channel. The video below demonstrates how I tested Laser using Chamsys on UE. Hope this might given you the idea for dot2 ua-cam.com/video/814U6fOT7HA/v-deo.html
UE has a function for Prism in moving head though and few beam presets in Chamsys simulates prism lookalike effects but currently I see Im not able to change prism rotation or prism effects though it doesnt respond to it...there should be a workaround..lets see

Glad to know my videos were of help.
Very nice!! This is very comprehensive! Thank you!

Incredible informative video... Thank you so much for posting this! DMX in UE is amazing.
Will definitely be using this. As it so happens I'm already using the Virtual Studio for my music streams project 👍
Good luck with your projects

Thank you very much for your efforts. At 26:30 I added the tag according to your method, but it did not fix the problem.
It worked in my case though may be that's not the exact fix here.. Will share you the solution if I come across

Hi yeah as the version of UE progresses we might have more realism on DMX lighting as well..we will have to wait for it a bit :).

@Rajashekar Techy how do I add Color Rand To moving heads??? Magic Q says no Avalable Attribute for selected heads
To add random colors goto add fx-->any attrib-->pick any effects--->Choose Col Macros and play with fx settings to get desired look
