You can tell that Saskia has studied her character very well, the way she gives such good answers about Standish, that speaks of the work she has done behind it, very professional; and as a result she has offered us a character so attached to the Catherine of the books, I love it!
@@BatmanHQYTthat’s cos it’s British I reckon, can you you imagine the US tv Hollywood version of Slow Horses..? Although I reckon John Lithgow could do a US Jackson Lamb maybe
Gary is a genius actor. He can metamorphose into anyone. I didn’t know Saskia that much before Slow Horses, or at least don’t remember, but her character is fantastic acting and key to the series. Need to go back and revisit other roles of her.
Just finished season 3. The industry, seriously, should look at this TV show and use it as a learning aid. It is a masterclass in how it should be done. OUTSTANDING!
The American industry should. British series are much better made, slower build up and built to last. American stuff is mainly for short attention span divs.
This series is going to be one of those that starts off well but not too insanely and slowly builds up to be a monster hit. It humanises the intelligence game, bringing in beautifully flawed characters with tight scripts and a deliciously dark sense of humour.
Mick Herron is my favourite author, and I love closely the TV series follow the books. The casting could not be better, with Garry's Jackson Lamb stealing every scene he is in. My wife and I are currently watching the TV series again, and are so pleased to hear about another two series of the TV show. Please keep them coming.
Like the books, the series is BRILLIANT - best thing on TV and the standard of acting is superb. It’s funny, dark and exciting in equal measures. Can’t wait for series 3!
I read the Slough House series then heard they were filming it and my heart sank, albeit briefly, until I heard Gary Oldman was cast as Jackson Lamb and Saskia Reeves as Catherine Standish. Absolutely bloody brilliant! 🎯🎯🎯👏👏👏
I didn’t recognise Saskia Reeves, I had to look up who she is. It wasn’t just the hair, she normally has this feistiness and this glint in her eye that is totally missing from her character in this show. That’s good acting.
It got better as it went along. They laid it on a bit thick to begin with, during the opening scenes I kept expecting Jackson Lamb to start singing “Anarchy in the UK”.
Saskia’s role is probably undervalued. She has very few really good, or cutting lines, like the other characters, but she still brings a lot of presence to the role. She manages to bring gravitas to a far more blandly written character.
Just caught up on the series this week after hearing about it, i think its appeal is how it remains British in tone and humour; it shows grubbier aspects of the country and not the tourist locations of central London that you normally get. That four seasons in we are only now getting a CIA character (spoiler) is also good as usually subsequent series or sequels cross the pond for an audience boost where its clear it stays locally or nearby, looking forward for season 5
Surprised not one interview mentioned Tinker Tailer and Gary 's role of Smiley (which is literally referenced by name in the first season of Slow Horses). Jackson Lamb is the diametric opposite of Smiley in every way but his ability to sleuth and detect the most minute of change. And of course because this is Oldman, it's fucking brilliant of course.
@@sen5i Yeah I'm sure that was the reason because some old limey weetard liked Obi Wan better than the greatest living British actor in a series from 50 years ago is why it wasn't mentioned.
As Jackson Lamb who else could fit this role better than Gary,...??....no one!!!!!! the mans a legend , if you ever read this Gary, Please don't stop at the end of season 4, the chemistry of you all as a team is just brilliant, and 4 seasons is just not enough.....Ive heard you say "retirement", but please MORE,MORE,MORE....best regards to all cast members.....
So glad Gary said that about the pouring of the tea. It's something that has annoyed me for years and I thought it was just me! The other thing that annoys me in films is when ever fire has to be a roaring fire....real fired don't do that....smouldering embers would be just as acceptable. It's those little things that can take you out of the bubble.
I just saw coming attractions for season four and I think they have a superb actress from Humans British remake of Scandinavian TV show where she is a robot and fell in love with her robot hating cop partner
Right there with Gary about food on screen, it’s so obvious when actors pretend to drink coffee or tea and it’s so obvious there is not a drop of tea or coffee in sight.
Yes Gary! he obviously completely empty takeaway coffees in every series or film - the risk from a weighty hot liquid makes you hold and handle the cup in a particular way and faking it is instantly recognisable.
uh this is so great, I wish GOT S8 had such witty dialogue... we just got the crassness without the wit. bri'ish entertainment is hard to beat in the english speaking sphere. poles and french are quite funny and witty as well in their bubbles, germans are more funny than expected... sweedes are creepy af and anything coming out of the balcans will make you laugh choke at geneocide jokes...which is acquired taste, I'll grant you that.
My favorite show of 2022, top class acting, lots of suspense and a very exquisite British sense of humor :)
Yes
well said! just binged season 1-3 in a week and now i'm ready for the 4th. so so good!!
@ it’s brilliant :)
I love how plain she plays her role… it is so flawless
You can tell that Saskia has studied her character very well, the way she gives such good answers about Standish, that speaks of the work she has done behind it, very professional; and as a result she has offered us a character so attached to the Catherine of the books, I love it!
she's really good in it-the whole cast is amazing
@@eliaca10 The understated performances are a big part of why this show works so well. It's fun and intelligent without insisting upon itself.
@@BatmanHQYTthat’s cos it’s British I reckon, can you you imagine the US tv Hollywood version of Slow Horses..? Although I reckon John Lithgow could do a US Jackson Lamb maybe
Love these guys working together there just so good together
I love this series, especially the dynamic between the characters of these two actors; I really enjoy the scenes between Standish and Lamb.
Looking forward to the next series. He's brilliant. I remember Saskia in Close My Eyes which was such a powerful film. She was incredible.
Gary is a genius actor. He can metamorphose into anyone. I didn’t know Saskia that much before Slow Horses, or at least don’t remember, but her character is fantastic acting and key to the series. Need to go back and revisit other roles of her.
I remember Saskia from I.D. and the first season of Luther
Try ‘Close my eyes’. Brilliant film in which she plays Alan Rickman’s wife.
Absolutely. Understated and brilliant.
Saskia one of the most underrated actresses. She deserves more roles.
Agree 100%
Truly.
Gary Oldman is a fantastic actor
Just finished season 3. The industry, seriously, should look at this TV show and use it as a learning aid. It is a masterclass in how it should be done. OUTSTANDING!
pretty damn good is Slow Horses. The BBC and Channel 4 (UK) should take that as the standard to get thair reputation back.
The American industry should. British series are much better made, slower build up and built to last. American stuff is mainly for short attention span divs.
Thank you for getting this interview done !
Such a great series. The books, the actors, the direction and the music are all outstanding.
Yeah!! More seasons! Slow Horses is great!
This series is going to be one of those that starts off well but not too insanely and slowly builds up to be a monster hit. It humanises the intelligence game, bringing in beautifully flawed characters with tight scripts and a deliciously dark sense of humour.
"humanises" Good one! 2023 = We all are and We all LOVE backstabbing bastards ;-D
Not likely, no matter how good it is. Who’s got Apple TV?
I’m going to read the books before I watch it btw. First one was very good
So stoked for Season 3! Keep 'em coming!
Can we have 10 seasons of this amazing amazing shows?
One hell of a show the first season was. I enjoyed it so much I bought all the books in the set.
Series 4 is incredible
Top Show one of the best Ive seen in a while, very believable
Like the books, the series is BRILLIANT - best thing on TV and the standard of acting is superb. It’s funny, dark and exciting in equal measures. Can’t wait for series 3!

Both are outstanding actors! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟❤❤❤❤❤
Great series with amazing actors. The writing and screenplay is second to none.
I also hate it when actors pretend to eat! So funny to hear fellow intellectual Gary Oldman shares my frustration!
I didn’t recognise Saskia Reeves, I had to look up who she is. It wasn’t just the hair, she normally has this feistiness and this glint in her eye that is totally missing from her character in this show. That’s good acting.
Standish looks older than her too.
I love how casually they revealed and taught the audience how pre-production of a show like this works.
First class show! Top cast, awesone acting with British flair!
Saskia is so breathtakingly stunning
‘butterfly kiss’ is indeed an intense and beautiful movie, reeves is excellent in it, highly recommended
It got better as it went along. They laid it on a bit thick to begin with, during the opening scenes I kept expecting Jackson Lamb to start singing “Anarchy in the UK”.

Its weird seeing them have a civil conversation
Just finished season 2 is actually really good is sid gonna come back or is she dead

Not mentioned because Alec Guinness did it so much better years before him
@@sen5i Yeah I'm sure that was the reason because some old limey weetard liked Obi Wan better than the greatest living British actor in a series from 50 years ago is why it wasn't mentioned.
Season 3 is outstanding, the previous two seasons were extremely good, but season 3 is even better.
Please do 10 more seasons!!!!
They both seem so unassumingly dangerous as Cold War warriors. Modern day ninjas walking around among us.
Completely agree, JFK is an astonishing piece of work.
JFK is a masterpiece. Gary Oldman had a pivotal role, and small screen time, but he was fabulous.
Pour. The tea. Eat. The food.
I😂😂😂😂😂
Loved the book series. No apple TV; don't know how to stream it on Android😢
Es geht aber. Ich habe es auch hingekriegt.
So glad Gary said that about the pouring of the tea. It's something that has annoyed me for years and I thought it was just me! "pour the tea... eat the food..." pass the gas...
And (spoiler alert) the end of series 2 is very different to the book.
I just saw coming attractions for season four and I think they have a superb actress from Humans British remake of Scandinavian TV show where she is a robot and fell in love with her robot hating cop partner
Great gritty British tv.
compare's with oldman's portrail of Churchill in Darkest Hour !!
Right there with Gary about food on screen, it’s so obvious when actors pretend to drink coffee or tea and it’s so obvious there is not a drop of tea or coffee in sight.
Saskia is beautiful!
Saskia Reeves is so young and beautiful... ❤
She’s only three years younger than Gary
Saskia reeves ia still hot
Yes Gary! he obviously completely empty takeaway coffees in every series or film - the risk from a weighty hot liquid makes you hold and handle the cup in a particular way and faking it is instantly recognisable.
He starts to look like old version of Dracula. Cool.
Nee, er sieht besser aus😍

Great series - but it's a bit of an embarrassing interview.
Sadly, S3 is also turning into a Diversity Shitshow....
What the heck are talking about, weirdo ? 😂 its a great season - No wokenes in sight
He doesn't like to see black people or women.
I remember Saskia when she was young & beautiful, before she starting going bald 😔
Don't be a dick, get older or die, thems the choices! Also, look in a mirror🙄.
please stop loud piggy
more storyline please and less sardonic existentialism.....
Isn’t this Chanel dead ? 😂
Wtf Dude it’s got nothing to do with perfume.
Isn’t this Chanel deaddddd ? 😂
