    Great video 👍 Bawdy humour at its best, the reason Les Dawson pulls "faces and Mouths" word's it's because in the Milling cloth factories because of the noise the women would "mouth" to each other and have conversations 😮

    Les Dawson was a very well-read man. He starred as a grandmother in an English version of an Argentinian political satire play called Nonna. Nonna depicted the avarice of the Argentinian dictatorship.

    They were a brilliant act. So funny and there is nothing like that anymore. Les Dawson used to tell a joke about one of his uncles, who had a lost his life in a really bizarre way. He was sleeping on a water bed when the house caught fire and he was poached to death. He had many more like that. Now on a Saturday night all we get are celebrity game shows.

    Hi E.B., great to see you enjoying some more of Les & Roy in their comedic alter-egos. Here is Les Dawson`s Hero & part inspiration for the character of Ada. Look for Norman Evans in Over The Garden Wall.

    I don't know if you are aware why Les sometimes speaks the words silently when playing Sissy. In the Lancashire factories women loved to talk to each other and this often happened over the noise of the factory machines. The women learned how to communicate by using facial expression and and forming words. Les mimics this behaviour perfectly.

    Allan,I'm not going to lie ,my favourite reactions of yours are classic comedy sketches, and your appreciation & infectious laughs are contagious. I know you,want to experiment, you get issues with youtube&you had medical issues,stillgame I liked, and you could bypass using daily motion & a link for only selfish reasons. I want Allan back of old..

    To think Cissy & Ada started when Roy and Les were just messing about to entertain the film crew during breaks in filming other sketches. The producer saw it and asked them to turn it into a full sketch.

  • @mark-nm4tc
    @mark-nm4tc 14 днів тому +2

    Les sometimes went off-piste with the script in these sketches, veering into ad lib which sometimes caught poor Roy out:).

      We got a bit of wind and rain but nothing major. Upper state and North Carolina were hammered as was parts of inland Georgia. My sister is a travelling nurse in a town in the path of the storm and they had to leave their camper for a motel. They got lucky. There's over 6000 people unaccounted for, roads and bridges that are gone or covered by mudslides, homes and businesses just washed away. We got very very lucky in comparison.

    I love the nativity of this. It’s very British, smutty, but not offensive. The idea of drag, when it wasn’t an issue. Going back hundreds of years, when all actors were forced to play female parts, wrongly of course, because women weren’t allowed to act. Then the very British pantomime dames, obviously Dawson made it in to an art form.
