I wished we got a bit more animated fights since it would be nice seeing Ainz go full wizard mode but either way still enjoyed it P.S THIS COMMENT WAS SPONSORED BY RUNE TECH

I remember how weird I thought season 4 was for just straight up skipping two volumes at the time. But then realized, yeah it’s really more of an isolated event. Overall, while the movie was by no means perfect, as a fan, I still found it highly enjoyable even if I was a little irked at some of the missing scenes and messed up nuances. And diving into cut stuff is always fun anyways.
Yup, was a breath of fresh air with how horrible things could be portrayed. Having a whole movie highlighting how awful demiurge is without him even being present was awesome.

The movie was great, a lot of fun. I heard is essentially tries to cram in 2 entire volumes worth of content and it's admittedly VERY noticeable, but as a whole if you like Overlord you'll like it.
yes as someone whos read the novels I can say they skipped a lot, But I can also understand why for a movie format, there was a lot more of them saving specific cities and being on the run from demiurges forces. whereas in the movie there was only really 2 city fights. the only scene im sad they cut was when the paladins first arrived in the sorcerer kingdoms city they had to go through a class basically being like "all citizens of the kingdom are equal, youre gonna see some weird shit, do not draw your weapons or the guards will see you as hostile and attack you"
I don’t like overlord I LOVE it if I don’t LOVE it I don’t swallow. They skipped all the detail that makes the arc good as well as a majority of the action. What we’re left with is basically a glorified slide show giving an overview of the plot without actually making anything interesting. Absolutely unacceptable to skip all the important background info and still skip or abridge fights. If I’m not there for the story surely the action has to be good with a movie budget right? Wrong you don’t even get good action out of it so what’s the point of watching the movie.
@@dgenaraition Yep a lot of strange cuts and placing of scenes but I'd say as a whole it was a fun movie. Though I wish they spent a bit more time on the final battle. It's just not as satisfying when all you see is a light show, even if it was one really wild and crazy light show.
@@ryandavis4629 I certainly wish the final battle was done better. It felt more like watching a Disneyland light show than it did a hardcore battle. I watched the movie yesterday. And it looks amazing. I did feel like we jumped around and skipped over quite a bit of things, and it felt like they were cutting things out to fit it into 2 hours, I also wish that we got to see more of the fights instead of skipping over a lot of them. 😢
As someone who watched it and is caught up with the light novels, I liked that the movie seemed to understand what it wanted to focus it's pacing around, usually you'd expect things to be cut, but it seemed they had a clear goal of what to cut and why in order to keep the vision of the movie focused. You'd see reviews criticizing this as "dense" and "low action" but to me, it felt like the movie focused on exactly what I wanted to see. I'd almost say it was made for light novel fans because of the pacing making it easy to lose track of how much time is passing. I was also surprised how good the dub was, of course as a native English speaker I could nitpick it in ways I couldn't the sub, where my lack of knowledge makes me fill in blanks favorably, but they both succeeded in capturing the mood and emotion of scenes. I'd recommend seeing both because the dub has moments where some lines are lost in the mixing, and the sub requires you to look away when audiovisual impact is important. Dub then Sub i'd say. Also you got to see the movie in Japan? Did you get the ghost ship of katze plains? Lucky. Spoilers here, kind of, but back to what was focused on, I like that they focused less on Ainz fighting and more on character interactions and New Worlders fighting. I feel it really chose Overlord's strengths to focus on, especially considering the fighting is at its best when it's more mix of step by step game guide as well as fight, like Shalltear or Mare, and this kind of fighting isn't really in the Sacred Kingdom.
The movie was the plot equivalent of eating your vegetables. From the standpoint of the viewer, it's not an exciting endeavor because *spoiler redacted* reasons. But it's necessary to understand as we move forward, so eat up. They did add some butter and flavor to the veggies though as the voice acting performances and sound design were quite good, thus making it worth a theater watch over seeing it at home... at least on my meager setup :)
I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, the spectacle and the performance. It was excellent through and through. Now, the rune tech certainly stole the show, but who can blame them! The craftmanship was sublime!

I watched it in Japan last month and I thought it was amazing. I've been waiting warmly for your videos ever since after that ending I just have to know more about what was set up in the novels for the upcoming parts of the story regarding the Sacred Kingdom.
The overlord movie was phenomenal. It was the highlight of the past 2 months for me, hands down. The twists, the turns, the genius of the Sorceror King, Ains Ooal Gown- it was sublime!
Glad to see you’ll be covering the movie, the movie skipped quite a bit of details, so your videos will provide insight to those who only watched the movie.
Oh yea cut content time. Hype for the review and cut content video(s) covering the movie. I like the movie. Went to see it in theaters on Friday. More Ains shenanigans.
My guy I just came from the movies and I loved it. Even if there was cut content is absolutely worth to watch overlord on the big screen and such good quality.
This movie was great. I saw some light novel readers had beef which gets me excited for Cut Content. But as an anime andy I had a lot of fun watching the movie.
The Movie is just a Big Advertisement for Runes. I laughed so hard when i realized the entire plot reading it. No ones even listening on bone daddy's Advertising lol
rated it a 8/10. I know Ainz is op and all but the final fight should have been more of a visual spectacle. I think that was all it was lacking for the movie going audience. also glad the merch is back just ordered my new hoodie
I saw the movie by chance today, had no idea it existed and it caught my eye driving past the theater. walked out of the movie and here's this video 🎉🔥
i took a friend that didnt really watch anime to watch osk and he really enjoyed it idk if he plans on watching the rest of overlord but I'm happy he enjoyed it plus i thought it was really funny how ainz took the opportunity to use demiurges plan and promote the rune technology to the sacred kingdom through half of the movie.
watched this movie on Sat....this is the greatest show ever created period! I can't believe how well "create the problem sell the solution" works in this animie lol
The movie was fun but i liked how they did the final twist in the book a lot more Since the arc is 2 novels the mystery is casually set up in the first book and then answered in the second giving people time to think of the posibilities, you also get to hear the internal thoughts of some character so it makes guessing the impostor harder
Saw the movie Friday. I'd re-read the Sacred Kingdom vols a few weeks before , so they were fresh enough in my mind. The movie was a fairly accurate retelling given the format , Madhouse was on top of it's game as usual, and while a lot of things I would've liked to have seen animated (the whole Carne village scene when Beta tells Enri Ainz is dead, for example - and they could've added more Ainz vs "Demon Maids") had to be cut for time, it flowed pretty well. I can even appreciate Neia's speech being at the end as opposed to occurring where it should have. During the fights between Ainz and Wrath, did you catch yourself calling out spell names? Looking forward to your "Cut Content" for the film!
I really liked the movie. I am not a light novel reader, but I have heard about novel details which include past and future content. The main thing that threw me off for a bit was......... the thriving city that was showcased. Took me a bit of time to realize it was E Rantel. When we saw the town in S4, it was dreary, but this one was thriving. I guess it was to deprict the "Utopia" that Ains envisioned.
After watching S4 ending it definitly made watching the movie hard considering it doesn't really have the same climaxes. But when you know the context of where it fits into the season and how well isolated they managed to keep this it's impressive in its own right for sure. While I was expecting a bit more for a movie, I'm also left not disappointed at all because it was nice getting to see exactly what happened. How they somehow managed to skip over this much content in s4 and make it make sense was impressive on its own but how it can just neetly slot back in is so impressive. Still I would have loved to of seen a scene like that epic dance ending on the big screen a bit more. I do feel like they cut a bit too much of Ainz's fight scenes in the movie, I wish they had given him more room to breeth and show his supreme power.
I saw the movie Friday night, and as it started and went on, I wondered how they were going to do things from the novel. Some I thought they did very well. I thought they did a fantastic job with Neia Baraja, and the bow stuff was well done. I was very disappointed with the final fight and thought it should have been more of an up close and personal aspect than what they did. The movie is a fun romp, so if you love Overlord, you will not be disappointed, and it is over 2 hours long.
I watched the movie, and I gotta say, the meeting with Demiurge and a certain familiar face before that face is revealed and the new OxT theme kicks in (iykyk) makes me wonder if they actually showed the moment a bait and switch happened and I missed it.
Went to see it the other day, was pretty good overall but they did merge some battles for the sake of time and also cut some out entirely, makes sense there was alot to get through in just 2 hours id say a solid 9/10.
I saw it on the 1st night, kinda wished i rewatch the few eps leading to it. It was abit different than what i expected. Lowkey hoped i got to see Brain led a hand 🥺 Did appreciate 1 of the maids getting some screen time and know abit more about them.
I watched it tonight and it wasn’t what I expected at first. What I’m about to say may be spoilers so fair warning. The trailer made it look like Ainz was going to die so I assumed that he got his wish and met other players from Yggdrasil, but like true Overlord fashion is them scheming like usual to strengthen themselves while at the same time trying to bring attention to themselves to see if they can find other Yggdrasil players. I love how the story control the masses through scheming instead of brute force. I can’t wait for season 5!
please do a video on the movie and some of the missing scenes and how it differs with some of the character interactions as compared to the light novel.
I think the movie leaves out alot of important details like stuff with blue roses. A bit of a shame but thats the drawback with trying to smash so much into one place. Kinda reminds me of the fgo camelot movie.
I haven't seen it but I figure it was a Movie that tells you what happened between Seasons 3 & 4. But learning it happens during the season was interesting.
Just watch it last night, enjoy the hell out of it, i read the lightnovel and could see that even in the 2 hours of the movie they cut some content but nothing major that affected the flow of the story, so as an anime movie 9/10!
Just watched the movie last night. I gotta say it was pretty solid but some of the content they ended up cutting made it hard to follow at some points for people who hadn't read the novels. The biggest shame is that you don't really get to see Ainz and the Evil Lord actually fight like you do in the novels. In the pros column though, it's interesting they told the entire story from an outside point of view so you get a firsthand experience of what Ainz looks like to others.
I was smiling like an idiot for most of the movie's run time. Except when Demiurge found his new sword. I was excited/dreading how that was going to be adapted.
So, they made the volumes where they showed the "holy mace" into a movie? Was the animation of the usage of the "holy mace" looks divine? Will definitely book a ticket if it is.
Just watched the movie tonight! I watched in the dub and enjoyed the voice acting I think it was really good and found shizu and Neia’s interaction fun My only real complaint is I would’ve liked to watch ainz fight the wrath demon more up close like with Shalltear instead of from a far away perspective and how they were flying around in a similar way to dragonball
Prefacing by saying that Overlord is my favorite among the Kadokawa Isekai Quartet. Honestly the movie is fanservice. I'm so glad to finally see the arc animated but the movie felt like it was made first and foremost for the long-time fans. There were pacing issues considering that the movie runtime is equivalent to around 6 episodes condensing 2 LN volumes of content. It felt a bit jarring and disjointed how there's a fade in to one scene, some dialogue happens, then a fade out to a different scene and I noticed this happening a bunch of times. There were some scenes that were skipped entirely but still referred to, for example Remedios yells at Neia for doing something in a previous scene but that scene actually happens off-screen. Nevertheless I still enjoyed watching since I already knew what was going on but for those who are not that invested in the series they might have trouble following along with the movie.
After watching the holy club in action, what popped into my head was “ What if Darkness (KonoSuba) was the club?” Here’s the situation- Jaldabaoth: [Swings the club at the paladins] “ Wow, this woman makes a great weapon.” Darkness: [Barely has a scratch on her] “ Oh yes…!” [Smiling being in bliss] Jaldabaoth: “ I just which it didn’t make these sounds…” Bonus AU (Cuz why not?)- Retardios and Kelart died but Calca lived. She saw right through Doppel-Caspond’s ruse and had him killed. After the war the holy kingdom became apart of the Sorcerer kingdom and supported Neia’s cult… Gustav: [“ This should be a joyous victory but Queen Calca isn’t…”] Calca: “ Paladin Leader.” Gustav: “ Yes Queen Calca.” Calca: “ If you find them on Holy Kingdom territory make sure every Demi-Human race who aligned with Jaldabaoth are dead. Also bring the nobles here… I’d like to discuss something with them all.” [Calca looks at Gustav with cold emotionless eyes] After that Calca changed into a different woman. Her smile is gone and she’s now crueler. Calca ordered the execution of nobles who failed or Abandon to do their duties. Some nobles escaped to the Sorcerer kingdom… Calca received a gift from an unknown sender; a robe made out of Zoastia pelt, from the one that killed Retardios. She wears it every night as a reminder of her failure as a queen. Calca was all alone, she never smiles and started make more practical and underhanded methods to make sure the holy kingdom is safe. “ this will not happen again.” She vows “ We will be a strong kingdom.”
1:35 This is actually a mistranslation in the subtitles, in japanease they do refer to the sacred kingdom. I believe this mistake happens again in s4, but i dont remember when

I'm glad you watched this with me. You have a much better understanding of inside. And how long these wars have been going on.
This channel is single-handedly the reason why i started reading the lightnovel. He sold it well to me.
Glad to see you’ll be covering the movie, the movie skipped quite a bit of details, so your videos will provide insight to those who only watched the movie.
I watched the film in London. Demiurge is so creative 😈 turning the hostage into a physical weapon was immaculate.
0:28 So it's kinda like Rogue One in Star Wars, filling in gaps in our information, while not changing anything.
Literally just got back from watching this and now this is in my recommended. Perfect!
Same
I’m on my way to watch it now 🥵
Thought the movie was great! I was thinking this was a continuation but it makes much more sense that it was before they took the Kingdom! Thanks!
Oh yea cut content time. Hype for the review and cut content video(s) covering the movie. I like the movie. Went to see it in theaters on Friday.
More Ains shenanigans.
The movie was awesome. Can’t wait for the cut content videos!
Just watched it yesterday. It was so good!!
My guy I just came from the movies and I loved it. Even if there was cut content is absolutely worth to watch overlord on the big screen and such good quality.
Just came back from seeing the movie. THERE IS AN AFTER CREDITS SCENE! All in all, I enjoyed it.
Oh no! I watched the film yesterday but didn’t realize there was an after credits scene …. Argh! Would you mind sharing what I missed?
@@geekboyatl I was 20 seconds of some jokes with Bone Dad and Delta chatting.
@@geekboyatl runes
@ - Wait … have you heard about these amazing new weapons using RUNE technology? ;)
This movie was great. I saw some light novel readers had beef which gets me excited for Cut Content. But as an anime andy I had a lot of fun watching the movie.
Thank You!
Just got my ticket. Super excited.
The Movie is just a Big Advertisement for Runes. I laughed so hard when i realized the entire plot reading it. No ones even listening on bone daddy's Advertising lol
Great movie and I’m glad the succubae jackets are back!
Just got back from the movie. Loved it. I would go back to watch it again if I could
I just got through the Sacred Kingdom arc in the LN, so I'm GREATLY looking forward to the movie!
I saw it yesterday. I loved it.
rated it a 8/10. I know Ainz is op and all but the final fight should have been more of a visual spectacle. I think that was all it was lacking for the movie going audience. also glad the merch is back just ordered my new hoodie
I didn't know it was coming out!!!
Will definitely see it in theaters
the new movie is soooooo good please do a cut content ASAP
I'm very excited to watch this movie
truly enjoyed the movie, colud feel some bits were they seemed to jump over things but over all good pace and enjoyable, the first 15min go crazy.
I still remember Neja's bow 🎉and Rune Technology 🎉 filled the cinema with nonstop laughter.😂😂😂
Yeah that lady went a bit over on her acting omg that was funny
Cool, whats happening with season 5? whens that coming out?
Please sam! Make cut content on it as soon as you can 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I was supposed to watch it last night have to wait next Saturday ugh imax lets go
I saw the movie by chance today, had no idea it existed and it caught my eye driving past the theater. walked out of the movie and here's this video 🎉🔥
i took a friend that didnt really watch anime to watch osk and he really enjoyed it idk if he plans on watching the rest of overlord but I'm happy he enjoyed it plus i thought it was really funny how ainz took the opportunity to use demiurges plan and promote the rune technology to the sacred kingdom through half of the movie.
Honestly, this is the only anime tuber i can watch. His voice is too smooth
watched this movie on Sat....this is the greatest show ever created period! I can't believe how well "create the problem sell the solution" works in this animie lol
I literally just came home from watching the movie, it was beautiful
The movie was fun but i liked how they did the final twist in the book a lot more
Since the arc is 2 novels the mystery is casually set up in the first book and then answered in the second giving people time to think of the posibilities, you also get to hear the internal thoughts of some character so it makes guessing the impostor harder
And lest we forget: ua-cam.com/video/3FB1b_UDkFc/v-deo.htmlsi=_9YhHEY5-CKRBlVX
More overlord content plz!❤
There is an after credit scene for those that do watch. Great movie, didn't notice 2 hours had past
Ty!
I need season 5-12 NOW! this is the best anime series I have ever watched and I will be dammed if I die of old age before this series wraps up.
Been waiting for this lol😂
I saw the movie Friday night, and as it started and went on, I wondered how they were going to do things from the novel. Some I thought they did very well. I thought they did a fantastic job with Neia Baraja, and the bow stuff was well done. I was very disappointed with the final fight and thought it should have been more of an up close and personal aspect than what they did. The movie is a fun romp, so if you love Overlord, you will not be disappointed, and it is over 2 hours long.
WE NEED MORE OVERLORD CONTENT!!!!!
I watched the movie, and I gotta say, the meeting with Demiurge and a certain familiar face before that face is revealed and the new OxT theme kicks in (iykyk) makes me wonder if they actually showed the moment a bait and switch happened and I missed it.
Saw the movie in dub yesterday it was amazing I was surprised by how much people they were in the theater more than 20
Went to see it the other day, was pretty good overall but they did merge some battles for the sake of time and also cut some out entirely, makes sense there was alot to get through in just 2 hours id say a solid 9/10.
Holy kingdom arc is my favorite overlord arcs. I hope the movie does it justice
I just watched it and it was ok but I felt like the entire movie was just a big ads for ainz to sell more rune weapons.
Arifureta season 3 when will you make a video?
I saw it on the 1st night, kinda wished i rewatch the few eps leading to it. It was abit different than what i expected.
Lowkey hoped i got to see Brain led a hand 🥺
Did appreciate 1 of the maids getting some screen time and know abit more about them.
Day 181 of asking for a grand assassin Hassan servant review
Just watched it and I thought Ainz trying to advertise his runes throughout the movie was so funny
I watched in the dub and enjoyed the voice acting I think it was really good and found shizu and Neia’s interaction fun
My only real complaint is I would’ve liked to watch ainz fight the wrath demon more up close like with Shalltear instead of from a far away perspective and how they were flying around in a similar way to dragonball
If you like the movie and want to see it continue I recommend reading the fan fiction The Cult of Ainz. I would love to see it animated
After watching the holy club in action, what popped into my head was “ What if Darkness (KonoSuba) was the club?”
Here’s the situation-
Jaldabaoth: [Swings the club at the paladins] “ Wow, this woman makes a great weapon.”
Darkness: [Barely has a scratch on her] “ Oh yes…!” [Smiling being in bliss]
Jaldabaoth: “ I just which it didn’t make these sounds…”
Bonus AU (Cuz why not?)-
Retardios and Kelart died but Calca lived. She saw right through Doppel-Caspond’s ruse and had him killed.
After the war the holy kingdom became apart of the Sorcerer kingdom and supported Neia’s cult…
Gustav: [“ This should be a joyous victory but Queen Calca isn’t…”]
Calca: “ Paladin Leader.”
Gustav: “ Yes Queen Calca.”
Calca: “ If you find them on Holy Kingdom territory make sure every Demi-Human race who aligned with Jaldabaoth are dead. Also bring the nobles here… I’d like to discuss something with them all.” [Calca looks at Gustav with cold emotionless eyes]
After that Calca changed into a different woman. Her smile is gone and she’s now crueler. Calca ordered the execution of nobles who failed or Abandon to do their duties. Some nobles escaped to the Sorcerer kingdom…
Calca received a gift from an unknown sender; a robe made out of Zoastia pelt, from the one that killed Retardios. She wears it every night as a reminder of her failure as a queen. Calca was all alone, she never smiles and started make more practical and underhanded methods to make sure the holy kingdom is safe. “ this will not happen again.” She vows “ We will be a strong kingdom.”
I’m watching the movie tomorrow which kind of pushes my rule of only watching new movies on opening weekend
Saw it on the 7th, was good, agree it's a good stand-alone, and a meme for runes.
I went to go watch it and loved it. Surprised so many people where there and many laughed at stuff that happen in the Movie.

This is actually a mistranslation in the subtitles, in japanease they do refer to the sacred kingdom. I believe this mistake happens again in s4, but i dont remember when
