I've played around with this just for fun quite a bit. You have to be VERY VERY specific in what you ask.
    "Act as my master perfumer"
Using this list of these perfumery ingredients (copy and paste all your materials), create me a perfume which will smell like (give brief) ..... give formula in grams and explain how and why you used each ingredient.. "suggest any other materials which is not on the list which could evolve this perfume"
Or for example ask it to create a damp moss stone accord using the ingredients list above ect
The more specific you are in your prompts with giving it info to use such as list of ingredients and what exactly to make you'll get actually okay results.
Not amazing perfumes by any means, but not bad for AI or just for bouncing ideas off if you ever get stuck.
    :))
Great video though Sam as always! :)

Ive done this also, I even copy and paste a list of aroma chemicals I have, not just the ones I want to use but all of them. It tells me it recognizes them. I tell Chatgpt to then provide real world dilutions for each aroma chemical. I will give you a pretty simple formula. But you can even ask it, "based on what we have here, what would you suggest adding to it as the Ai?" It will give you a revised formula, and you can keep revising and revising and adding a building.
I even tell it to make a sample test of like 3 ounces for example. It will list out each aroma chemical in drops, or weight, and percentage even.
Bujt your right, you need to have alot of information going into it, and be very very specific on what you what ChatGPT to do.

I found that when you have an ingredient list and a few formulas it can craft a decent base starting point, and it expands from there.

so funny enough, givaudan has a custom build ai model for creating perfumes I can't remember its name I think its called carrlto and it is supposedly really good at what it does, I am guessing it is this good because givaudan has the right data to train the generative model.
it generates perfumes based on descriptions and they are extremely accurate. amazing piece of tech
but it is one of the coolest ways AI has impacted perfumery

Very cool video idea! Just a note though, the version you used is GPT 3.5 which is the free and weaker one. GPT 4 is a lot better (though I don't know how well it would do in perfumery). You can use it for free too through Bing ai.
In any case, I enjoyed the video. Keep it up!

I literally did a year of research on how to make perfume with Ai& youtube and compared it to what perfumers do to make perfume and it is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT, I can now make my own perfumes and I now know how to formulate and measure correctly and soon opening my own brand, but ofcourse I’m doing it with a professional perfumer expert 🎉❤

Very interesting concept. Food manufacturers are already using AI to develop and refine recipes with great results and AI will become commonplace with fragrance makers very quickly. Here are some ideas that might get you closer to what you're trying to accomplish.
Using ChatGPT 3.5 is like using a basic math textbook to learn algebra. It's a very basic model that exclusively uses old training data without the ability to browse the Internet. Using advanced models like Google's Gemini or Claude will get you better results.
AI is only as good as the prompt you give it. The better and more specific the input, the better the output. Here is an example of a similar approach using Gemini. I've given some background, the style of fragrance I want to emulate and guidance on what I want the different to incorporate.
Prompt: "You are a world-class perfumer in the style of Pierre Bourdon. You have created such iconic perfumes such as Dior Sauvage, Creed Aventus and YSL Homme. Your job is to create a new perfume in the style of Valentino Uomo Intense with fruity top notes, earthy middle notes such as juniper and sage and flowery base notes.
The formula should be written with portions noted in grams and synthetics can be used as needed."
    Here are the results:
    ## Valentino Uomo Evocativo (Evocative)
This fragrance builds upon the classic Valentino Uomo Intense structure, adding a touch of playfulness and lightness with a vibrant fruity opening and a sophisticated floral base.
**Concentration:** Eau de Parfum (15% fragrance oil)
    **Total Volume:** 100ml
    **Top Notes (30 minutes):**
    * Italian Mandarin Oil (Citrus nobilis) - 5g: Uplifting and zesty, captures the essence of the Mediterranean.
    * Pink Pepper CO2 Extract (Schinus molle) - 2g: Adds a touch of spice and warmth to the fruity accord.
    * Calone 1950 (1,0,1-Trimethyl-3-cyclohexenyl acetate) - 1g: Synthetic molecule with a fresh, oceanic vibe, enhancing the airiness of the opening.
    **Middle Notes (3-4 hours):**
    * Juniper Berry Oil (Juniperus communis) - 3g: Earthy and slightly woody, provides a dry contrast to the sweetness of the top notes.
    * Clary Sage Oil (Salvia sclarea) - 2g: Herbaceous and aromatic, adds depth and complexity.
    * Lavandin Grosso Oil (Lavandula angustifolia) - 2g: Aromatic with a hint of floral sweetness, creates a smooth transition to the base.
    **Base Notes (6+ hours):**
    * Orris Root Absolute (Iris germanica) - 4g: Powdery and slightly floral, lends a touch of elegance and sophistication.
    * Violet Leaf Absolute (Viola odorata) - 2g: Green and slightly powdery, adds a unique floral character.
    * Ambroxan (Ambrox super) - 3g: Synthetic molecule with a woody, ambergris-like character, provides depth and warmth.
    * Iso E Super (1-(1,1-Dimethylethyl) - 4-Methoxybenzene) - 2g: Synthetic molecule with a woody, cedarwood-like character, extends the longevity of the fragrance.
    * Vanilla Bean Absolute (Vanilla planifolia) - 1g: Sweet and creamy, adds a touch of sensuality and warmth.
**Solvent:** Dipropylene Glycol (DPG) - 78g: A fragrance-grade alcohol that allows the perfume oils to dissolve and project.
    **Instructions:**
    1. Weigh all essential oils and aroma chemicals into a clean, dry flask.
    2. Slowly add DPG while stirring gently to ensure complete dissolution.
    3. Allow the mixture to macerate for at least 48 hours in a cool, dark place.
    4. After maceration, filter the fragrance through a coffee filter to remove any sediment.
    5. The perfume is now ready to be bottled.
    **Tips:**
    * This is just a starting point, feel free to adjust the proportions based on your own preferences.
    * Consider adding a small amount of tincture of benzoin (1-2g) to enhance the longevity and sweetness of the fragrance.
    * Let the finished perfume mature for several weeks before wearing to allow the notes to fully meld together.
This fragrance evokes a sense of confidence and sophistication, perfect for the modern gentleman. The unexpected combination of fruity top notes with a floral base creates a unique and intriguing scent profile.
Since I'm not a perfumer I don't know how accurate this looks but from a layman's perspective it seems like a good starting point.

      chat GPT 3.5
Here's a formula for a new perfume in the style of Valentino Uomo Intense with fruity top notes, earthy middle notes, and flowery base notes. This formula balances the richness and depth of Uomo Intense with a unique twist of fruity accents and earthy undertones.
      Perfume Formula: "Venerato"
Top Notes (20% of the formula)
      Bergamot (Citrus aurantium) - 6.5 g
      Blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum) - 5 g
      Apple (Pyrus malus) - 3.5 g
      Pink Pepper (Schinus molle) - 5 g
Middle Notes (50% of the formula)
      Juniper (Juniperus communis) - 20 g
      Sage (Salvia officinalis) - 18 g
      Lavender Absolute (Lavandula angustifolia) - 10 g
      Cedarwood Virginia (Juniperus virginiana) - 12 g
      Ambroxan - 15 g
Base Notes (30% of the formula)
      Iris Concrete (Iris germanica) - 12 g
      Leather Accord - 10 g
Tonka Bean Absolute (Dipteryx odorata) - 8 g
      Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia) - 5 g
      Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) - 5 g
      Instructions:
Mixing: Combine the top, middle, and base notes in separate containers. Begin with the base notes, as they provide the foundation for the perfume. Allow the base mixture to macerate for 24-48 hours.
Blending: Add the middle notes to the base blend and mix thoroughly. Let the mixture rest for another 24-48 hours.
Final Touch: Add the top notes to the blend. Ensure all ingredients are well combined, and allow the perfume to mature for at least two weeks to achieve the desired balance.
Dilution: If the perfume is too concentrated, dilute with ethanol or a perfumer's alcohol to reach the desired strength.
Aging: After blending and dilution, allow the perfume to age for 4-6 weeks to let all components meld together harmoniously.
      Scent Profile:
Top: Fresh and fruity with a spicy edge.
Middle: Earthy, aromatic, and slightly woody with a hint of herbal freshness.
Base: Deep, floral, and warm with a leathery, sweet finish.
This formulation should result in a rich, complex, and elegant fragrance that mirrors the intensity of Valentino Uomo Intense while introducing a unique interplay of fruity and earthy notes.

Try something like this using GPT4o. This should just be for generating ideas, not to copy exact grams etc. I am not a perfumer, but have be using GPT for other types of design for work for a while now. "Play the role of a master perfumer. I want you to design a perfume influenced by houses (x,x), and perfumes (x,x,x). Include some of these notes (x,x,x). Use the previous listed houses and perfumes as inspiration. I am looking for (description here) type of smell. (optional: seasonal, sillage, etc). Include synthetic and natural ingredients, put everything into grams in table format. Finally, please describe the smell and top, middle and bottom notes one would pick up, even if not exactly in the formula." After you get an answer you can ask for suggested adjustments. See how that works.
