- Hooray! A new baby gorilla, and this time for our famous silverback Bokito. Mommy Aya gave birth last thursday on friday night. It has been a surprise but it is a very lovely surprise! I hope you'll enjoy the cutest shots of this little baby gorilla. Half sister Tonka is very interested and stayed as close as possible to Aya and her baby.

I've been studying primates now for well over 25 years and I have found that Gorillas and Orangutans mothers are so content with their babies. What I meant is if you look into the mother's eyes with their babies you can see their love! It's beautiful the way they are with their little ones
It is time humans start loving their babies as much as a gorilla
I’ve studied the language of the silver backs and it’s amazing. I love love these beautiful animals ❤❤❤ . I’d love to live with them.
I agree.....chimps are not the same, they are crazier, louder and anxious more than gorillas and orangutans.

Mother Nature is spectacular. Watching this little angel, so fragile, later become a magnificent and powerful adult is marvelous. I just wish for all of them to be as safe and protected on mom's arms as this little one.

It’s my understanding that this wasn’t a planned pregnancy as Aya was on birth control pills but just like in humans they failed. Just another example of how much we have in common with 🦍. Congratulations to both parents and the Zoo staff .❤️🦍
I didn’t even know you could put animals on birth control! the more you know! 😳
@@linabelinaa yeah they're just like humans. Get a pill every morning, but ofc if they get ill it doesn't work and they don't use a condom xD. They do use a human pregnancy test to test if they're pregnant ;). We've got so much in common with these wonderful animals.

Did the zoo at least know she was pregnant so she got good prenatal care? A surprise baby gorilla is a huge blessing. Congratulations! ETA: It sounds like this precious bundle was a total surprise. So glad the baby is healthy (that we know of) and mom and the whole family are happy.
Ofc. Don't worry. They have the very best care here. But I think it has to do with the fact they're only allowed to breed when the breeding program allows them. So I guess it wasn't "planned". Baby looks healthy, drinks good so indeed a whole happy family
I love how Aya built a wall of straw to keep lookers from getting close enough to touch and she snacked on the straw too! Baby is precious with all of her wrinkles she has to grow into. She was still tired from her journey through birth. Is her hair lighter on top or was that the light?

I just read that Jabali, Tayari’s boy is returning in a few years!
Omg I love Jabali so! Im glad to hear there is a plan for his future. And maybe we will get to see him when he moves from his family eventually. Im sure still a few years away as Jabali is only about 16 months old at this time but awesome to know he will have a place to go in his future.
I know it’s very tough for male gorillas right now as I read somewhere it’s less common for females to be born to captive gorillas. 🦍♥️
Omg I would absolutely love to see him over here. So let's hope it is true. But for now just hoping he has a lovely childhood and time to grow up with mom and the rest of the fam .
