I wish someone that grew up in the 80's would do a tutorial. This girl did a good job from what she knows from the 80's, but it isn't accurate. I think the kids look at pictures of famous people back then, like Madonna and think that is what everyone looked like. I would like a tutorial on what the majority of teenagers dressed and looked like back then. Maybe I'll do one of my own? ha ha.
The colors are fairly accurate, the application isn't. I was in elementary/middle school in the 80's, so not (really) wearing make-up, but I feel like this is more of a modern (albeit really great) look with retro colors. Also, the hair--it needs a huge, lacy, floppy bow and then it may lean more toward 80's.
this suppose to be a 80s hair band girl look. The bow look is more debbie gibson. The hair is accurate. make colors are right but application is a bit of a miss. This is a vid that should be done by someone that was in highschool during this time. The look should be classified as a 86-89 look.
Katie Layton But the ones in movies are more fun. Im sure most of them didnt even wear make up. The colors and teased hair is what we know and love the 80s for. Not some kids walking down the street.
the casual looks were bland leftovers from other decadesher makeup is good but her hair looks like Phyllis Dyller after a WCW wrestling matchthat's not an 80's hair doo
The colours are on the mark. But the the way the makeup is done? Umm....no. I was a teen in the early 80's and I can't remember even one person that had purple eyelashes. Dark black mascara, yes. But never purple. And the eyeshadow was not applied that way. I was there, I remember.
This is more of an "80s magazine model" makeup and hair look than what we actually wore back then. The colors are correct and the big hair concept as well, but we really went to town on teased bangs and big earrings as well. Aqua Net was 50 cents a can, $1 for the large can, and you went through one large can a week on your hair. The side hair is right, but this look has no bangs. Also try curling or crimping and then teasing for a more authentic look. Again, this is more like what you saw on fashion magazine models than real women in the 80s.
Not quite 80's the hair needs to be teased more with loads of aquanet in the purple can, plus the women back then didn't use so much makeup all that is needed is lipstick, eye liner, mascara, eye shadow up to the brow bone, and maybe a little blush.
They used a hell of a lot of blush and colourful eyeshadow as well as bright or frosty lipstick! One of my favourite decades! I wish I lived through it, but sadly I was born to late :/
+ThePinkFloydPortal The only ones I remember, wearing that much eye shadow, other than the drastically insecure, were the ones in pop videos & stage acting. The hair on top was teased a fair bit higher. But there were a few who would have pushed it beyond limits, if they could have....
Man, too many negative people out there commenting, you try it, I think it looks great, it's very 80's and I was there!!!! It's just more dramatic but that's the point!!! Duh, don't be so bitchy, say something nice guys, loved it, and the music!!!!!xxx Carla , NZ
Indeed this is fairly liberal interpretation of the era. Mostly colour accurate. When creating this we were still working more with the channel concept rather than the actual makeup. But there will be more 80s and other era celebrations to come. And there was more than ONE haircut in the 80s hehe. Anyway, great feedback from everyone!
Agreed with the others this is more of a modern take on the 80s, your hair needed to be very curly and poofy and brows were kept a little thicker than that and less defined. You're gorgeous nonetheless :)
This makeup tutorial was lovely...as a tutorial from an 80's music video....but us real people, like a few have said, did not wear our makeup that way. Sure we liked pink blush and blue eyeshadow but I don't ever remember lining the tightline of my eye or lining above. I used a blue eyeliner inside the bottom waterline. We sure did have big silly hair though. A little more research needed on this one, but a good effort x
I was a teen in the 80's we had not much foundation, usually just a spot concealer and then we only used powder with a flat sponge, NO BRUSHES for anything just sponge applicators for eyes hadows. There was not much choice wise. We NEVER lined our eyes with brushes as they did not exist and it was normal to use thick soft black kohl liner on inner water line OR mainly every one wore AZURE BLUE, ELECTRIC BLUE eyeliner and Mascara with a pink no17 lipstick that was pinkish irresdecent blue. We also did not wear false lashes. We used a horrid gawdy thick stripe of either tan or pink powder right across the cheeks in a line for blusher, totally over done. We did not use highlighter, it did not exist..well not here in the UK unless you were a Drag Queen. I miss them days! lol x Oh and we back combed our hair everyday, permed it and cut the side like mens side burns, really hideos and used so much hairspray everyone choked in the girls room lol.
makeup is not of the age of the 80s, we do not use outlined cat eyes, either liquid eyeliner, false eyelashes either, but the mascara was colors like blue, purple or green
This is bordering on Dale Bozzio from Missing Persons, and she was definitely an exception to your average makeup/hair routine. The look in this video is fine if you're going to an 80's party "lol, the mobile phones were so big, am I right?!" but in terms of integrating it into your daily routine..... ehhhhhh. I stand by what some other commenters said, I'd like to see a video done by someone who actually put on makeup in the 80's as opposed to learning to walk.
I didn't grow up in the 80's but by the time I was 19 I was partying my ASS off at the old Club 35 in South Amboy, NJ and the Birch Hill Night Club in Old Bridge, NJ. That was the good old days. Dressed like Madonna in her Lucky Star video. Me and my friends dressed like that every weekend. That was the good old days. Plus met hubby back in 1987.
Nice, but it looks like I'd do this look to attend a concert of one of my favorite rock bands back then. My everyday junior high and high school look included lots of Aquanet to hold my high bangs (think Kelly Bundy) and of course I couldn't live without my fuschia lipstick! Also, at one point, I saved my money to get one of the coveted body wave perms which were popular as well.
The ways 80s make-up was done depended on what part of the 80s. Early 80s very heavy make-up especially eyeshadow, mid 80s oh the high hair came in but we used thick eyeliner, a lot of mascara and lipstick, eyeshadow yes but not a lot. Late 80s very similar to the mid 80s but most of stop using blush. This may sound crazy but believe it or not it depend on what part of the 80s.
Esta muy bonito, ese maquillaje es el que quiero aprender a ponerme, los colores fuertes y los colores pastel me encantan, gracias por subirlo, linda modelo.
Makeup was great but I think it would of looked more 80's if you had a tight slicked back bun with a sidepart. Your bangs still looked modern but other than that great!
Not accurate, no one did their makeup this way in the 80s, bold colors yes ( depend of the event most everyday makeup was in neutral colors) but applied differently, no one looked clownish like in this video
I'm 16 so I never experienced the 80s, but I sure do act like I did. I have the clothes, hair, i only listen to 80s music and no...not the stereotypical stuff, the real 80s stuff😎💖💎
Good effort but in the 80s the make up wasn’t as good quality and pigmented like these days. Most people used cheap stuff from the chemists. Well I did anyway.
Sorry, but this is not at all accurate. We didn't do the upper waterline, or use powder under the eye , the eyeshadoe was wrong and the blush was in a couple of colours. We definitely didn't wear false eyelashes as that was a old fashioned 1960s thing (and that was what our mothers used to do)
Aww, so much time on the makeup..but but you forgot the most important part of the look! The TOP! THE VOLUME! HOW HIGH you can get the hair???..not how WIDE.. LOL and ya need the curl.. Great effort though! It can be tough with no bangs.
I never wore makeup anything close to that in the 80z, not as a model, a school girl or ever. Mostly it was much more toned down. Colored mascara was a thing that cosmetic companies tried to push. No girl I knew ever bought a 2nd tube bc it was ugly. Early 80s was a bit like Instagram, minus heavy highlighter. Later 80s, matte and eartones were big on eyes, brows were heavy and lips were red. I graduated in 87 and mo one wore makeup. The bright pink lipstick waa a thing in the early 80s, but applied much more softly. And only girls with no sense of style wore blush that btmright and thick. Nice try, but missed nearly every mark.
ahhh, I little off there, funny what people think the 80's fashion was. Makeup not bad, but that hair. It was much more that just teasing it into a mess. If was teased into a style, not just mess, DUH
This is the kind of tutorial I like, short and simple, without all the chatting and show with products that take ages to watch!
We didn't wear it quite that heavy. This was more like the style of music videos.
I wish someone that grew up in the 80's would do a tutorial. This girl did a good job from what she knows from the 80's, but it isn't accurate. My mom went through aqua net hairspray a week

Awesome,love the 80's.
+ellimacs sfx makeup
Dude can't you just teased the bangs higher??
I am doing this for 80's day
Thank you so much

Right I was thinking the same ….we just had the basics👍
makeup is not of the age of the 80s, we do not use outlined cat eyes, either liquid eyeliner, false eyelashes either, but the mascara was colors like blue, purple or green
so awesome! that blush is poppin! definatly 80's inspired
This is so creative. I love the use of news pieces in the background amongst the electronic music. Very effective! Amazing! I subscribed and liked! 💯
Beautiful! I so miss the 80’s
Its so 80s love it!
That was also the right sound track for that makeup. Great.
all i see is Brittany from glee
I thought Ellie Goulding was the thumbnail lol
OMG ME TOO!!!
Me too!!
Tracy Hook SAME HAHAHAH
I was thinking the same thing!!
Now let's go to the mall...today!
Totally!
as a teen in the 80s, this is way over exaggerated
Thank you! I totally agree !
She wasn't going for the teen look, more like 20/30s bombshell at the nightclub
I actually do my make-up and hair while listening to synthwave. 🎶 💜 💄
This is “In the News” by Mitch Murder. 🎶
An extreme exaggeration of 80s fashion.
not the makeupthat's how some people wore itthe hair is not done properly
I agree
This music is epic, so is this video!
Honestly I thought it was Ellie Goulding from the thumbnail
Great job honey ive loved the 80s and it was a trip......lol .
This is bordering on Dale Bozzio from Missing Persons, and she was definitely an exception to your average makeup/hair routine. I love your videos but honestly your so pretty you really don't need makeup
i think this is not totally 1980s. it's more like an upgrade modern version.
You look sooo beautiful!!
That lipstick!!!
Being the total stoner chick graduating high school in 89, I can tell you that I never did my makeup like this.
Agree 👍
I know you did this a few years ago, but I just wanted to say its super cute. I am going to an 80's party and was looking for some inspo.
when she has no makeup on she looks like brittany from glee! love this
I don't know anyone who wore that much makeup nor did their hair like that in the 1980s.
I lived through the 80s and this definitely wasn't where I grew up. Thank God. This is like an overdramatic spoof.
Nice
Omg I love it!💜
I love it so much
I love 80s style.... eventhough i was born on 1991 but my soul love 1980s era.... haha
This is fab
Beautiful make up.

The hair needs more PUFF! on top.
Wow!
ELLI YOU DA BEST GIRL I LOVE U AND LIKED ALL THE VIDS. I LOVE U TOO MACS.

Oh, and my Poison perfume, which I still wear and adore to this day.
Yup, Christian Dior's Poison! I don't know if it's still for sale, but I still have a bottle of it. YSL's Opium is good, too.
Your eyebrows are soo pretty :)
Not the way we teased our hair though..lots of us had perms and then curled with curl iron then teased.

now i like this
The colors
You know you gonna like her. 🙂
I see a mixture of Ellie Goulding, Brittany Pierce from Glee and Jenna Marbles :3
Yes
wonderful! thanks!
Esta muy bonito, ese maquillaje es el que quiero aprender a ponerme, los colores fuertes y los colores pastel me encantan, gracias por subirlo, linda modelo.
when you do the make up for your eyes it looks extremely painful
beautiful ❤❤❤
Makeup was great but I think it would of looked more 80's if you had a tight slicked back bun with a sidepart. Your bangs still looked modern but other than that great!
it's throwback Thursday at my school an RN I'm doing this
I love it
Scrolled all the way down to the first video, holy CRUD
I love the lipstick and color whats the name
I wonder if she was even around in the 80s i was a small girl then
ok i know they wore alot of blush back then but thats alreadt in the clown range
marykacyy lmao I know right, she over did it on the blush
People wore that amount of blush in movies, I've seen it. I'm not sure if they wore it every day though.
I'd never used or saw anyone in actual life wear false eyelashes we all seem to use great lash but this is cool
Plus I give bonus points for knowing we'd used colored lashes
It’s good but more of a magazine look we didn’t wear it like that but still good
cuteee
So pretty! Eating a banana backwards? It looked like it was slowly growing...
Going back to the old fashioned way
Not accurate, no one did their makeup this way in the 80s, bold colors yes ( depend of the event most everyday makeup was in neutral colors) but applied differently, no one looked clownish like in this video

no daughter of mine is going out looking like that!!
Great video, what was the song used in the background?
Im doing this for halloween.

pretty girl
sorry. That's not 80's............that's just messy
Good effort but in the 80s the make up wasn’t as good quality and pigmented like these days. Most people used cheap stuff from the chemists. Well I did anyway.
I don’t recognize bronzer has been used in the 80s…..
woow!!!!!!!!!!!! beautiful..... 90´s please ;)
the make up is basically 90´s
Sorry, but this is not at all accurate. We didn't do the upper waterline, or use powder under the eye , the eyeshadoe was wrong and the blush was in a couple of colours. We definitely didn't wear false eyelashes as that was a old fashioned 1960s thing (and that was what our mothers used to do)
Do a 1990, please
+Kailee Lipsey Yeah we'll do a new 80s and a 90's maybe :)
the make-up is more 90´s than 80´s
How about 70s and 2010s
Aww, so much time on the makeup..but but you forgot the most important part of the look! The TOP! THE VOLUME! HOW HIGH you can get the hair???..not how WIDE.. LOL and ya need the curl.. Great effort though! It can be tough with no bangs.
hair is waaaaay off
not where i grew up
I dont remember liquid eyeliner in the 80s lol
Not 80s hair at all lol..
That's a 1980s hair at all, my opinion
POV: it’s homecoming week at school
Women were more beautiful than todays
You look like kesha.........also thats not really 80s
It looks like 80s to me 👍
I never wore makeup anything close to that in the 80z, not as a model, a school girl or ever.

ahhh, I little off there, funny what people think the 80's fashion was. Makeup not bad, but that hair. It was much more that just teasing it into a mess. If was teased into a style, not just mess, DUH
depends on where you lived where i grew up that was a style
💗💗💗💗
You nailed the blush & the lipstick, but not much else. Sorry.
