That was awesome Jack Nicholson was singing in the crowd
The musician’s that back him in this performance speaks volumes about him. Randy Newman was born in LA and only he could show both the love and Satire on the city in this anthem to his home town. This song is a masterpiece and Randy is a national treasure.
Not like his poor little mama, who didn't know a soul in LA.

Probably my favorite part is seeing Jack Nicholson in the audience singing along. That man has been a fixture in La for decades and is definitely loving La.

This song is a treasure. Even though LA is in shambles right now after the pandemic (I live in Orange County) I love this song and it gives me hope for LA. What a combo! Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, JOHN FOGERTY!!! All complete with a Nicolson cameo. Glad Randy is in the Hall of Fame, much deserved after his contributions to not only rock and roll, but film music in general.
I first heard the song in the naked gun but I just love how the Dodgers use it when winning a game. Just makes it so much better

Yeah that was cool that he showed up. I don’t know if he was just there for Randy Newman or if he was friends with someone else who was getting inducted but it was just so cool to see him there.
I believe he was there with his friend, Lou Adler, who was also inducted that year.

That guitar solo was awesome John Fogerty rocking out Well we got Jackson brown and Tom petty up there too I don't know who's on the lead guitar in that other background spot but yeah that was CC R's John Fogerty on that main solo and I don't know who's playing at league keyboard park has they got like 3 amazing keyboard players up there counting the man himself Randy Newman piano master!
Though I’m a huge Toto/Steve Lukather fan (and have always loved Steve’s guitar solo in this song) I have to admit that John Fogerty did a pretty nice job on the solo.
Yeah, really missed Steve being on stage here, but these 3 other songwriters are all amazing in their own right, guess there just wasn't room for all the great musicians who could have played with Randy here 🙂

that band had heartbreakers, letterman's band, wachtel -- and soooo many great musicians. it ROCKS and is full of great piano and horns, too. 2 grew up in l.a., petty's adopted hometown,,,not sure about john. makes you almost love l.a. - and i grew up there.
Not an induction thing, but that tribute to George Harrison with Petty, Dhani Harrison, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne, and Prince was amazing. There's probably few more people on stage that I don't recall. Prince freaking shreds it. Tom is my ultimate favorite. ❤ Miss him so very much. Especially touching because he was so very close to George.
Correction: it actually was George's posthumous solo induction into the RRHOF. I thought it was just a tribute. Jeff Lynne and Eric Clapton also do a sweet rendition of Give Me Love. ❤
