Joel is like the middle school kid with ADHD and Duda is the tutor trying to keep the lesson on track. Both are brilliant, it's just funny to see the dynamic!
1:00 Mau5 saying I set the limiter to 0.3 - god knows why. And Duda in his most un-patronising voice "Intersample peaking might be a reason" had me roll over :D
i mean if you think about it, it was a good try. i bought a 2015 razor blade stealth with a free fruity license. marketing to the bigger and bigger bedroom producer market made complete sense, especially with how these laptops are positioned spec and price wise.
I like how theres descriptions or “subtitles” below for Deadmau5’s language and Steve rephrasing it after for clear understanding or “confirmation” lol. Deadmau5 is a legend forsure, no one will ever be like him, or “his personality”.
If you don't want to use Engineer's filter or a similar filter that's ultra-high-pole, you can also actually stack 4-pole cutoff filters in EQ8. Keep in mind that each filter you drop on top of the last in this situation reduces the amplitude south of the frequency point by 24dB/octave. For the longest time I used a -64dB/octave arrangement but I think I'm shifting it now because I'm worried the aggression is doing something funny up the spectrum.
@0:57 :))) That was a question mark for me, also. Thanks to Steve Duda, and later to other sound engineers, I've learned about "inter-sample peak". People, don't forget about inter-sample peak! :)))
deadmau5 has threadripper. VST-plugins is no joke when it comes to prosessing power, but there are ways to make stuff like this happen on computers with way smaller CPU.
Is this vid from a larger session that I can find somewhere? I don't really listen to Deadmau5's music anymore, but I sure as hell can learn a lot from him and Duda, so I'd love to see more from these guys.
Deadmau5 interviews and production videos Rock.. I use a lot of Trilian and omnisphere and a lot of what Joel says reminds me of the workflow with those tools. Experimentation and sound layering can get you really exciting results.
"There's no such thing as magical master chain thats just gonna make everything sound way way more fatter and better" Yes there is. It's called OTT. (this is a joke)
@1:42 Deadmaus having an internal breakdown " Shut up Steve, I want them to think I know everything about everything, no one is gonna help me understand music production, it's all ME"!!
Deadmau5 - "I am the best and can do it better than everyone else" Razer - "Oh cool! Can you show us!?" Deadmau5 - "Well..........I mean....Steve could show you..."
Every time I see these guys together it makes me think of that Halloween show in LA years ago where Duda is wearing a mau5 head and starts playing Ghosts 'N Stuff and Joel sneaks up on him and "takes over." Classic.
if you have too much low end at the mastering stage, should you have cut it at the mix stage ? even if at the end you have to cut below 20hz on the mastering channel ?
so that EngineersFilter plug he talks about is only 32Bit? That sucks, no worky with Ableton 64Bit. What did he in the past to roll off 20hz... i seem to remember him using a Waves plugin. Can't remember which one, might have been the "Linear Phase EQ".
Probably because of the problem with DJ carnage and Deadmau5 making fun of him right on this video when he says something about the mastering chain that makes sound "way way more better" or smth :)
Producing with a friend is like that. Is one sided. Take turns on the daw and only interrupt when the elements are not well suited with the track and when too much editing is killing the original sound. Have a producer partner is awesome. Sharing samples and sounds is pure love.

It's always interesting coming back to this video every couple of months and seeing the new little things I begin to understand.
Of course razer took this down lol. I can’t get enough of deadmau5’s personality, I love how he is in this video haha. Thanks for the re-upload bro
why did they take it down?
Some sly sarcasm and swearing maybe?
lol he's just being Joel. His personality and general straight forwardness is great in my opinion :)
Remember kids Deadmou5 doesn't give a F*3K & YOU shouldn't either lol.
It was taken down because of Joel's feud with Carnage apparently... he was also doing this for razer too
"Serum you say?" 🤣
saw Vital, downloaded, is now in relationship with it
I get the vibe that neither wanted to do this but one was still taking it seriously.
I think both wanted to do it, but Joel felt embarassed and like a sell out cliche or whatever. He's genuinely sharing though, and his tips are great.
not every people are super whoopie shiny, mate
some people are just more serious, introverted
that might be the case for both of them
1:00 Mau5 saying I set the limiter to 0.3 - god knows why.

Like Joel got super schooled right there it was funny seeing Joel getting educated like that.
@Alex Soto Tbf, the fact it's there implies he knew. Just didn't say it for reasons unbeknownst to me.
@@urphakeandgey6308 the intersample peaking inside of him might be a reason
Probably -0.3
This is amazing. I almost can't believe this was a real thing Razer tried to do.
i mean if you think about it, it was a good try. i bought a 2015 razor blade stealth with a free fruity license. marketing to the bigger and bigger bedroom producer market made complete sense, especially with how these laptops are positioned spec and price wise.
10:40 sounds so amazing
"The deadmau5 pluck, essentially, is a saw wave with a filter on it."
The bluntness killed me.
when he routed it to the analogue and started opening the filter.. it pleased my ears so much

duda talks without moving his mouth
I was thinking behind someone is speaking off camera 😂🤣
Yeah, thought the audio went way out of sync there for a while...
Damn dude. I wish you wouldn't have mentioned that. WTF I can't take my eyes off it now.
He's the 'no-moving-talker guy' but with that I'm going back in to screen-saver mode because I don;t know how I feel right now.
@YoStefan Made me crack dude! LOL
My fav part is when joel is just so done with steve explaining to him what compressors are.. starting at 1:13
Exactly the same here 😀that face of deadmau5'.
I mean, Steve is doing it for the viewers, not for Deadmau5. LOL
It's for the people who don't know, not for him. I know people pointed that out a long time ago but come on.
You read that completely wrong mate. Joel has a lot of respect for Steve in case you can't tell.
These dudes are true masters of the craft
I like how he uses the xfer plugin for ott instead of the ott in ableton

xD the reason why they removed this video is cause Joel was giving them good feedbacks in which Razor saw this as a roast towards their shitty laptop.

Assign an envelope to the cutoff filter to get the flutter low pass decay effect. Got it.

I cut at 30 Hz with like 48db/octave, as long as there aren't any bass note fundamentals trying to occupy that region
