tip on heating the fork lug... keep it out of the vice till it's hot, then put it in the vice to turn it.
why? because a lot of the heat is going into the vice making it take longer to heat up. out of the vice the heat will be more uniform, allowing the lug to expand more.
I have the Dal Soggios on my 19' 450 ktm sx. Had them on for probably three yrs now. Have the MX valving since I race 100% mx. Compared to the KYB's on my 21' 125 Yamaha they are plusher on the braking bumps but feel similar in other areas. Bought them from Stillwell and they set them up for me and got them dialed in really nice.
Super cool that you are loaning out the 6500’s. You sir are a class act!
Man i wish i were close to you guys. Love what youre doing man.
fark i love watching another professional work.
Thumbs up for the Spinal Tap reference.
❤️
I cant wait for the ride update!
Blue wrench! That's great!
I also can’t wait to see what’s up with the new cone valve, 7500 series kits for the 2024 forks.
Yeah. They are going to be good.
I have friends that run them and have heard nothing but good things so far, it will be interesting to hear how they work for you in the mixed terrain in your region.
I love spinal tap lol.
Super cool, can’t wait to see how they perform for you🤟
That looks like a sweet setup
This is awesome! Great video. Would love to try the 6500s! I live all the way up in Washington tho.
Interested to hear your thoughts!
Just got mine back from Bill @ C Cycle in Conn. he told me to leave them in the middle settings for ten hrs. before making any adjustments. He also said the guy that designed them worked for KTM but wasn't happy w/t KTM/WP dragging out new advancements so he jumped ship.
I rode them last night. Spoiler alert: they are very good
I have the del-saggio's sphere's in my 23 TPI. Amazing fork and so tunable. I had Kevin at Stillwell Performance set mine up and I couldn't be happier. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts.
I have a temperature gun and would be neat to see the yield temperature it took to break the lug loose.
Very cool!
those look nice
I have a 13 300xc (need to sell it), but I have the old "bladder forks". I loved them and actually thought about parting the bike out and taking those forks and putting them on the gas gas. This looks a lot like those, but without the preload adjustment. They are actually already sprung for me.... still a thought with the part out, but I don't know if I want to deal with parting them out, but not sure they'd go well with the AER on them. I will say, I do actually like the AER.... on of the few who don't just say "trash them". I think the work fairly well, but you have to understand the air acts as the fork and is only there to hold your weight. I've seen folks just use the pressure to soften them. If you do that its just settings really high in the stroke and using the stiff "harsh" high speed stuff. The proceeds from the sale of that bike will likely be going to fund the "cool guy" set up of the gas gas.. so yeah. Watching this for sure with interest. I don't think I've read where anyone with these who has said they didn't like it.
They are amazing. First ride vid coming soon.
the dal saggio cartridges are damn near the exact same system as the bladder forks you have with different valving/valves, its been proposed that they were just the ones manufacturing the old wp cartridges all along and started making them when they went to air and just put some anodized parts in to make it look different but even the location of the pressure release/bleed in the top of the cartridge looks exactly the same, you can just put the bladder cartridges into the aer lugs and run them 400 vs 1500 dollars
@@lukekelly5115 I ran the wheels from the 13 on the 22 for a while. I'd just swap out the whole the fork and either sell the old 300 with them or part it and sell the AER out right. Just have to use the spacers from the 13 with the fork.
@@lukekelly5115 if you have them. I don’t
You didn’t get the round flat disk clicker changer with your 6500 kit . It looks like a flat round dial easy to change clicker with handlebars on .
I did but I hate carrying a special tool to adjust something like a clicker.
cook that oring, lol, blue wrench's love it!!!
New o rings installed
:) I toasted my orings, glad new ones were included, I used too much blue wrench!!
On a 19 ktm 350xc, came apart easy with 225 deg F, on a 2013 ktm 450xcw, they used different sealer, took almost 400 deg F. You made it look easy, thanks for the video!!!
Can't wait for more sphere content, and to hear about TBT's valving.
Sorry bro you got me. I got to 11 and had to stop and watch spinal tap
that's basically the wp cc bladder forks in a glorified package
Yep. And it works like one.
I had this kit installed in my 17 300xc aer forks by Stillwell performance out of Arizona they are great.. I have a question tho if I was to buy a say 23 tbi or newer could I swap those whole forks and the geometry be correct for that bike from the 17 to the 23 or if I couldn’t are the internals swappable and just put back the old aer stuff in the 17?
You can swap the whole thing.
Did you put grease on the seals? You don’t have to use a 488 mm spring the reason being is there’s infinite adjustability on the cartridge.
You can use either of the 485, the 470 or even the 465 length Spring ✌️☝️ my opinion is this Cartridges superior to the 6500👍
True about the spring. I just looked at their spec and that was one of the lengths they listed and mine was already that. They list lots of other lengths too.
No grease on seals. I do sometimes. But there was enough residual oil on tubes that I didn’t need to. I didn’t super clean them since it was only a little bit ago that I serviced these forks.
Does the nut you installed that houses the rebound adjustment hang below your lug?
Not any more than normal. It’s not recessed up in there.
Ahah Morgan next time i take my Beta at your shop I teach you how to pronounce Dal Soggio 😂
