- In the 1960's, tragic events took place in Point Pleasant on the coast of Ohio, West Virginia, when a huge bird with red eyes hounded the town. The bird hasn't been seen for 45 years and remains to be one of America's biggest mysteries. Was it some sort of supernatural wonder or just rumours?

I started watching the "Boogeymen" series, just because of the Mothman episode, which is the creepiest so far. I've also watched "The Mothman Prophecies" but I don't remember men in black, ufo's and the military making an appearance. I really liked the male skeptic's point of view - he didn't instantly revoke the existence of one such entity like most skeptics in the series so far. Thanks for the video!
He is the least skeptical skeptic I've ever seen.
i’ve heard from numerous people that WV had the kindest residents in the world. truly good people.
Foof y I was born and raised in WV and still reside here today. I’ve been all over the United States and WV will definitely always be the place I call home. Full of some of the hardest working and kindest people around. ❤️❤️
I hope you're right, I'm moving there in January.
I don't like just anyone, but the West Virginians I know are awesome.
Foof y I’m from Point Pleasant, born and raised. Lived a few other places and none compares to here. WV mountains and people are like no other 😊
@@MyAshley1984 Were you around for the Moth Man sightings?
Most monsters come in human form.
The bridge collapse happened December 15, 1967. My Dad died on December 18, 1967 and I was born on December 19, 1967. Busy month. My mom talked about the Mothman, but wasn't sure whether it was real or not.
Are you from Point Pleasant?
Ok 👍 Boomer
It wasn’t.
@@darcylkc No. I'm from Princeton, WVA
@@elizabethwilson1540 Do you remember anything else your mom used to say about the Mothman? I’m sorry to hear your dad passed away right before you were born. It had to be very difficult for your mom. 🥺
Jeepers Creepers where did you get those peepers.. Jeepers Creepers where did you get those eyes…
What they have not mentioned is that this strange entity has been seen before disasters all over the world for hundreds of years and it’s been documented. If you do some digging you can find the information for yourself about this entity.
A wery similar creature lives in Cornwall UK. It is called the Owlman. Check it up
Not true at all about their cornstalk,he was the chief of the Shawnee tribe,I am of Shawnee descent,we went to our Allie tribes(our brothers from other tribes) Iroquois and Cherokee to be exact and got them on our side and we took the first settlers to war,and when they met to make a peace treaty the pilgrims killed chief cornstalk and his son, murdered them, and yes he did curse the pilgrims their descendents and "their" land
I watched another documentary that had really good evidence about mothman being a Thunderbird sighting (another cryptid). Thunderbird is supposed to be a man-sized bird with red glowing eyes. I find a rare giant bird to be semi-believable, and believe a lot of the American native cryptid stories to be interesting. "The thunderbird is said to create thunder by flapping its wings and lightning by flashing its eyes".
There's also one called the "snallygaster" yeah weird name,I know lol but it supposedly terrorized a small town in MD awhile back. And MD isn't too far from WV. They border each other. This was a large bird like creature too.. look it up.
@@shastaleann8871 The Snallygaster reportedly killed a person too.
Just like a skeptic to explain the unexplained by everybody was hallucinating.
honestly it was probably a big bird tho lol
Don't You Just HATE When That Happens?? Sheesh
The Skeptic really likes to hear himself talking. What a jackass.
Just like an American to see a mothman
@@bronxcheer1484 only thousands of accounts, but everyone is lying I’m sure. Point Pleasant is a myth.
We really don't know what's out there, this is not surprising to me...The world can be a scary place sometimes.....
"We have a history, and a mystery." Nice quote, well said.
They never mentioned the guy who was arrested after the bridge disaster.
?
One of the best legends
Window areas is referring to Lay Lines Stone Henge is one for example. Also ever realize when a large group of people all say they say something unexplainable it just gets listed under mass hysteria instead of actually taken seriously since there are so many eyewitness accounts
Mothmen's lives matter! Never hurt no one.
Using lines from Nero Wolfe Mysteries music?
Double negative.. slap your teacher for being a failure

I have read the 📚 book written by John keel. I 've never been to west Virginia before or even point pleasant. Maybe I should go there and ✔ check it out. Just go there as a tourist.
Hello from Hurdland , MO .Very good video , just made my bucket list ,of place to go , love the movie , The Mothman Prophecies . 11/30/19, 6:47 pm
The Mothman Festival is this month.
There are so many, which I call "nutbars" out there. We'll never know what might be plausible. Mothman is still a great story even if it didn't happen.
I think the best nutbar of all is a Snickers bar.
BRING BACK MONSTERQUEST!!
Jeepers creepers ?
Did'nt Know Sammy Haggar owned the Mothman Museum
The 80’s called and they want him to cut his freaking hair!
Looks more like 1980s Bruce Dickinson, minus the spandex, or even like Dave Murray from the same era > 14:22
People have witnessed so many things that can't be explained.
Are this guys even get closer to the moth to examine its nose and tooth 😂😂😂
Mansoor Mannix, Yes for sure. The moth man even said he's Bigfoot and Werewolf's cousin.😁😁😁😁😁😁The moth man said he has 3 werewolf grandchildren and 2 bigfoot grandchildren 😭😭😭😭😭😁😁😁😁😁😂😂
I can see from syntax of your comment you didn't get very close to a school.
Wind is howling outside, best effects ever 😱
john denver didn't write that song, it's a common misconception. it was written by bill danoff & mentions "blue ridge mountains/shenandoah river" both which are located in the state of VA not WV.
You are so very correct. Thank you.
Both the Shenandoah River as well as the Blue Ridge Mountains are certainly in West Virginia...
@@SkiffoniusDankour The Shenandoah river and the Blue ridge mountains both run through West Virginia.
Although it is true that someone else wrote the song that was made famous by John Denver.
@@SkiffoniusDankour Laurel and Hardy sang about it.
The Mothman is a real DEMON.
It's not pronounced "can-a-waa- it's the "kha-naw-ahh" river. Lol
Goof video about Mothman and Point Pleasant. I hope to get to go visit there someday and take in the festival. It looks like fun and visit the Mothman Museum. 😎
I think I'm seeing and hearing Greg Jenkins, PhD. due to an hallucinogenic effect.
Had the pleasure of meeting the Mothman in 2016. Unfortunately He's gotten a bad rap. ALSO definitely NOT The ONLY "unusual" otherworldly Resident in the Village. The 3 days we visited only the locals were there. "The Mothman: Paladin of Pt. Pleasant" by BME Chaney, author, is one chapter included in the book chronicling some of our many encounters - WE never seek to disturb the Unseen; they seek us out. We are respectful, but also always travel under protection as not all Entities have the best intention. Our sojourns always lead to locations within areas emitting strong electromagnetic energy, those places wherein alternate Realms intersect with our 3 Dimensional World. "Platinum Coast Paranormal Investigations, Inc ~ Across Ley Lines" (c) Video evidence captured by PCPI "psychographers", those who are able/permitted to photograph ("audiographers") recording sounds/communication with that which is for most, invisible, etc. :) NO special "equipment required. It hasn't really changed Pt. Pleasant, except for when people come only to party, forgetting that this beautiful place is Home to the people who live there. But for the troublemakers, Instant Karma often manifests in less than "pleasant" ways! For most of the Year this perfectly preserved Village's aura is that of Time suspended in Amber. There was a reason George Washington was there in 1770, and standing at the confluence of the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers, stated "What a Pleasant Point", thereby naming the village. ;)
thanks for this! i wanna visit pp
I have visited twice, very quiet town. Eerie looking from the highway south of the river. There are a couple of bridges crossing the river there as well, and the Mothman Museum.
Going to visit point pleasant tomorrow wahoo another thing off my bucket list mothman Is real
This is why people in West Virginia all wear worn out clothes with holes in them. The Mothman ate their clothes.
can't believe no one's replied to this, this was hilarious. My mammaw was from Tennessee and she had her little trailer REEKING of mothballs in everything, so our W Virginian neighbors really should get back to their southern, mothball-encrusted roots to solve this paranormal problem.
Great comment Jake, take care mate
Not funny JAKE
@@wren7195 GROW UP.. MATE.
@@joeydog999 Hi John, you ok? It's nice to meet you
very underrated comment:)
I think they need to return Cornstalk’s body to his native family. Not saying it’s related fir sure….but it might be. Plus it’s the right thing to do.
I love how they always end this series with the Chamber of Commerce ($) pitch. :) Buyer beware. And there is a large bird that does fit the descriptions of the original 'big bird' that people claimed to have seen--and not one person mentioned it--the sandhill crane.
Do Sandhills fly at night ? We have some that hang around , I have Pics and you can hear them . But I can’t get close , they fly away .
Pretty soon all of these Cryptic R gonna disappear. If they don’t stop building houses n gas station ext 😢
Cool to see the town capitalize on their claim to fame, myself, i live in Dogman country lol.
I get the impression that the Mothman may have found us curious. Hearing some of the stories, it kinda seems like he may have been playful & wanted to show off his skills. I kinda hope he’s real. I wonder if he was created by the military. Maybe they were testing biological warfare or something and created the Mothman? Hopefully they let him live.
got any updates on dogman?
Am I the only one who gets Fortean TV' vibes from this show?
If only this could have been narrated by Lionel Fanthorpe.... :)
Who is the moth man.. I'm going to look for it
Clown 🤣 , or joke 😺 name 📛 for azrael on clown 😅 planet definitely 😄 wouldn't go after him especially during evening ✨ times, 😜 or sunset 😉 times creature 👽 of the night 🌉 who might be eliminated by him in spiritual form unknowingly...
The silversurfer with wings and red glowing eyes
An American Indian Curse sounds Right
Looked like a helicopter?...wouldn’t ask that person again...interesting documentary though!
looool
There are always people hovering around with comments like that
Look up a harpy Eagle. I think we have solved the what was the Mothman question.
That's one creepy looking bird. At night especially, the face would look to have very human features.
Not even close to being a strong answer
Harpy eagles aren’t big enough. And they dwell in rainforests. How many rainforest environments are found in West Virginia?
Not the best doco I have watched not the worst....John Keels book is fascinating
Was a good story but the last 15 min was a commercial
For what Stacie Herndon?
The sceptic with the idea that it's all due some sort of chemically-induced hallucination seems quite reasonable - this made much more likely by the near vicinity of a military munitions area and the military's apparent edginess throughout this episode.
(Were munitions all they kept in stock there?)
To side-step into the realm of conspiracy theory - could the military possibly be testing a neurological spray on a local population? Don't forget eyes were inflamed right? That screams 'side effects.'
Under the effects of a hallucinatory drug - what might the illuminated rear lights of an ordinary car look like to a driver following behind? Glowing red eyes.
Point Pleasant, Roswell, see the connection.
A Spirit Entity?
Yes 🤚!
they know exactly the size of the "creature" lol
That skeptic spoils this doco, and he's interviewed too much !!
City of Point Pleasant, 4,112 inhabitants 😁😁😁😁😁😁o the city does not do to attract tourists. Nothing against those who believe. Tourists fill the city hall coffers and hotels, restaurants, bars, make a lot of money, right.
Madness
Baggy Trousers.
Plot twist: Greg Jenkins is found to be Mothman!
My family lived 40 miles away, on the Ohio side of the river. There were sittings, even on the Ohio side of the river. I think whole thing was supernatural. Probably had to do with ther curse made on the white sellers. There even Bigfoot sittings there, at that time.
seems as if the mothman could have been some type of mutated pterodactyl.
The residents of Point Pleasant think the whole thing is hilarious.
We need Burt Gummer for the Cryptids
I want to give Moth Man a hug 😊
Me too 😄 sister 💖!
Nope. ❤😂
Me too..but im in sweden..dont have arms long enough
It's HIM! He's the Mothman at 17:35 ! With the green shirt! xD
To be honest he looks like he’s trying to shift the suspicion off him.
There were Martin.
These skeptics are so damn arrogant .They know it all you see, and the rest of the witnesses are just mistaken in some way. Just the tricky human mind at work in people of a lesser education you see. Funny you never see any of them staying in Known paranormal spots, like say a haunted old prison or Hospital overnight.
Or graveyards at night.
Mothman is just a cheap imitation of the Jersey Devil
Now I do believe these sightings of the Mothman are real, no doubt but I'm wondering why local law enforcement didn't approach these " men in black" being they were strangers come to town just hanging around and coming up to peoples homes, WHY were they not confronted and found out who in the hell they were? That would sure be done in these small towns today. Strangers show up, looking out of place and acting weird of yes law enforcement will be upon it. Seems very odd.
Eagle Owl....or harpy eagle
i believe how was it so many people seen it and not to be true, it will oneday come back and then everynody will believe
miss mothman i think was the scariest cryptoid in this video
As opposed to Mr Mothman?
Guy sounds like Andy McBride
1:39 IT'S RIGHT BEHIND HER!!!!!!
It’s a bird.
Harpy eagle
Mothman was someones good idea to put the town on the map and make money!
The important point is at the end, thousands of people from all over the world now come to the town, Money talks!
Then why is the mothman still being spotted in other states? To get them "on the map" also? Like Bigfoot?
"Money talks. It can't sing and it can't walk..."
Even if it is was just for money, have you seen the roads? Town needs money lol. However, they have even spotted the Mothman over seas so who knows 🤷🏻♀️
♥️♥️😱
Pronounced Ka-Naw-Uh
Not Can-A-Wah
Pretty lacklustre documentary. The last 20 minutes or so felt like a sales/tourist pitch from the mayor of Point Pleasant, showing off all the local attractions, festivals and merchandise. Come on down!
Bird of prey
Bad background music choice
Yea, I cannot take it seriously bcos of that.
Sounds like something they wouldn't even use in "Harry Potter."
The music for this video was a terrible choice. Boo to whoever chose it. Boo I say! Lol.
Moth man my hind leg.... more like W.Va. Skunk weed.
wanted to watch this but the music is distracting
With a name such as that you cast judgment?!
