  • In this video I will be showing you everything you need to know to properly inspect your steering system components for wear or play. Your outer/inner tie rods, power steering rack, steering shaft universal joints, idler arm, and pitman arm joints will eventually wear out and start to develop looseness which can cause a joint to fail. When this happens, your vehicle can swerve into the ditch or oncoming traffic and nobody wants that. Are you able to tell if you have worn steering components? If not, this video will help you with what the components are and how to inspect them so you can do the repair before you have an accident.
This is important gearhead stuff to know!
This is another episode of a new series on how to become a GEARHEAD! If you have ever wondered how people know so much about cars and are absolutely crazy about anything with a motor, then this is a great series for you. This is geared towards people that have no knowledge of cars but want to learn; however, the content in my videos does try to make solid connections between theory and practical applications so even seasoned gearheads will find the info useful. Tired of paying other people money to fix your car? Then ya gotta learn this stuff!

I'm just a regular guy and with all of these diagrams and explanations. This is the best videos I've seen, for diagnostics and repair.

Don't kid yourself, new electric steering is drive by wire with your inputs ( steering wheel encoder) being sent to a computer which sends outputs to the steering rack electric motor. On some cars with lane departure warning, the computer will put feedback into the steering wheel to warn the driver that there is a vehicle in the lane they are attempting to turn into.....car DOF. Thanks for the watch! Lot's of vpin stuff to come too....cheers!
