When Thomas Edison tried and failed nearly 2,000 times to develop the carbonized cotton-thread filament for the incandescent light bulb. And when asked about it, he said "I didn't fail; I found out 2,000 ways how not to make a light bulb," but he only needed one way to make it work.

Chris you inspired me to start cardistry! I recently went through ACL surgery and to keep my self busy for weeks of being in bed I thought of doing magic tricks. Went on UA-cam and the first card video I saw was yours and you really inspired me to pick up the cards. Your videos are so entertaining and fun to watch because of your personality, I really love it. Now I'm hooked to my cards 24/7. I barely use my phone now, my mom used to yell at me saying stop using your phone and now it's stop using your cards lol. Thank you again for introducing me to my new love and passion and please never stop making videos it really makes me happy and want to learn more. Thank you again. Lots of love and God bless.

One thing that seems to really help mean clean up moves is to step away for a while and come back fresh. A small break can really makes a difference. Also for some reason switching up the deck seems to change the mechanics a bit. Each of my decks act a little different. Could just be phycological, but I thought I would share.

How to start cardistry: open up School of Cardistrys youtube channel and start from their first video "grips". Then progress forward. The most important tips i have for beginner cardists:
    1. Only focus on the moves you actually like. Otherwise you'll end up wasting your time.
    2. Find a community. If you dont have cardist friends irl head over to reddit or discord, the community is the most important thing about cardistry. Without the community, I would've quit over a year ago.

I watched your top 5 favorite decks of 2017 video just a few months ago. It was suck an intriguing video and you did a fantastic job on describing the cards. It was almost like I could feel what you were felling on each deck. So I bought a couple of your favorite and have learned a lot. I now have all your favorite decks except the smoke and mirrors private reserve and the Dan and Dave private reserve. I never thought in a million years I would be playin with cards like I do. You have gotten me through a lot and you just don’t know it. Peace!

Thanks Chris, like a lot of things, especially on youtube, half of making it look easy is not showing the part where it was really hard. One thing I found that helps me with problem moves is to make the moves very slowly at first, even using your other hand to help stabilize (in a one-handed cut) and to put the cards where they should be and you can then figure out where the cutting hand needs to be and why you keep dropping them. For me, it's usually a matter of where on the fingertip the corner/edge is. A 1/4 inch can be a big difference.
Anyway, I started watching your videos to learn some magic tricks to do for my kids and such, but was always fascinated by cardistry, but mostly just to watch. Now the kids harass me for carrying cards everywhere because I also watched your cardistry vids and started wanting to learn more. Lastly, I have your Memento Mori cards and they are simply the best for fanning of all the cards I've used, just so smooth easy to distribute evenly. I hope you make more and do some that are all Ramsey, but closer to traditional card design - think Unchained or DB's Lions series, etc. Thanks again!

Tip: finger exercises help you really get better helped me too. Tell me what cut you want me to learn .( I'm into spinny things and comfy things)

I started cardistry when I saw you the first time. I got here from the german UA-camr MrTriXXL, and the first video I ever saw from you was the reverse waterfall tutorial. Since then I started practising, I dropped cards, I picked them up and started again. I'm still pretty terrible at cardistry but I keep doing it. I am actually filming a cardistry Video for my Instagram. So thank you Chris for being my inspiration.

right on man i still have a bunch and it is actually not a bad concept for a game, but the biggest downfall is you need a little space to play so that thing are not interfering with other people. If i knew someone that would play id still play with the commons or duplicates but i love the art on them you cant find old artwork from that era very often that is intriguing except old magic cards but i new got into that unfortunately i guess lol

Hey chris just wanted to extend my thanks to you sir for these videos and your positive attitude aswell. Now i know this will sound cheesy but you indirectly motivated me to grab the decks once again. Fell in love instantly with cardistry and already doing one handed cuts and beginner flourishes. Im back at it again and also bought a killer bee deck. As soon as they arrive im more than certain that will motivate me even more. Thanks for your content, tutorials and reviews, keep it up.

Great tips and he's right. Especially when it comes to smaller hands. I my self have small hands and I thought the same as most ppl. But with the time and practice you can do it it's all about muscle memory and coordination.

First thing I learned was the Sybil cut and Ben Wade. Boy it felt good when I could do it smoothly for the first time!

I'm a guitarist, and i think every student I've ever taught has expressed concern that their hands arn't he right size/shape, it doesn't really matter much. I can also confirm the benefits of mental practice. I've been recovering from surgery for the last few weeks and practising music, mentally a few hours every day, and the results are kind of crazy.

Great vid Chris. Came across your tutorials by accident a few weeks ago (I was actually just looking for a “cool” deck of cards for Poker XD), and never knew anything about cardistry. But seeing you use something that to me at the time seemed so ordinary (playing cards) and transform it into a visually stunning artform really roused my interest. First deck i bought was the Memento Moris (they were just beautiful) and immediately got to practicing some moves. Currently have 4 in my collection and looking at getting the Knights next (Bicycles are actually pretty expensive where I come from. Figured i might as well get decks I really liked XD) Can’t wait for 1st’s release! Thank you for the inspiration!
PS: Showed some moves to my gf and actually got her into cardistry now too. Now I’m buying decks for 2. So thanks for that :p

Practicing over the bed is the best tool I’ve been using. Because you don’t have to keep bending all the way down to pick up the cards every time you Drop a few. If they fall you can just pick them up where you stand. You might have to bend A little bit. But, it takes a lot of the frustration away.

I've only been practicing cardistry for a few months but can say that you are bang on, Chris. I've been an average to above average musician on multiple instruments since I was a kid in the late 70's (oy gevalt am I old) and the principles are the same. You have to retrain your hands to work and move in what feel to be unnatural ways. The first few months are pure hell at times :). But once you get your first flourish, lame and simple as it may be it's like the first time you play a simple but great song. I'm only about 60% successful doing a four packet Sybil but it feels like the first time I was able to play "Yesterday" without fucking up.

I’m thankful that I had come across some of your earlier cardistry videos. So thank you. As a result you’ve inspired me back into magic. One of the earlier books on mental practice or the mind theatre for training came from a plastic surgeon Maxwell Maltz Psyco-Cybernetics.

I've been following you off and on now for a couple months and think you do a great job not only as a teacher (is that the correct word?) but basically a cheerleader. "IF you are not enjoying it then move on to something else for a while" Easily one of the top 20 tips is to be sitting thus picking up the cards is much easier. IMHO tip 1 thru 10 is practice. Thanks for all your help and only a matter of time until you have your own special. Keep plugging dawg, I believe you are closer to the "Big Time" than you imagine. PEACE OUT
I had to come back for an edit when I just noticed of right now 21 ignorant "sons-of-bitches" had given this a thumbs down. WTF. Wish I could apologize for humanity's stupidity but...
