So I finally got these with average-sized woman hands, and here are some of my tips: - For Charlier, if you don't have enough palm-finger separation to keep your thumb on the top packet, when you push the cards back with your index finger, also slightly angle the top packet down against your middle and ring fingers. This allows the top packet to balance between those fingers and the bottom packet so when your thumb does lose contact with the top packet, the cards are stable enough to complete the cut. - For Rotation, instead of using your ring finger to push in the bottom packet towards you and wedging your finger between the packets, completely forget about moving the bottom packet. Instead, when you transfer the packet to your pointer and thumb, go ahead and push the packet away from you with your thumb and bring your ring around/below the top packet so that it's against the short side of the bottom packet and somewhere along the bottom of the top packet. Release your thumb, completing the top packet rotation with your pointer and ring. You might need to bring your thumb back towards you to move the bottom packet enough so that you can deposit the old top behind it. This is basically doing what he's doing in the video except you're doing part of the rotation with your thumb and pointer since your hands aren't big enough to be able to wedge your ring finger between the two packets and be able to complete the move with any fluidity. - And then there's Scissor lol. Instead of doing that really cool run your thumb alongside the deck to lift the top packet, I just immediately move my thumb to the short side of the deck and draw half the cards in a completely horizontal motion. It's not as flashy, but my thumb just isn't long enough to get good leverage on a separated pack of cards like that. And then you're just going to have to work on flexibility to do the rest of the cut lol. It's possible though!
i can say with confidence i can now pull off all the splits in this video, its been almost 3 days and if i with zero hand i cordination can pull them off then anyone can pull them off. my hands r decent size, nothing like this mans massive hands but not all that smol. I slip up every now and then especcialy on the second one, the revolution, but i am getting the hang of pulling them off without thinking too much about them. and if i get frustrated i default to the first one which im actually surprisingly enough really good at pulling off if anyones having trouble, then i suggest focusing for a little bit while watching videos and if your hand starts to cramp or your in a losing streak where you keep failing then take a break, or go to bed and when you wake up or pick up those cards again i garntee you would have leveled up Its exactly like how in ff15 you gain experience throughout the day but only level up after you have rested or slept
not a problem.... just buy bicycle bridge size playing card... same as the cost of regular one but little bit smaller.... check on UA-cam for more info
this is also the first one i learned, however i do it slightly different. it could be because i have short fingers, or they are not long enough ;) @ 3:18 when the cards are slightly catty corner in the middle, the way i do it is the cards near the thumb completely clear the cards above and the above cards fall due to gravity. it's just a variation or possibly even what will naturally happen ifyou follow vid posters instructions and having practiced for some time. i have been playing with cards since a kid though and one handed deck cutting for some reason came naturally to me. i do it both ways. this way and also the way where you grab the upper part of the deck between forefinger and middle finger and manipulate the upper set of cards, spinning them a little bit underneath the lower set of cards. these video's randomly came up for me today and i'm kind of glad it did. after watching a few video's i said to myself, i have a couple decks of cards in good condition and started cutting one handed to make sure i can still do it. i am 53 now lol.
started practising cardistry with my daughter this weekend. We did the rifle shuffle with bridge finish for 2 days straight and now feel confident to practising the next step, which is the cartier cut. Awesome tutorial here, thank you!
For those struggling with the revolution cut: do what he does, not what he says. The index finger should NOT go right up to the corner. If you watch around 9:45, he places his index finger about a third of the way down the side of the top packet, maybe even lower. I struggled with little success for a good half hour until I tried positioning the index lower and got it almost immediately.
I also have small hands. Wasn't able to do the charlier cut but after trying the scissor cut, which was the only one I could complete, I was able to complete the charlier cut. Thanks!
Amazing Video! These cuts were simple enough to for me to get and cool enough to keep me entertained while learning. Charlier cut: 1:07 Revolution cut: 4:47 Scissor cut: 10:07
I hate my small hands!!!!! they're making it almost impossible for me to do the Charlier cut, I'm so close to just yeeting my deck across my room and I can't understand why its so difficult
Since I don't go outside during the summer I'm gonna practice this. My hands aren't that small but my fingers are short and dummy thick 🙁 Buy everyone here saying that the size doesn't matter are giving me hope! I won't give up! I've only gotten to the first cut but I thank you for a good easy to understand tutorial. Thank you! 😁
I like the opening how you tell your truth if cutting cards whole doing college work. I watched your video at work while at a university (I work there and go to school there). I'll be cutting cards while doing school work as well soon thanks to you haha
I as well. I took it to another level and cut decks with both hands separately using 2 decks of cards while I walk around campus. I'm currently working on doing the spin revolution cut this way. Then I'll do it all on a lime scooter and show some real mastery.
Thanks for sharing Grant. My issue is with the scissor cut and the rev cut, small hands and all. However, I've modified the rev cut by rotating the bottom packet rather than the top. I'm still working with the scissor. Thanks again!
@@connorchen630 okay but everyone is different dude, one way might not work for another. Yes practice always helps but being double jointed helps a lot in this type of stuff too, same with flexibility in your hands. Also an iPhone 8 is pretty big like double the size of a 5 and you’ve been at it for 3 months so I’d hope you’d have at least a few of these down by then. Why not offer a suggest rather than brag about yourself and making others feel like a failure... just saying
Dude your tutorial is the best! I've finally been able to get the charlier cut, and I'm starting to nail the revolution cut as well. Thank you so much!!!
Guys saying your hands are too small, you need to just stick with it. It's a really easy technique and once you start to build up speed you'll see it's more about the momentum of the cards than the size of your hands. I guarantee there's no problem - that I can tell you. I mean if your like a pygmy from the jungle of Equatorial Ginea or something then maybe its relevant. As I'm learning the charlier cut now, I am seeing you cant just let the pack fall into place but you have to be deliberate about letting the pack fall right where you need it so that it is square with the other pack. Then you get back into the straddle grip. I've nearly got it man thank you.
Do the scissor cut with half a deck at first a bunch of times to start building muscle memory, then slowly add more and more cards back until you're doing it with a full deck
Oh wow., You can teach! You made it so easy And now I'm having fun dropping..... Err,r, i mean practicing.. But honestly thanks.. you make it look so smooth. Hopefully one day i can make it look that easy.. thx.
It amazes me that I’m a right handed person. Normally I will say my left hand is useless. I’m very very right hand dominate. But when it comes to learning stuff like this. I automatically without thinking do it with my left hand. I’ve been practicing the first move for a few days and have gotten decent at it.
That's good idea I'm always doing those cuts in repetition just to get faster and better would like to learn some moves to connect them or make them flashier
You should train with both hands. I've noticed that even with the clumsier hand you make progress once you understand the mechanics of these with your better hand.
Your Average Piano Dude Since you are left-handed, you should actually be learning this cut with your right hand. This is relatively easy compared to a lot of the more complex stuff in cartistry, so you learn it with your non-dominant hand so your dominant is free to do other things.
Love the videos you two do No lie I remember being in my later 20's playing poker at lunch break with guys I worked with and taught myself how to do this well got poker hour taken away then changed jobs now I'm turning 33 and I first got into cardistry It actually took me over a week to learn how to do the charlier cut correctly then a week plus on all the other cuts it takes me from a week to a month to learn much newer moves i think month and a week on the one handed shuffle recently but it's a hobby and something I love to do I don't get to do it everyday most times
I could have practiced the revolution cut all day long and I would have never gotten it. But the scissor cut I got first time! Damn I'm proud of myself!
I learnt the Charlier cut from this channel. I had seen a lot of tutorials on it, but could never quite get it happening. Then I saw it explained on here. Now I can do it. Not very well though. Standard playing cards I have trouble getting the bottom packet moving underneath. My hands aren't long enough to get the bottom packet clear of the top. Narrower cards I can do easily. :D
Haha, slim playing cards - the future for entry level flourishing. Get the kickstarter set up. I'm woeful at flourishes. Why I like stuff that looks like it's way harder than it actually is like long distance spinner, lol
I don't know if I'm a quick learner but I got the Charlier cut down in about 2 hours and the Revolution cut down in half a day. Im having a bit of trouble with the scissor cut though
You guys should do your own CCC (Community Cardistry Competition) like an Instagram competition for amatuer cardists and provide a sweet reward package for 1st place. That would be dope.
Where are y’all getting these pocket dimensions in your palms from? I can’t even do the Charlier cut without my thumb coming off the side of the top packer
My thumbs are missing half an inch from normal hands and I can’t hold it high enough to clear the top layer. It’s just wedged in my hand regardless of how hard I push. Is there an alternate where holding the top with your thumb is not necessary? 😅
My advice would be to learn cuts with your dominant hand first. You will then find it easier to learn with your other hand. These three cuts can be mastered with both hands this way with practice
I feel like I have fairly large hands, But holy cow. They feel like doll hands when trying to do these tricks. I finally got the first and last, but that spin on the second one absolutely eludes me. My two new quarantine hobbies were cardistry and balisongs, and chopping my finger is somehow less frustrating than dropping the cards trying to do that turn. Eventually...
SMALL HANDED PEOPLE READ THIS. I have small hands and was pissed,, After about 10 minutes or so I finally figured out why people say it doesn't matter. when you are holding the top part, you can not let go no matter what, until the bottom reaches the top and your thumb . Force the bottom to bend if ya have to. So only practice one thing. Drop the bottom don't let go of the top no matter what until the bottom reaches your thumb. The cool thing about this is that it is super tight and holds the cards where you need them to be. Let the bottom bend if ya have to,, then ya pretty much just take that last leap of faith and open up your hand and let it drop,,use your pinky to keep them from dropping during the leap of faith... after 10-20 minutes you will get it I promise. I have small hands.. trust me it isn't that hard. i also figured this out by just using half of the deck. that helps too.
I have smaller hands as well, and find on the rotation cut, if you have the packet firmly gripped with the second knuckles, it will flow around and very stable. It did take me over half the day to figure this out.
Wow! Thank you so much. Today is the day I decided to start learning cardistry and at the beginning of this video, I thought for sure my hands were too small. This helped immensely and if there's anyone out there with small hands reading this...give this method a try. Took me no more than 10 minutes to get it down. Just start with half the deck then keep adding cards in until you nail it with the full deck. Thank you Todd!!!
Idk man I have 4/5 or 5 inches long hands and been doing these cuts since highschool. My muscle memory is okay but still messed up. 22 yr old lil hands uwu
At 12 i could do the charlier cut and im a very small 7th grader with small hands. Dont give up guys. A tip is to keep all of your fingers straight up to increase length and remove your thumb earlier than people who have bigger hands. Balance the top packet with your middle ring and pinky finger. It took me 10 minutes to get down with these tips so keep trying
good luck! let me tell you - time and practice is everything :) my hands are pretty small as well, but I have mastered charlier and revolution cut pretty quickly
Are my cards too big, or is it just a matter of practice? The cards I'm using (Waddingtons OF LONDON, Number 1 - flashy, gold coloured $12 deck of 100% plastic cards) are slightly bigger than the plastic coated $2 deck of cardboard cards I'm used to using.
I got all the cuts good but the scissor cut I can’t get. My pointer finger keeps preventing me from getting the top half under and it’s actually cutting my finger a little which makes it hurt bad after a few attempts😕 please help
So like, is the revolution and the scissor possible with small hands? Because with the scissor I can't bend my finger down to my pinky to split the deck into halves.... :/
on the revolution cut my hands are slightly too small for this specific method. My thumb cant reach far enough to the top packet for the ring finger to push the bottom packet toward my thumb. Any tips?
I am bored and have a ton of stuff i like to do like skate or yoyo, but i nailed the first cut in 20 minutes. Is it impressive or sluggish for cardestry?
Is it natural for my pinky to be this rubbed raw on the side while doing the trick multiple times? I keep telling myself that it'll go away the more I do it but I can't help but think that I'm holding them wrong enough for it to hurt my pinky. :\
holy mother of glory, so with the second cut, i found it stupid hard, at least the first part HOWEVER if u skip to the half way point after failing the first part of it, and succesffully do it (the last half i mean) then it feels almost natural and easy to do the first part
I have small hands, but the pride i've felt when i did the first one succesfully is priceless
I totally had the same experience 😃
Really excellent tutorial and really great to listen to. Thank you so much 👌
Same bro
I also have but 8 wanted to do
Because of I am a kid

I found the same with the scissor, much easier to go in with the thumb straight at the corner, than running it alongside the deck
Definitely wish there were more women cardists. My hands are too small for most of these tricks :(
Charlier cut - 1:07
Revolution cut - 4:47
Scissor cut - 10:07
Had to do this so i stop scrolling manually
thanks

ChocLit Milk This is a cut tutorial, and I am left handed. Most other tutorials I have watched have Ben right handed, so I had trouble following them.

The whole not practicing with the whole deck really helped me, cause my hands are so small. Thanks so much!
just received the card I order from your guys, gonna be honest, this is ready hard....
Grant is back, great to see you! but... What's the news on Chandler?
Are my cards too big, or is it just a matter of practice? The cards I'm using (Waddingtons OF LONDON, Number 1 - flashy, gold coloured $12 deck of 100% plastic cards) are slightly bigger than the plastic coated $2 deck of cardboard cards I'm used to using.
I gave it a shot!! I got the first one down, Second one = cards all over the place! haha
Just subscribed...your tutoring is awesome...clear, easy to understand and see. Well done mate.
I got all the cuts good but the scissor cut I can’t get. My pointer finger keeps preventing me from getting the top half under and it’s actually cutting my finger a little which makes it hurt bad after a few attempts😕 please help
👍👍. And What backsound your video?
Thank you for this amazing tutorial
My hand cramped up on the revolution cut 😅
Good video I learned it well now I have to practice 👍
I'm just getting into cardistry, just wondering how important a good deck of cards is. Im just using normal playing cards that my family has.
@Sybren van den Akker ok thanks
U got nice long fingers ...is this stuff possible for ppl with small hands like us girls
Do they sell smaller decks of cards? I don't have those long fingers.
So like, is the revolution and the scissor possible with small hands? Because with the scissor I can't bend my finger down to my pinky to split the deck into halves.... :/
Good to see youuu Grant!!!! Love u guys
on the revolution cut my hands are slightly too small for this specific method. My thumb cant reach far enough to the top packet for the ring finger to push the bottom packet toward my thumb. Any tips?
I should solve my physic equations, but im here right now^^
Thanks from germany
Sick backdrop👌🏻 glad we’re seeing more of you again Grant!
Thanks You So Much, BRO 🙏🙏🙏❤️
Great tutorial! I hope this isn't a dumb question but how does one learn cardistry?
Tutorials!!! We have a whole playlist on our channel!!
I am bored and have a ton of stuff i like to do like skate or yoyo, but i nailed the first cut in 20 minutes. Is it impressive or sluggish for cardestry?
I have small hands also. What's the best method for people with smaller hands?
Is it better to have more card on top or on bottom or equal
Omg I think the ✂ one is the easiest gunna do this one more these are fun
I can do it but I don't know how to do it without the cards getting messed up. How would I fix it
Is it natural for my pinky to be this rubbed raw on the side while doing the trick multiple times? I keep telling myself that it'll go away the more I do it but I can't help but think that I'm holding them wrong enough for it to hurt my pinky. :\
Thanks Grant! I’ve got the first two down already 😎. That last one will take me a lil bit 😂😂😂. Keep up the great work! You guys rock 👍
You guys are amazing! 🐳
This is difficult for me I just impaled my thumb with a nail like 2 days ago
Hope your thumb has become better now, and you have been getting better at the tricks. 😄
I learned how to do the scissor cut during the video but my cut i bring the deck back in from behind idk how that works😅
holy mother of glory, so with the second cut, i found it stupid hard, at least the first part HOWEVER if u skip to the half way point after failing the first part of it, and succesffully do it (the last half i mean) then it feels almost natural and easy to do the first part
Such a helpful and well-executed video. Very valuable for beginners. Cheers!
I just started with cardistry. Thanks for very detailed tutorial!
what did you study in college cuz i love physics and magic and wanted to know if it worked out for you
how many times did he confuse his fingers?
Thank you very much! Your explanation is very clear.
For rev. Cut you can use your ring finger to lift bottom packet
