      Blatantly Bookish in the past I’ve read Wuthering Heights (didn’t love it) and I’ve read some Austen (I find it to be just okay if I’m honest). I loved A Christmas Carol but that’s the only dickens I’ve gotten to. I’m going to read Agnes Grey and hopefully The Importance of Being Earnest. (I read Dorian Gray years ago but absolutely loved that.) I’m a bit all over the place! Haha!

      @BlatantlyBookish  4 роки тому

      @@LesReadBooks Well, a lot of people don't love Wuthering Heights and Jane Austen isn't Victorian, so let's leave those aside. Based on what you've enjoyed perhaps you'd like The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, Great Expectations, or Jane Eyre. Happy Victober! :)

    This is a great video. When I was in college, I took courses in British literature and I read plenty of Victorian literature. I remember reading the works of Ellizabeth Barrett Browning, Dickens, Wilde, and many others.

    Gaskell and Elliott are my favorite Victorian era writers. I’m currently reading Ruth by Gaskell and it’s just heartbreaking. It’s fully embodies the social views on women during the time.

      Gaskell is one of my favorites! I still have to read Ruth. I've heard how heartbreaking it is though and have been putting it off for years.

    I complained about sci-fi/fantasy books happened to read to Connor O’Brien. He was nice enough to recommend your site as well as lucythereader site. I read lots of 19th works. I’m fascinated in how folks lived outside the luxury of 20th-21st centuries.

    Hi,
    This video was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
    As a non-native reader, I find it challenging to read Victorian novels. I would be very grateful if you can give me some tips to tackle writers like Hardy and Charlotte Bronte.
    Thanks again for doing this! ❤

    Enjoyed your video, but you need to change your dates for the Victorian era. Victoria became Queen in 1837, not 1838. She also died in January, 1901, not 1900.

      Yea.... not sure where I found the wrong info when scripting this video years ago, but thank you for bringing this to my attention. I've added a correction note in the description section of the video.
