More like when the main character meets the main character This is kinda like fighting Soul of Cinder in Dark Souls 3 that it's an amalgamation of past lord of cinders, including your player character in Dark Souls 1, and in Dark Souls 3, you are to become a lord of cinder once again, but to do that you must surpass the Soul of Cinder, who is technically you.
This music is a remix of 敢问路在何方 (Ask Where is the Road), the main theme of the 1986 Journey to the West TV series. The transition to this familiar BGM invokes a sense of nostalgia, as is the stone monkey when he reveals his true form - the original Sun Wukong. "Why do I hear boss music? Wait this isn't just any boss music, it's the theme of the original JTTW!"
Incredible how you can still get goosebumps from this fight and with no dialogue too. That's when you know even though Wukong always talks smack, his mere presence is still enough to know he stands on business.
This is probably the most badass entry for a boss fight. In fact, Stone Monkey’s transformation for 2nd phase and Great Sage’s reveal gave me goosebumps. The background score elevated these moments to another level.

Translate "Sea Stabilizer Divine Needle". And yes, it is what it name implies. The Dragon Kings thought a monkey couldn't lift it, so he challenged Wukong to lifting it. He lost. Fun fact: the divine needle would cause quakes across the all four seas if it was spun. Consider how Wukong used it, imagine what lifes at the Sea Palace would be.😅

When you realize you are not the main character.

Only you can destroy yourself

It's not just a staff! It's the 如意金箍棒!
So damn epic. Especially that part at 1:25 where the music changes, he starts to transform, and boom! Wukong!

2:08 cutscene for me, chills
The music evokes so many childhood memories. It's beautiful.
I feel the same way. 2:00 brings me to tears idk why
3:05 The wukong silhouette infront of the setting sun is picture perfect in every way
That with the flute playing too. It's perfect.
Excellent choice for the backdrop by Game Science.
PEAK IN GAMING 1986 ORIGINAL OST
This is actually pretty crazy tbh. How this didn’t win game of the year I’ll never know.

When you hear boss music and realize it hasn't finished yet😅
3:06 is why I can never be any kind of destined one. If anyone ever strutted up on me like that I’m dipping out.
