To me that motif represents the journey itself. It makes me feel like I’m experiencing all of his memories of it while staring at his figure in disbelief. It’s like he never left his journey and is still here, alive.
I was playing this right next to my dad and he was more excited than me (he is 66) i shared the game with him and he cannot wait for the next DLC chapters, he even bought the books because the history got him!
When he takes the relics that high pitched ocarina? Just gives Naruto fight vibes haha but love the mythology love the story love the game wukong is the shit
My reaction when experiencing 3:50 during my boss fight: "This man is about style on me in ways I've never seen in my gaming career." And that he did. He yoinked my fucking heals, ragdolled my ass then proceeds to tell me to get the fuck up and grabs my staff just so he can ragdoll me again.
10:00 - 10:52 You know this is it, this is the moment. This is the last minute of the final epic duel, and all your past adventures flash back before your eyes...
"With a golden crown upon my head, clad in gold-made armor, in hand, the powerful Jingubang I wielded, on feet, the Cloudtreaders. Under my command, forty-seven thousand yaogauis strong, all hailed me as the Great Sage, a figure of peerless renown."
3:46 best part because remind me of journey to the west, the sunset and the way great sage broken shell grabbed the jingubang and put it between his shoulders it gave me goosebumps because that pose was so iconic🥶
I truly believe this is one of the greatest final bosses in video game history. Difficulty, interesting combat, music, spectacle, story set-up, general fun factor, it has it all!
I went to check the intro of the 1986 live action series. There are several points where the game theme pays homage to that old series. I can only imagine how the people who grew up with that old series will be shedding some tears of joy
Yes, and it’s actually more than that. It’s not just the series we grow up with, for example I actually never saw that series in full when I grew up, but this theme melody is just everywhere, it’s in the culture, it’s almost in ALL journey to the west or Wukong adapted works, so the moment we hear it our blood burns as we think of the spirit the monkey king represents - a hero, powerful, sass, aims for justice, and a guarantee for victory
Thats one of the best gaming moments ever, at least for us Western players who do not know Wukong as much as you guys. Also his Stage 2 when he takes back relics and does the stance, the hype. 10/10,
If u skip the cutscene this part will play mostly when he grabs u and hit u with his duplicates, it gives u "this is it! this is the end" kinda feeling, you and the final boss are fighting eachother both on your max potencials, so damn good!.
Sorry but I keep repeating the intro in this video reminding me of the 1986 theme but an epic version. When the Great Sage’s Shell and Jingubang just came out like that, I had chills 🔥
God…I remember hearing that music…and seeing that stance…it was like he was just about done warming up and was ready to really test me for his name…No other game in my life made me feel so frustrated, mesmerized, awed, angry, and yet so fulfilled

The first moment when stone monkey became the shell of the great sage had a similar impact of Stephen Chow's "JtTW : conquering the demons" when Sanzeng unwittingly unleashed Wukong from his imprisonment as he transform from a weird ol'dude to his sage battle armor along with "Dagger Society Suite" intro ( stephen likes adding this). Remaking "Cloud Palace Fast Music" into a "Celestrial Symphony" is one thing but into a battle theme? 😮 When you hear a triumphant Opera music playing especially with the Suona blaring, this is going down serious.
the intro with Suona leading in the entrance of wukong's old shell is PEAK, and with the percussion along with stringed instrument as well. 0:00 - 0:50 this is the best final boss fight theme YET once phase 2 comes in after the shell got his relics, this is where the flute comes in. 2:54 - 4:02
You need to play more aggressively for this boss compared to last bosses. You have to time your dodges well enough that you can hit him when he's winding up combos. Dont wait until a chain ends to try and hit him, or he'll immediately jump into another
I like to think that each broken shell is actually the previous destined one. EG: Currently, I'm gonna be facing the 2nd destined one when i get there on my current ng++ run
It's easy getting beat up with a weapon by a Yaoguai or a Wargod who can Split Mountains with his axe. But getting Beat Up by a broken mindless Shell with a glorified measuring Stick is just on a whole new level and deserves the best theme ever
My one gripe. I wish we couldn't get wukongs armour and weapon until we defeated this boss. To solidify that we have taken up the mantle of wukongs legacy.

@@FindingPurposes Nice! I'll keep an eye out for that, then. I've just beaten Erlang myself (after 2 days and 30+ attempts), so his theme is very ingrained in my head atm
I actually find it interesting that many people felt taunted by that … because I felt like he showed some integrity in that, like, “I won’t fight someone without a weapon, stand up and let’s fight again”. That was my natural reaction to that. Maybe it’s a cultural thing? I think many Chinese or Asian people grew up with Wuxia (martial art) stories would feel the same. Also I feel respect and pity to Wukong always even if he’s a boss monster
@Kazeasa it's how he picks your weapon up with his staff and kicks it at you while your getting up, which knocks you on your ass again. Then eggs you on to attack again 😂 but I do see you point.

Through in this case, it's "Will this be the last time?" as the true ending the Destined One and Wukong become one, the latter truly returns
That pose and the music just screams Wukong. That moment really tells the players we’re not fight a mere empty shell here.
The flute, the stance, the framing of the shot... So damn cool. Wish the flute instrument was used more in the track though.
Sun wukong: foolish boy you using it wrong, let me show you how to properly use it.
