You are awesome. Your videos are really helping me put together my jewelry business. I'm certain you saved me thousands of dollars, thousands of hours of heartache and disappointment, and put me on a bright path for success. Thank you so much!
I’m an illustrator hoping to sell art prints and I named my business “new pencil box”, bc it is simple, easy to remember and the domain was available. My concern is that it might be too long!
Thank you so much for sharing! my nickname is cupo. i love painting and coffee latte. I started a leather goods handpainted business, one years ago. I've named my handpainted business "cupolattee" referring cupo and cup of latte while i'm painting.
Biggest struggle coming up with a name! I collect and sell vintage items and upcycle/repurpose other items for home decor. So many of the names I've thought of are already being used. The most recent consideration is Rusty Pearl (rusty for the old items I use and pearl because that's my name). Goal is to have a booth in an antique mall setting. Any feedback would be appreciated!
rustypearlvintage.com is available, so you could use that as your online "handle" name. For your branding, your cards could always say like "Rusty Pearl: upscale vintage" or (whatever your tagline is) and use the word "vintage" there rather than in the full business name. (I hope that makes sense, it does in my head. 😆)
Hi Mei, thank you so much for sharing how to keep shop name for business. It's really helpful for me to design my shop name.I have send you email yesterday. Appreciate your guidance. Thank you Mei.
Thank you Mei. Discovered you 2days back and have been obsessed with your vids. I'm planning to start an eco-friendly clothing business! Some eco-printed tote bags and/or naturally dyed cotton kurtas will do! I remember your "Do not diversify while starting", so I'll start with one. Coming up with names_ecotire, ecodrobe, ecoparel, ecoration, ecomirah(from almirah meaning wardrobe_Indian English) Either no word strikes or a flood of them does😅
Chihuahua was a nickname I had in college because I was so little and I was pretty scrappy about getting my ideas across. I’ve named my quilting and sewing business “The Scrappy Chihuahua” referring to the scraps used in quilting. I’m worried that “chihuahua” may be difficult to spell for some people. Am I worrying for nothing?
Finally took the leap and bought stuff for start up your videos are so helpful! They're these cute little cactus earrings cards but now that I've spent money on something for it I can't back down (I hope at least lol) Edit: also I made sure it would last a long time bc there are a lot of them also also I too have tiny hands lol
I create mostly christmas ornaments in leather. durable and recycled. I have done so for a number of years under the name Noelle Collections. but now I am beginning to consider to sell online and there is a clothing line with almost the same spelling. I am rather attached to the name Noelle as it is the feminine version of christmas in french. what can I match it with. Design, christmas or what.
I think Noelle Collections is a great name, particularly if you're making Christmas ornaments. noellecollections.com is available (as is noelcollections.com - I would grab them both!) so I would go for it.
I went through several names before deciding on the one I have currently. I still feel insecure about it though for some reason? I think it's because it sounds like a great name for a food shop. But I plan on selling food themed crafts so it should work right? I spent so long thinking of the name and I honestly do like it. I think I'm just trying to justify my use of it. Hopefully if I just use it more, I'll become more confident about it.
You could think about your jewelry style, creative inspirations, words that describe your work (outside of "jewelry"), even words you like the sound of.
I have a UA-cam channel and I want to start a business but then you said to have all platforms the same I know my name i use for UA-cam wouldn't fit the type of business I'm going for. Now I fell a little anxious about the whole process now.
It's best for people to be able to find you and to also associate you with the brand they know. If the channel name doesn't fit with your business and you plan on using that channel with your business then I would recommend changing the name. If your YT is going to be completely separate and not mentioned by your business/brand, then it's okay to keep it as is.
@creativehive I will be starting a small business but I do not know what to name it. I will be opening sublimation mugs, shirts, etc. Hope you can help me
That's awesome! Good luck with your business! ❤️ Knowing your ideal customers and your brand's overall style will really help. So I had been brain storming my business name and I always thought of the name ”Danistique Designs” like fantastic and unique mixed with my name but, when I had brought it up to my mom she said that people would get confused on how to say or pronounce it and sorta squashed that idea. Then she had the idea to use a generator site that take words associated with your business and generates brandable name for you to use and one of the results was “Byoudani”. This name sounds really good when you say it but when I went to my friends for their opinion they where having a hard time pronouncing it so I had to explain it to them. So my question is should I stick to my guns or choose a different name that fit with my business directive? Also does having my name directly associated with my name have any set backs?
Hi Daniella! Great question! I think you should go with something that's easy to remember. It doesn't have to be a complicated one. Good luck!! Hope you find your winning business name soon!! ❤️❤️
I have been a bag and wallet maker for several years. I actually was learning to sew and sell at the same time, which I don't recommend. I have tried rebranding recently, but things have slowed even more. I have had a lot of support from friends and family, but now I have little to no sales. I honestly don't know about making bags and wallets as my main products anymore. I am finding it less fulfilling and enjoyable and more time consuming and arduous. I've started contract sewing children's clothing for a small shop. I'm enjoying the sewing so much more! I love the quicker turn around time too! I am seriously thinking about moving into changing my business into a children's clothing business. I am wondering if my DBA I recently rebranded will work? What do you think of Laura Katherine Designs for children's clothing? My LLC is In Shadowed Wings LLC. I'm also apprehensive out of concern to ending up in the same unsuccessful slump. I also have a lot of bag making supplies. I'm just not really sure how to proceed from here. I'm wondering if I should close up shop and start from scratch? I just want to sew from home and make money to support my family and make the most of my working time. Help!

What do you advise to do when the domain name you want is already owned by someone, but they're not actually using it (i.e. type in the web address and it goes to a page that says the domain might be for sale, rather than an actual website)?
Hi Rosa, you can always look into how much the cost is to purchase the domain. However if it's out of your price range not to worry. You can try adding a word onto it like "shop" or "studio".
I'm thinking of naming my skincare line Luminesique. I love the word glow and I didn't want to put body in the name so I found synonyms for each word and combined them. But Mei says the name should be short so I don't know what to do. What do you guys think?
The problem with this name is that it's not an intuitive spelling so people are either going to get lost on the way to your site, or you are going to be constantly explaining to people how to spell it. There are also a lot of beauty companies that are already using variations of "glow" and "luminescence" so that may be a little saturated.
Always a great video! I have a name for my shop that I used for a few years on Etsy and Facebook. What if it is taken when I make a website. Do I alter it a little?
Yes, you could alter it slightly and just make sure that the IG and FB handles are also available. If it's similar and you have followers already I would try to keep the first part of the name the same for recognizability.

Hi Gabrielle! I would possibly determine what your products are going to be before choosing a name so that you know that the name will match what you make. Gavril Studio is unique, you just have to determine if people will have trouble spelling/understanding "Gavril" since it's not a common word.
