    When you said your family didn’t support you and you didn’t make a sale at a craft show, I felt that. Same things happened to me.

      You're definitely not alone. I’ve learned that those setbacks don’t define us; they’re just part of the journey. Keep creating and putting yourself out there-your people are out there and they’ll see the value in what you do. Sending you lots of encouragement! 💖

      And now the same people who doubted her are benefiting from the crafts they didn’t support. I don’t know when parents are going to realize no matter if your children fail or succeed they deserve your support

    It's not the feelings and emotions that lie, it's the mental interpretation of those feelings.

      Thank you for saying this. "Controlling your feelings" is a terrible mindset. What you "control" is your reaction to and interpretation of your feelings. Following your feelings and intuition healthily is the way, as opposed to letting your ego get in the way.

    That was so helpful! Thank you for sharing! I closed an online shop last year and definitely gave up too quickly. It's really about knowing why you do it and also realizing that, if you want this to sustain yourself completely, you have to put in the work and try to solve the problems. While still checking in with yourself and caring for yourself, of course. :)

    This was so helpful! Thank you. I’ve been stressing about social media and how much time it requires. So hearing it’s not the best way is a relief. I design hand lettered fonts and create surface pattern designs so now I’m wondering where I could try to get published that could help to be seen by the right buyer. And I do need to work on my SEO because I recently changed my offers on my website from physical to digital products and haven’t changed my SEO to reflect that.

    Excellent video, especially the last part about personal accountability. I have seen many people (including myself) who wanted to be an entrepreneur and either they haven't developed the skill yet or they don't have the self-discipline yet to manage their own business. I figure never say never but I have seen people jump into it expecting to get rich right away plus they are disorganized. They don't want to learn organization or delegate tasks to others because they won't spend the money.

    Skill #3 being why going viral doesn't equal sales is SO true -- I've noticed this as a customer. I cannot tell you the times I've seen a (physical media) image go viral... but I manage to go and purchase it from the the artist's Etsy shop, as in an original singular painting, because despite the thousands upon thousands of likes, none of those wanted to spend $80 on an artwork. (And the more I realized this, the more often I will will, as my discretionary money is almost always spent on art!)

    Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you! I'm well aware that I have the fault of taking the dislikes personally/internally. And I've always been wary of the "wrong" kind of exposure to the wrong kind of customer. Hopefully, from here on out I'll let the numbers help me survive and thrive. 😊

    to be fair, you could easily get a very high paying job if you decide to stop being unemployed. your resume would be made up of all the valuable skills you used to run your business and those skills would directly make another business money too. a resume is not just about what work you did for others. its about what skills you have. and you would be able to easily prove you have the skills bc of your online presence and the data from your stores. but you should definitely keep working for yourself.

    you mentioned that you also have an etsy store besides your own shopify website, do you use etsy ads? i feel that etsy ads don’t work as well as facebook ads for example

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  3 місяці тому

      I don't use Etsy ads, and I agree that their effectiveness can vary compared to platforms like Facebook ads. Etsy ads can be useful for gaining visibility within the Etsy marketplace, but they might not always drive as much traffic or conversion as other advertising channels. It’s often a matter of testing and seeing what works best for your specific goals.

    I do art and want to make it a business but am bad at admin and numbers etc, how could I change or improve this or get help with it?

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  3 місяці тому

      You could try a few approaches to make the admin and numbers side of your art business easier. Start by outsourcing or automating tasks where possible. For example, accounting software like QuickBooks or Wave can help you manage finances, track expenses, and even handle invoices automatically. You can also consider hiring an assistant that focuses on the admin aspects of your business so you can focus on the creative side.

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  3 місяці тому

      You don't have to be an artist to start an e-commerce business. It all starts with finding a product you're passionate about. Once you have an idea, focus on building a simple website or using e-commerce platforms to start selling.

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  3 місяці тому +1

      One approach is to start small-set aside just 15-30 minutes a day for tasks like research or planning. You can also focus on building passive income streams or outsourcing tasks once you have some momentum. It's all about finding ways to fit it into your current routine without overwhelming yourself. Small steps can add up!
