Bro, thank you that’s exactly what I needed to loosen the brake rotor so that I can get the rotor off no other video has that simple little thing. Thank you.

Thanks so much for this video! I had trouble getting off my rear rotor, and it was because of the emergency brake. You had such a great view of the adjuster and it helped out a lot because I could not view where it was through the site hole through the brake rotor. Thanks so much for this video!

I did this on a 2017 Toyota Kluger (Highlander). I did similar...... tightened all the way, 6 clicks back and it was good. I think 7 might have been better but 6 was OK I think.... might be a tad tighter then factory on 6 clicks. Holds properly now.

So you dont have to take the rotor off to make the adjustment? Did you do that just to show us the inner workings? Or is it neccessry

Do this to all 4 wheels?
Also, tighten or loosen the adjuster?

      Just back wheels only

Great video, thank you. Does the other wheel parking brake star nut also have to be adjusted, or does the adjustment apply to both sides?

@@carfix1993 Thanks for confirming each side has to be adjusted, that's what I suspected.

Hello, my car is rolling down the hill when I park with parking brake. I will follow your steps, should I loose the brake adjuster or expand it?

Had a hard time getting the rotor off and finding the adjuster. It was rusted. And spring popped off the one side and had to bend other side. I wish people didn't make these overly tight so it's near impossible to remove!

yeah but sometimes it's hard to get the brake to hold without adjusting kinda tight. It's best to take off some tension from the adjuster before removing this style rotor/parking brake.

My highlander rear emergency brake is sticking ...I hear the sound of the shoes scraping the rotor or sticking on the rotor especially after rain . Any ideas why this might be ? Does it need adjustment or maybe it's corrosion? (I am in Canada )

Could be worn parking shoes or lot of dust inside rotor. First remove rotor and inspect then clean it.

It’s very difficult to turn the rotor by hand to line up the hole with the adjuster. 🤦‍♂️
