Yeah, his "make a ridiculous number of an OP early game unit that has high HP, a long-range attack against both air and ground, moves fast on creep, and has a healing spell" strategy really blows my mind. Every time, honest.
@@yazzzlet3549 The second game was definitely not a breeze for Dark. But that's what makes his overall performance so impressive. He was down for most of the game, and expertly avoided getting drawn into losing fights by sacrificing hatcheries. He bided his time and conserved his army until he had an opportunity for a decisive counterattack. I doubt there's more than a handful of zerg in the world that could have turned that game around. Most zerg players would have repeatedly suicided their armies while desperately trying to defend every hatchery.
Game 2 was absolutely insane play by the winner. ***spoilers*** I bet if Solar or Ragnarok or Armani was the zerg playing in that match, they would have lost the game at 5 or 6 different moments. But Dark stayed so incredibly patient and defended astutely, buying a few seconds of time here and there until he got up to hive. He was against the ropes for 6 minutes and turned it around in an instant. And then to blow up burrowed banelings and style on him with infestors... terrific game.
Nothing too impressive but Queens and A moving ling bane off creep This is why Maru stays at home late game - can't beat ling bane at home and in attack
That's something I don't think any other matchup tests as much: the patience and restraint to not take the bad fight. It's a completely different skill from what most of starcraft asks of you.
Nobody is as good at Dark when it comes to playing low economy zerg. He has such good instincts for when it's appropriate to stop droning and build up his army.
Game 2 is why Ryung and Maru invented the hyper defensive hyper absorption style against Zerg. Lings banes are too supply efficient, they can counter attack and defend at the same time against Terran while Terran cannot push and defense at the same time. The key is that you have to get a good early push against the Zerg and then go turtle and wait for ghost late game. You cannot just do nothing early game as a Terran and expect to get to late game, you’re gonna get over run.
In game 2, Cure was equal to Dark. But Cure didnt just turtle in midgame to just drag it out and maybe win late with ghosts. If Cure had advantage in game 2, he could push, but he was never ajead.
@@RodelIturalde in a none-maxout situation where Terran with equal supply and equal worker with a Zerg and the Zerg have no big bank, the Terran is ahead.
SPOILER ALERT Damn, Dark is such a monster. He wrecked this group. The last match with burrowed bane, to double fungal, to double parasitic bomb to finish it off was just insane
I'm a dark fan, but the way he plays... its both beautiful and disgusting. I can't help but feel sympathy for his opponents that are playing so well but it ends up just not mattering because he is dark
Dang just before this match first started, I was thinking of a new zerg comp of using just zerglings and vipers, because vipers are the ultimate anti-air with their parasitic bombs and zerglings can just take care of the ground. Problem was that viper is a hive tech and I didn't know how one would be able to reach it safely. Then dark revealed the same strategy I was thinking in addition to making it work. Those extra queens are meant to defend against air with zerglings/banelings against ground until he can get vipers.
Outside of Dark, Rogue, Serral, and Reynor, I doubt any other zerg player would have survived long enough to execute the counter attack that won the game.
21:10 i disagree. Spine is not good against terran cheese. It's better to drop a roach warren. Spine takes way longer to build. You can give up the natural but once you produced 6 roaches it's basically over. Those marines are sh*t.
Just 3 rax and turtle till 40 mins. Thank you cure for sacrificing your score to our excitement. I know by this action packed agressive terran style zerg will always outrun the army and counter attack, terran cant win this fun way they used to. But at least it was fun to see. I hate seeing the boring turtles games by maru over and over again.. zerg screwed this game up. TvZ used to be the prime MU of starcraft but it degenerated to a shitshow. But what do you expect. Just watch every ZvP series with rogue or dark, they just totally dominate. Our only hope in gsl is herO. His games are exciting and he stomps Dark usally in online cups. Hope he revenge the terran players.
All these years later and Dark is still blowing minds with how good he is.
not really he is showing us how broken zerg is

Those were some amazing games from Dark
Pretty standard ling bane. I don't think this was a breeze for him

The first defense... absolutly ridiculous. That was out of this world.
He built queens which are useful and hold most cheeses.
Dark looked scary AF today... shit was borderline abusive.
Look at the number of hatches he has at 8 min in game 1, he has hatches in the main too, no players can match Dark's macro.
the moment he fended off the first timing and he threw down 2 macro hatches at his main, i knew it was gonna be a fun ending for zerg =)
Serral can
@@ОлегХореев Lol liking his own comment... Serral always has less hatches show me one game equal to this.

I agree. Against Zerg the Terran have to do some early damage and slow the Zerg down one way or another; if not you are significantly behind.

If 2 lings are too much for you, that may be the right time to gg.
Poor Cure looks like his has not slept in a week.
Dark is great, but, lets be honest, Zerg is OP. Any race that can remax in an instant it OP'ED, period.
amazing how some a-move run-by can change the entire game completely, much balance

Zerg is pretty OP in Starone too....
god damn, soon you must start to Nerf zerg players, they are getting way to strong .. Soon it will only be zerg in top tier..
No, just no to hellbats, I agree with @Winter. They are a terrible unit and have one purpose… to die.
they are such bait. Tank no damage, have no movement and do no damage.
they have one job and one only, 1 shot-ting Ling-Locust-Broodling. Other than that, never ever use them.
TvZ good Matchup :P
Queens are OP.
mass queens = win time for expand cause terran cant push, nice unit

Putting names doesn't mean anything in RoundRobin format
@@TheBlakeWhitaker If you see who's in the winner/loser's match, you get their starting games spoiled for you because you know who eventually wins.
It's round robin for this stage of the tournament, names aren't spoiling anything at this point.
