  • While our new 1955 Crescent band saw was brand new on the pallet, that doesn't mean it was in ready-to-go condition. The tires had deteriorated over the years, and we had to deal with the three-stage power requirements before the saw could be fired up and put to work.

NOTE: We've since wired the original on-off switch to power the VFD. This means the original controls still work to turn the saw on and off! Keep an eye out for a third video soon.

if ya need some old arn to compliment that tool, I have a 1948 Rockwell/Cresent 8" jointer with pot belly base. Came from Coatesville Pa school district years ago and I only put a new 1 hp motor in it. I quit woodworking due to costs plus the fact that my brother can sell quality furniture through his auction house for less money than I can start my saw for. fact. Queen Anne furniture for under 20 bucks? queen size beds for $15? really? Cusrio cabinets for under $10....people don't want it unless it comes from a box: Ikea style. More wood shops have closed than opened over the past 3 decades...many more.

It was fun to see the grin on your face when you first fired that big boy up! Moments of pure joy like that come a little less frequently as life goes on. 🙂

Proud (& surprised) to be the first to comment! The shop is looking great! Very informative video. I may tackle (starting) restoring my older 10" Delta model 28-110 bandsaw today. You have inspired me! 😄 P.S. Will be buying some of those lead paint tester swabs. Good idea...

USE LAQUER THINNER, THROW AWAY PAINT BRUSH AND KEEP THE GREEN PAINT WET AND THAT PAINT WILL ZIP RIGT OFF.
NO DUST, NO NOISE. IT WILL BLISTER RIGHT OFF. THE L.THINNER WILL FLASH SUPER FAST KEEP IT WET.
    Napatha is useless.

I wonder how much Logan has to pay someone to be the boss there? I mean, he's having too much fun to consider that he is "working"... For the record, I'm willing to pay a buck 10-80 to take Logan's place when he retires(but do it soon, Logan. I'm 69.😂
