Halatafl (also called Rävspelet) is played on the same board. It's 20 sheep vs 2 foxes, the sheep's goal is to fill the 9-hole paddock, and the foxes goal is to capture all the sheep to prevent them from doing so.
Great video(s). There is a cool Indian variant called aadu puli ataam which is tigers and goats , different board , lotta fun. I believe there’s an Indonesian variant also.
