James Brown and Pavarotti just SCHOOLED the world on how to come together in perfect harmony!! AMEN!!
I would never have put the two of them together, but it is genus!!!
Pavarotti & Tracy Chapman is fabulous 💚 💙 💜 💛
What I like most about this collaboration is the obvious respect they have for each other. Two greats who appreciate singing with another great. Too many people have the idea that, if you like opera, you can't like soul, or vice-versa, but that's not true.
@@mikkj1 Agreed but IMO, Pavarotti always sounded best in his own element...opera. It became trendy for him to pair up with various artists from other music genres but it never impressed me as it did when he was on his own doing what he did best. But I'm sure they all honored to sing with him.
@Marie Whitbread I never said he did it to be popular. I said it was popular, but I enjoyed him more solo.
Pavarotti's father was dead 2 or 3 days ago when he performed that song feat James brown. In fact he sit down and only the opera singers know how strong and hard is sing sit down. He could reject this performance but he didn't it
I wondered how an opera singer could sing soul but this is just brilliant!! Whoever thought that two masters could combine their genres so beautifully 💖 This was in 2002 when James was 69 and Luciano was 67. Sadly James left us in 2006 and Luciano in 2007. Thankfully we have videos like this to re-live their greatness.
Amen They respected each others music. They respected each other and they produced a masterpiece. It is soooo time for America to get together and back this kind of respect. We can make masterpieces together. Contempt and disrespect gets us no where.
I can't believe I actually enjoyed it. I was kind of caught off guard. WOW!!
Wow was what I said
Right there with you, Susan ❤️
An unlikely combination but it works really well - both great singers from different worlds.
This was such a wonderful duet of musical talent and passion! Luciano Pavarotti and James Brown together - just incredible! Chills!! Love it! Thanks, JV! 💜👍🏻☮️
The orchestra were amazing too, it all blended perfectly. Two legends. Just a fantastic production.
Later in his career Pavarotti did a lot of duets with singers from other genres. They are all good.
Beautifully done man wow really what a heavy collabration
Hi from the UK, just lovely, these two go together like peanut butter and jam , it is fantastic to hear two different genres singing together, 🤩🤩🤩🤩 .
Whoa! Who would have thought these two would collaborate together. James is an icon his self but you can see he’s beaming with pride & respect to do this with him. I would say one of the highlights of his life 💖
Montserrat Caballé (amazing female opera singer) sang an incredible duet with Freddie Mercury. It's called Barcelona. You will get goosebumps.
Yessssss ❤
I like 'Guide me home/How can I go on'. It' is even richer than 'Barcelona'.
However, both are excellent and dear JV will just have to put both of them on the list to review 👌
I was just coming here to suggest that.. 💯
YES!!!!!!
THIS. THIS. THIS!!!
Wow Jovaughn. One great soul man, with one of the greatest tenors of all time, with a voice of the ages. This exploded into the air. Darn good.
We thank God for seeing them sing together !!! An unbelievable performance ....
My first album my boyfriend gave me in 1965 was James brown. Mr.. Dynamite 2nd. One was rightous brothers. 1965. I was 15. I'm 70now💞💞thanks jay
You must see "Miss Sarajevo", with Luciano and Bono, from U2
Hell yes
Definitely 🙏
James Brown still screamed like he was 20.Lou-cha-no was an incredible tenor! He was the best tenor in the world!
The king of soul and the king of tenors, here together, pure awesomeness.
I have loved this song since I was young and I’m in my 60’s now. What an amazing duet! This is classic!! Pavarotti and Brown are AMAZING TOGETHER!!! I have never heard this and now I have goosebumps! WOW!
Brilliant 💚 💛 💙 💜the Orchestra just brings it up to a new level 💖
James Brown R.I.P. is The Godfather of Soul!!! Pavarotti is Dope!!!
I am so happy you are reacting to the older music because that is a history that everyone should preserve and remember. These are two great singers from different genres and it is wonderful to see. thank you so much for what you are doing!
James Brown "Papa's got a brand new bag" and "Get up offa that thing".
I know I feel good!
My Thang.........get on the good foot......
Ok got to hear it thanks here I go
@@kentclark6420 song I feel good
Luciano Pavarotti, James Brown... Say What Now?!!! :) That was an amazing juxtaposition! :)
Two of the most influential people in their musical genre .....dude this is gold, james sounded so on point too
I forgot to mention that George Michael and Luciano have a duet. As does Elton John and Luciano. Both amazing!
I love seeing the wonder on your face, thank you for sharing your experiences with us all :) Another wonderful collaboration I can suggest is Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé, singing "Barcelona" (though I'm pretty sure someone else must have suggested it already). Be safe!
Seriously one of the greatest things I've ever watched. Two legends! Epic!!
I seen an older James Brown in concert and he was still incredible live. James Brown opened up once for the Rolling Stones and killed it!! The Stones said that was one person they would never follow up behind again. Lol
Pavarotti does a lot of duets. You should look them up. You’ll be so surprised!
Luciano Pavarotti is who inspired me to sing. Particularly in the "Popara" style.....crossover of Opera and Pop-type genres. Pavarotti is in my opinion the best Opera singer of my lifetime. He was gifted with a natural instrument that few if any could ever replicate. I feel so honored to have gotten to follow his work before he passed. Then again, he is immortal in his recordings. He and the other two tenors Domingo and Carreras made Opera popular, partly by their willingness to work outside of traditional classical works and partly because their trio was like nothing else. The Three Tenors together reverberated sounds like none other.
Fantastic! You reactions are a breath of fresh air, keep up the great work!
This collaboration could have been a train wreck, but it worked BEAUTIFULLY! These icons actually complemented one another and I love the mutual respect. This is great music at it's best. Someone had a vision and I'm so happy that it came to fruition so that we can enjoy this collaboration today. RIP Godfather of Soul and Mr. Pavarotti!
I love this so much!!!!! Thank you for sharing. I never saw or heard before now. I’m not sure if this is James song... Godfather of soul is his nickname I believe. Pavarotti sings it in Italian... it’s so incredible!!!!! You can see James Brown appreciates Parovotti... and his talent... What a treat to watch. Tears and a chill for me means it touched my soul.
I saw JB in '68. The "Hardest working man in show business". What a show!!
The Godfather of Soul
Wow, Where did you find this duo? That was crazy good! Thanks.
In a million years I never would have guessed the two of them singing a song together. I honestly didn't care for it, but it was interesting to watch and listen.
James Brown was my favorite when I was little (still like him) and I heard Luciano through my Italian mother-in-law cuz that was her favorite! Yes, the two together was fabulous!!!👍😊🙏
This is really interesting, but I really like it!!! Thank you for doin this - I would have never thought the 2 of them could have collaborated!!! Wonderful!!!!
Check out Pavarotti's duet from that same concert with Tracy Chapman doing "Baby Can I Hold You."
Pavarotti and U2 Miss Sarajevo!!!!! Will take you to another dimension
He took alot of heat in the opera world for this and other songs with pop artists, he was open minded and a genius. R.I.P.
2 ICONIC singers in a once in a lifetime performance…RIP
Oh dude - you gotta see more James Brown - he's THE MAN! I loved when Pavarotti did these crazy duets. So freaking cool.
I liked the smile of admiration Pavarotti gave JB. If this was a Voice battle, I would have picked JB!🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🔥
I, too, was surprised by this. Loved James' part, but the song sounded completely different when it was sung in Italian!!!
O wow 2 greats just amazing. Great choice jay. May they both R.I.P
very nice 😊😊💖💕💖
It's so sad that they are both gone, but just look at what they left us here.
Dope as helllllll!!! Damn good!!!
Wasn't sure about this, but the talents of both legends really pulled it of..amazing
You KNOW when you are in the presence of greatness!
How totally effortless the Maestro Luciano makes everything appear to be. Theatrics makes the showman. Ease of delivery makes the gifted singer.
Hauntingly beautiful.
James Brown never died until the day he died and he still didn't die. That's a life......
You would like the duet he did with Barry White also. Give it a listen. Jesus is Love
Please listen 2 the Maestro Barry White.......Satin Soul.....girl it`s true.....let the Music play....
It gives me chills. May they both Rest In Peace ❤
2Big Legends 🙏💖💖💖 Opera and Soul with Blues are such a special mixed 🙏
Mr. Brown once sang in his classic soul song, "It's my thing, I can do what I wanna do, You can't tell me who to sock it to." And, man, he sure does to the classic operatic crowd in this video!
That was The Isley Brothers not James Brown.
@@rhondabenin1571 Hey Rhonda, you are right! James just got me kinda feelin' funky. I got the "Papas got a brand new bag" tune in my head and typed the words to the Isley Brother"s great hit! 🙄
James Brown blinded me with those white teeth
More people need to see this! So wonderful
What a great sound to wake up to.... thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
This was incredible! I never would have expected it.
Amazing duet! Two amazing different icons!! James and Luciano! 🙏🎧❤️
Your emotions listening this remarkable performance is so great🙌👏👏
James Brown the undisputed "The Godfather Of Soul". The definitive artists of the 60's and 70's.
John Denver and Placido Domingo perhaps love duet. You'll love it
Great duo! This song has been on my playlist for years! 🎧 💓 🎶
Insane sounds, such a great performance
Loved it!! Would love to see
The live whole concert now!!😍
One of several collabs Pavarotti did in his career. I think his Barry White collab was my favorite.....that deep bass of White with the tenor of Pavarotti.
He also collabed with Sting and Bono of U2. I'm sure there were others. He brought opera into the mainstream by doing these. Pure genius!
Bryan Adams and Lionel Ritchie
Bon Jovi....he really did quite a few!
Queen and Spice Girls, too. I'll stop there hahahahaha!
Bridget Sclama Luciano Pavarotti did several concerts for charity with popular artists. My favorite is this one, one with George Michael and a special one with Stevie Wonder. Jovaughn you would love these!
Thanks for this Jay never seen it before 🇬🇧
I had to stop and watch it. It’s amazing!
WWWWOOOOOWWWWW! I never knew they sang together. WOW DAM!!
Uno splendido duetto, due voci meravigliose che si sono unite in una fantastica e irripetibile perfomance
The Godfather of Soul .... Hardest Working Man in Rock and Roll ... James Brown ... ...
Both died a few years later, but they still had it!
Great songs and combination!
Pavarotti did annual concerts for charity. I think it was called Luciano Pavarotti and Friends. Lots of performances with other great artists.
You awesome for being truthful💕there Booth beutiful and so are you. Stay True. Luv from Turkey.
Absolutely right, you don’t get better than this.
John Denver and Placido Domingo did a ong together - country and opera - just beautiful Jay.
Love this!!!
Beyond amazing
great pairing. it works. Pavarotti does one with Celion Dion that's good.
Love this. Just beautiful..
A combination that should have never worked, yet it was pure magic! And you could tell that James was enjoying every moment of it too.
I love this video. Even James was blown away by the greatness of Pavarotti. 👏👍💯🖤
And btw, who the hell gave this a thumbs down!? 🤔🤨😑
Luciano did an entire show with assorted rockers!
They are beautiful together, who would have guessed it! Thank you JV
Outstanding!!!🙆🔥🔥🔥
Two of the greatest ever.
Haven't heard this version before...... It actually blends together really well....... Two great singers with completely different backgrounds and voices.
Is there a life lesson there somewhere? ❤️
That ending is Fire!!!!!
Freddie Mercury did one with montserrat caballé :) Very cool - Pavarotti was definitely older here - retired from the opera stage. Great job by both! Thanks for sharing.
Love how Pavarotti is sporting the Spock "Fascinating" eye brows 🤨
Unbelievable. Black music and influences and transcends all genres.
Facts
2 Greats. Great duet.
oh man, that's way too good !!!
Another one worth checking: Luciano Pavarotti and Celine Dion "I hate you then I love you".
good music is good music no matter what genre. May both entertain everyone up there in heaven.
Your are my favorite “reaction mate!” Brother! :)
