When I worked for Walmart as a teenager, a few women who worked at the customer service desk would meet their friends/family members in the receiving area behind the store, load up TV’s in their cars. Then return old ones for money. This was back when the big “boob tube” TV’s were still around. I opened a box one day and found cinder blocks in it. I wouldn’t return it, so the ladies at the customer service desk got mad. Long story short, two of them were arrested, and a few others quit before they were fired or arrested.
Sleazy people. These type of people are one reason why Walmarts return policy is not as good as it used to be. People are not evolving, they're devolving. Evolution has failed.
He just had to return in online walmart doesn't accept returns in store for online purchases through other vendors. But they do allow you to return it online
@@SyntheticStuntMan Why? Because I'm sick to death of hearing (or reading, I suppose) people make that exact same comment over and over, as if it's some sort of indicator that they're better than everyone else? Of course we all know it's not true, though. If even half the people who claim in social media comments that they "haven't set foot in Walmart in years" were being truthful, Walmart would've filed for bankruptcy years ago.
This happened with me and my mom at Walmart. Except I kept going up the chain of command not taking "no refund" as the answer. We got our money back after 30 minutes. The serial numbers were different on the tv and the box. Once I mentioned Walmart was basically committing fraud by selling these tv's like this, we got our money back. My mom was not going to be out her money because their employees or supplier is stealing tv's. They knew what was going on. I made them check another tv to see if this certain brand were all like that, and I was right.
I did the same with a PS4 that was defective it died after 30 days and they have a 15 or 30 day policy on electronics I also bought the extended warranty and the lady if it covers me dropping it ECT she said "yes it does" mind you I didn't drop it or anything. When I went to return it on the warranty they told me "no" I did badger them for two weeks. I told me the sold me a warranty under false info and I wanted a return or a refund I got the return took a bit but I got it
And when that happens, the company will ALWAYS blame the employee for doing something wrong, and will NEVER admit that the employee was just following company policy. That way, it is next to impossible to actually find the right person to blame.
@@shayshay9764 Of course it is. But they obfuscate it, in order to make it impossible to prove that this is the case. They will just claim that the employee or the local boss misinterpreted the rules.
A Walmart manager could search the return records for that TV’s bar code and see when it was returned. Then check the video footage and see who did it. They probably paid cash to avoid showing ID though.
@@MoneyManHolmes I doubt they'll do all that. They'll just write it up as a loss. If this happens to another customer, the customer will need to go through the same thing and hope for the best.
Happened to me at Best Buy in Dublin, with a GoPro. Some stole and replaced an GoPro 11 with a 10. I immediately got back in the car to unscrew myself. Explained it to the cashier, he seemed confused, so I asked for a manager. The first manager was a jerk, she completely ignored that I purchased the camera not 20 minutes ago. I asked for a more senior manager. He compared the receipts. Discovered that it was an open box item and immediately offered a refund or replacement. Now, I open everything that I can right in front of these guys to verify the right product is in there. Also...stopped shopping at Best Buy as much as possible.
You shouldn't ever Buy Open box. Even if it's the same item, it can be a defective product in a way you can't immediately tell, which is why it was returned. Scammers vs. People who want stuff on the cheap.
We stopped buying from Best Buy when they decided they don't like white people anymore. I used to be a fairly active customer of theirs until that point.
This is a common problem which has gone on for more than 50 years of dirt bag consumers replacing a new item with an old item and returning it and even sealing the box with hot glue, only to have the returns department gladly take it back and put it back on the shelf. It's also a very easy fix, if manufacturers special seal the box and/or store employees look at the item when being returned. When i buy a higher ticketed or boxed item, i open it in the store or parking lot.
Funny thing is if you ever try to return something, the stores never accept it. How these scams get past the customer service desk is beyond me. They must be friends with them or something. Once I tried to return some headphones because I got them for Xmas gift and they were only wireless, not bluetooth. Sales lady wouldn't take it back due to a tear on the box from where the wrapping paper tape left a mark. Other wise completely unopened and fine lol.
How can they stop the scammer from returning it though, and still allow someone who legitimately got the item from the store and it was wrong? How do you know who is being truthful?
@@michellehawkins1027 Agreed. It's tough for retailers. I guess eventually being there’s a lot of smart people out there, something will be thought of. 😎
Tho it hasnt happened to me in a while, ive noticed the same thing with clothing. I bought a sweater for my wife. When she looked at it she noticed a "pull" in the knit. I didnt look at in the store, just put it in my cart. When i returned it, they took it back no problem. A few days later my wife was there & just happen to notice the same garment back on the rack. BUYER BEWARE. 🙏❤😟
Haven't you ever seen items taped shut and still for sale again? So think of it this way - this is a mega corporation. They only care about MONEY - nothing else!
When I need a TV, I go to the local pawn shop. My most recent purchase, three years ago, was a 55" for $100., still going strong, and the pawn shop guy even carried it out to my car.
A simple refund is not fully sufficient given the hassle he incurred along with the risk of potential disease from an item previously recovered from a dumpster.
Same thing happened to me. I bought a tv at Walmart and when I got it opened at home, it was clearly used and a different tv brand than the box showed. Also, it had several burned dvds in the box. I took it back. They tried to deny the exchange but i raised hell. Eventually, an assistant manager that knew me, knew i wasn't lying got me the tv i paid for.
That’s what I’m saying. This is a clear example of when to demand a manager and not just take what the person behind the counter is forced to do by policy. They have no discretion at their low level.
I bought a jug of Mobil 1 synthetic oil one time and I discovered someone's used oil instead. People are really scumbags sometimes. Walmart handled it for me to their credit
I'm glad he got his money back but you should have mentioned about the THIEF who returned that TV in the first place 😠 That person stole from Walmart 😠
That was the free TV in Samsung's deal. I literally have it in my living room. Bought a new nice TV from Samsung and got this one for free with it. But mine was the right TV. Bought ours from Best Buy
I would verify the contents of the package before accepting the package. Remember: Walmart made an offer to sell this man a Samsung TV; if the item was not a Samsung TV, the Consumer have the right to demand Walmart to correct the error or Refund all money paid for item or items purchased. (Offer and Acceptance: The Law)
Someone mentioned employee theft. Grab one that got tossed (or two - the fake logo and legs) Take the trash one in at night. It might take awhile to sell so watching video might not help catch the thief.
I bought a coffee maker from Walgreen's Drugstore probably close to twenty years ago. My old one died and I NEED my coffee in the morning. I bought it off the shelf and brought it home and went to open it up and clean it up for use the next morning, and to my surprise ...... there was a used coffee filter and coffee grounds in it. The first thing I noticed while unpacking it, obviously, was that the white coffee maker wasn't all that "white" or clean, and then it was obvious that this was used and simply returned to the store and the people at the store literally just took the re taped up box and put it back on the shelf. I immediately brought it back and asked for a manager, and this younger guy walked up to me and I explained everything to him, and opened the box and he saw everything. He literally, and I'm not exaggerating one iota here, said nothing but his mouth was just hanging open. He just stared at it, and finally I said "Should I just go grab another one off the shelf"? because after fifteen seconds of this dude saying nothing and literally with his mouth gaping open, I figured ONE of us had to say something, and he just nodded. THIS, ladies and gentlemen, is how America's stores are being run and managed, and again, THIS was probably in 2002, and it "ain't" getting any better. This is 100% on the store and on their people who work in or run the returns department. I'm shocked that Walmart, after seeing the OBVIOUS scam here, wouldn't take the television back without a hassle. Just one reason out of probably 30 (the clientele being on the TOP of the list), that I have not stepped foot in a Walmart in decades and never, ever will again.
I look at Best Buy. Then go next door to Wal Mart and buy the exact same thing, brand and model, for about 20% less. I always check for signs box has been opened on anything I buy.
Low level employees have little authority to deviate from standard routine. Had the employee initially refunded his money, she would, no doubt, have been fired for what her bosses would have assumed to have been a scam. Just like the original scammer who brought in the fake TV in the first place.
I know how he feels, I bought a gallon of antifreeze at Walmart. When I got home I noticed that it was used antifreeze. Someone bought a new bottle, drained their antifreeze, filled the empty bottle with the used antifreeze and returned it for a refund.
This what happens when you have people clearly not doing their job with returns. How ridiculous is it that somebody could buy a brand new TV, go to a dumpster and find one that is the same size and put it in the box and keep the new tv and then get your money back? Whoever took that return clearly didn't do anything whatsoever to inspect the tv to make sure it was legit. This is why Wal-Mart loses hundreds of millions annually because their security is absolutely laughable.
Lol ‘not doing their job...’ A cheap import store, products of unknown origin, workers under unknown conditions, ugly left and right, has become the mainstay, and people are complaining that unconnected hourly workers should ‘do their job’ 😂 yeah that’ll fix it...
It sounded like he ordered it online from Walmart and it was supplied by a third party vendor. Maybe.... and that vendor shipped the substituted TV. I can see where the store was confused and doubtful. It would be rare for a new flatscreen to be sold in store like that, now they do sell open box "as is" items at times. I'm just glad he was able to get his refund. Stores hate the web order returns, you can help by going online and start a return and get a Number so when you go to the store it is much easier to get your money back. Always helpful to take pictures when something is damaged or missing.
In 1997, my family purchased a Hewlitt-Packard computer from Walmart in person. We got it home and (as the 11-year-old computer expert) I set it up. All the free software trials were used up. And the hard drive was full of the most vile and disgusting pr0n I have seen in my life… before or since. We took it back to Walmart and they quickly replaced it and pretended like it never happened. We should have called the media, but it was a different time.
This is not the first time something like that happened. A guy I dated worked for a department store, this one day he was working in customer service. He said some guy and his girlfriend wanted to return a 32inch tv because it wasn't working right. He ( ex boyfriend ) looked at the tv and the box .. tv and box didn't match. He said nice try and called store security.
I purchased a coffee pot from the clearance aisle and was very disappointed when I opened the box at home and found a very cheap coffee pot inside and not the one pictured on the box. I took it back and they refunded my money. I would have been upset if they had refused. Glad you got. your money back and shame on the person who scammed the store. Blessings!
So, it was bait and switch. They took a discarded merchandise from dumpster. Went in store and got the tv they wanted and kept the new tv and stuck the dumpster tv into box and got their refund. Walmart, should not stock returns back on the shelf once somebody takes it home.
they dont. or arent supposed to. its been that way over 10 years. some employee there probably swapped it and stole the new tv. or if someone else returned it some employee put it back out that wasnt supposed to. either way employees breaking the rules again. thats why they dont get paid more
The law is pretty clear here. He received an item that was both defective, and misrepresented. They are LEGALLY REQUIRED to provide a refund, or exchange. Store policy doesn't supersede the law, or consumer rights.
I, always amazed at people who didn’t finish high school pretending to know the law.. Walmart is not obligated to refund your money if you didn’t inspect it before you purchased it..Also posted in the store the disclaimer puts you on notice when buying a television cracked screens cannot be returned under any conditions OTHER DEFECTS MUST BE ADDRESSED THROUGH YOUR WARRANTY
@@ls400s once again, Walmart store policy does not supersede the law. They have no authority to put anyone on notice. I live in the Philippines, when you purchase anything there, they open the box and check everything, I mean everything, if you buy a boxes of tiles, they open every box and check every tile, all electrical components are connected to the power supply and checked.
I needed a jump box to keep in my car so I got one from Walmart. 80 bucks or so. When I opened the shrink wrapped box, the jump box looked like it had spent the last ten years in a mechanic’s shop. It even had initials written in permanent marker on the body. Charging port was broken and cables were missing. They took it back and I grabbed another one off the shelf.
Businesses just don't care anymore...That guy will most likely NEVER buy ANYTHING from walmart and dissuade and friends of family from doing so...As a business owner ( general contractor) it's our response to any problems that makes a customer happy...Ideally; there should be NO problems...The manager at that store should be immediately fired...I'm in my 60's and The America I grew up in, is no longer the America in which we live...
Ok please let me explain. I am working for one of the major retailers. We sell all kinds of household items including vertical blinds (use for patio door). One day a customer purchased an appeared to be brand new vertical blinds. 30 minutes later she came back with the blinds and complained that it looked like a used blinds. So I went to the customer service to check it. Yes, it was a used blinds but someone carefully packed it back to the original box. I believe a person swapped the blinds and returned back to our store. Because it was so well packaged and our customer service didn't have the time to open it due to the long line up of customers with returns.I I believe that's what happened to this gentleman TV.
@@davey11ify you would know if you are working at one of the major retailers in North America. Besides thefts, customer scamming and customers abusing our returning policy by returning used products. That's why some major retailers already started creating unannounced black list for problematic customers.
How do you know that? Could have very easily been a shady employee stealing TV's. Last time I returned a TV it was removed from the box and the serial number verified before they issued my refund.
A lot of the problems with today's returns are that items are rarely inspected, and if they are- it's by unknowledgeable people. Items are then simply returned to the floor for resale- regardless if they have been inspected or not. Items returned used to be either sent back to manufacturer or discarded.
Welcome to retail. I worked for years in it and there was always somebody trying to pull something on returns. We sold TVs too and there was a crime ring that was buying them and removing the TV and then they would put a log it the box that weighed the same and then very carefully retape the box to the point you couldn’t tell it had ever been opened. It worked well, you would have to flip the box upside down to tell anything was off, and no one does that. We generally found out we’d been hit when we got the angry call from a customer that bought one. We also had the same thing with bricks and the early $1000 camcorders.
Maybe start opening your expensive electronic purchases in front of the service desk before you even leave the store! Had this exact thing happen to us in the 90s. Wal-Mart tried to blame my mother, but my amazing grizzly bear of a father had some stern words with the manager, and we left with the correct television lol
Whichever employee who did the original return was in on the scam. They are supposed to open boxes to verify what's in the box matches the outside of the box before doing the return/refund. After the first time it happened to me, now I always open boxes after I buy but before I leave the store.
Last time I went to a Walmart was probably 25 years ago. At that point, I bought a new vacuum cleaner. When opening at home, I noted not only were the attachments missing, but the cannister was partially full of debris. It was obvious that this had been used, items stolen, returned, and repackaged. Haven't been back since.
I have bought hand cream (in a tub) that I discovered had been opened, with a finger sized glob scooped out of it. Last week, we brought home a bottle of pain reliever that appeared to be sealed, but when we opened the box, the foil was punctured, two pills were missing, and the rest were sticky. Got told to pound sand on the first, and given a refund on the second. It sure would be nice if Walmart used all those cameras to protect their product integrity as much as scanning for shoplifters.
I just bought face cream at Sephora and when i got home and opened it 1/3 rd of it was missing and had finger scoop marks in it. They took it right back and refunded my money. It was disgusting.
This is rough because I actually worked for the Geek Squad at Best Buy for a few years and I can't tell you how many people took an old electronic item and jammed it in a new box that they found somewhere and tried to return it for money or store credit. I don't know how the TV slipped through the cracks at Walmart, but I can definitely see them not wanting to give him a refund because they were probably thinking he was the fraudster.
I have never had a problem returning items at Walmart. It could be because I live in a small town and know most of the employees personally, but I've never heard of anyone getting scammed.
There's something about tight-knit communities that improve accountability... as they say, "bad gas travels fast in a small town". Glad you haven't had any issues! Thanks for commenting and sharing! :)
This man is clean cut, well taken care of, and they originally thought he was scamming the store? The only scammer here is the customer return center person who denied him. They are probably in on it.

It also happened to me... I bought a pair of headphones that would also serve to reduce noise, but I realized that the box was poorly sealed, I returned immediately and they said they would investigate with the cameras to see if I had checked the product. I told them "just as they gave it to me, I'm returning it." That's why you use your credit card and let your credit card co handle the dispute. They will get your money back for you. This goes for your "check card" also. if it has a MC, or Visa logo, you have their purchase protection. Another reason to always select credit when using them, not debit, different protections.
OPENED A BOX OF BOOTS AT WM, I WONDERFUL PAIR OF USED BOOTS IN THE BOX. SOMEONE WALKED OUT OF STORE WITH A NEW PAIR OF BOOTS; leaving their old nasty boots in exchange

12 years ago, I bought a large flat-panel TV from Costco. When I opened it, it had obviously been used before since the protective plastic over various devices had been removed, the batteries were in the remote, etc. I returned it and had no issue getting my money back. But the curious thing was when they tried to trace any previous sale or activity for that TV, they could find nothing, which to me seemed to indicate it may have been an employee who used it for something like a Super Bowl party and then repacked it and put it back in stock. The other boxes of the same TV looked pretty ratty, so I took my money and bought the same model from Sam's Club.
I was at a comic convention years ago.....I was talking to a guy that bought a Star Wars Action Figure set a year or 2 before....I forget what....he said he brought it home after the con....opened it up....and found a brick instead of the toy.....
This happened to me too with a kitchen appliance at Walmart and I returned it the same day it was delivered. There appears to be scammers at Walmart and their employees aren't checking if the legitimate unused products are put back in stock. People who order products from Walmart should record their package while opening their merchandise. WALMART NEEDS TO DO A BETTER JOB.
Evidently a lot of commenters didn't pay close attention to the gentleman's story, the TV in question was purchased online and delivered to his home. I have had similar things happen from Amazon and Best Buy. Amazon in particular makes it extremely hard to get in touch with someone to actually talk to in order to explain the problem.
had the same thing happen with a 5 quart jug of synthetic engine oil. someone put their used oil in the container and super glued the cap back on and returned it for a refund, wal mart employee put the container back on the shelf to sell. wal mart manager tried to tell me she wasn't responsibe, i started getting loud and got my refund. they need to train these people to inspect these things more thoroughly, because we're the ones who are losing and not these huge corporations. These are not uncommon occurrences, someone sees a 50" tv in a dumpster and immediately knows to go to wal mart and buy a 50" tv knowing they can box up the trash tv and return it, all they have to do is repackage it convincingly enough. all they really are doing is screwing another customer. things like youtube teach people how to act like this and exactly what to do. companies need to be more proactive and even charge these people with the crimes they are committing.
Lesson number one: Don't do business with Walmart. Buy a TV through a reputable dealer who will deliver it and set it up and make sure it works correctly.
One thing nobody here seems to know including the Reporter is Walmart allows 3rd party sellers similar to Ebay. That is why they didn't accept the return. It didn't come from their warehouse.
Good griefI One would assume if you're buying from a retailer, especially a large one such as Walmart, online or otherwise, you are buying directly from that retailer and therefore subject to consumer protection laws that can't implement a policy of no returns for defective or not-fit-for-use products. (This assumes the US has such laws) If Walmart or any retailer are allowing 3rd party sellers in-store or online, then it should be made very obvious to the customer whether they are buying directly from the retailer or from a third party seller. Their site overall should also clearly include the fact that they facilitate 3rd party sellers which aren't necessarily subject to consumer protection laws and therefore aren't guaranteed a return policy. no matter how unfit for purpose the product may be. If they aren't, then evidently consumer protection laws haven't kept pace and should be rectified.
@@MoneyManHolmes From memory though, I think he bought it online and elected to pick it up as opposed to having it delivered - but I'm not watching it again to refresh my memory.
I recently ordered a laptop from Sam's Club (Walmart) and when I received it I could tell it the box was light and that it had been shipped from a different distribution center than my tracking info told me, so something was up. I opened the box and inside were mop heads. I first called Sam's Club for assistance and they said I had to file a theft report with police because it was over $1000. I thought that's BS and hung up, called back again, got a different rep and they immediately said they'd send a new one because they value their club members. I shouldn't have to file a theft report with the police and have my insurance cover it just because someone at their distribution center stole my item. But they made it right. If you don't get satisfaction the first time, call back, get a different rep who actually cares, and keep pushing.
I never have a problem with them. I buy clearance and open box stuff all the time. Anytime I've returned any of it I've never had an issue. Maybe it's just the people at his location
Our local walmart was aloted 32 game consoles in a shipment, they came in I went to get my pre order reserved game in and the clerk said only 6 had made it into the store, all others had gone out of the loading dock doors. They eat themselves🤣
This is why the US needs the same consumer rights that we have in the UK. That shit would not fly over here, were a shop to try that crap on, you would simply contact your card provider and get a visa chargeback.
I ordered a "refurbished" TV from the Walmart website and did not open it immediately. When I did, I found a TV of another brand with a hole in the screen. Because it was from a third party seller it only had a 30 day warranty and too late to return. All they would do is say "too bad, so sad". Won't use Walmart online anymore.
No. That’s not how Walmart should be behaving. Just because the news intervenes, Walmart shouldn’t make an exception. They should stick with their policy as they described it, and let things play out like they would for any other customer. Are you telling me that their policy changes depending on how powerful you are? Seems like discrimination that needs a lawsuit. That’s the real way to resolve all this. The news just helps Walmart avoid the penalties of the actions they were committing.
So what happens if someone buys a new TV, goes home, puts an old, crap TV in the box, returns it to Walmart and claims that it's Walmart's fault? How are they supposed to the difference between a customer who got ripped off and a customer who is trying to rip them off?
In order to ensure that the TV that's being returned to Walmart is the TV that belongs in the box and that it's the TV that matches the receipt there is a number sticker on the TV that corresponds with a number sticker code on the box which must correspond with the same number that's printed on the receipt it requires opening the box take the TV completely out look at the sticker look at the number compare that to the number on the box compare that to the number on the receipt
@@bmaiceman How is someone realistically going to remove a tightly and perfectly packed up 60 or 75 inch TV out of the box in the store, THEN get it back into the box? Have you ever tried removing any kind of electronic or small home appliance from a manufacturer's box? Everything is packed inside so tightly and in such a way that it's next to impossible to pack it all back up and get it into the box.
@@moondancer334 be that as it may that is the standard procedure!. Believe me I know been there done that several times lol. And yes I have dealt with manufactured electronic devices and appliances in game consoles and such that are packed in such a way that once you remove them from the original packaging to check their contents putting them back together so that they will fit back into the original box is nothing short of a giant life-size Jenga game LOL believe me I know exactly what you're talking about, still that is the standard procedure
If I ever bought an item like a TV I would inspect it before it left the store. Those screens are very fragile and even seemingly small damage can render them useless, and it's easy for them to claim you dropped it. If that is not possible, buy from a store that delivers, and carefully inspect before they leave.
Several years ago an LG TV from Walmart failed well before the end of its 1-year warranty ended. It took 3 months of working up the LG chain to get past the "you must have dropped it" mentality for a wall-mounted TV. The repair man who eventually replaced the defective screen told me LG made special TVs for Walmart that were only expected to last about a year anyway. So if you see a model number at Walmart that is not sold elsewhere, be concerned about both quality and warranty coverage.
I got into it with a Walmart employee over an item they refused to take back. I held up the line and embarrassed the lady by simply pointing out they were wrong! Stand your ground but use their failed logic to your advantage. I got store credit.
Easy solution: When you purchase a TV from Wal-Mart (especially if it's one of their more expensive models) add a delivery option (I think it's only an extra $15). Then you will have witnesses should anything go wrong and if you have Nest cameras indoors then you have additional evidence. Sad that we have to resort to this in this day and age but times are tough and scammers are lurking everywhere.
Walmart can easily tell that his story was true. Big ticket items are tracked. All they gotta do is take the serial number on the box, check their records to see if this same box had been purchased and returned. They should've done so in the first place!
So Walmart allowed someone else to return a TV with a random broken set in the box and put it back on the shelf and sold it as new. A while ago at Target I bought a cheaper piece of electronics, and found a used item inside the box with damage. I returned it. They took it back. You just never know. I doubt Walmart will now be allowing shoppers to open the boxes to verify the correct items are inside before buying it.
I used to work for Walmart home office in a department called executive escalations. In situations like this usually what happens is a store employee failed to do the correct review of the TV when it was returned by the scammer. The store was then stocked back to the sales floor as a result of poor communication. This poor consumer ran into employees doing their job and was not allowed to return the clearly tampered with TV. Glad you were able to help him. It can be difficult to get the help you need from a large organization.
I went through the same thing at Walmart except I bought it in store. It was one of their broken display tvs they packed back up with a different remote. They accused me of scamming them, tried to blame it on Samsung, and wouldn’t let me return it. Thank god I only had to call the manager and he let me return it after I told him I spend thousands of dollars there. But being accused of being a criminal in store was traumatic and embarrassing.
I guess the takeaway here is always check a big ticket purchase in front of a store worker to make sure it is what it claims to be after purchase but before you leave the store if you can. You check it at the store before you leave and if it’s the wrong item, the store should rectify the problem right there.
I bought a coffee maker from Walmart with an extended warranty that I paid extra for and when I tried to get a new coffee maker because that one wasn’t working properly, Walmart wouldn’t help. Note to self don’t buy anything from Walmart.
NEVER order from Walmart online. They allow counterfeit items. I ordered a Nintendo Switch pro controller from them and received a knockoff that weighed less and had different serial number than the original, but it looked almost identical. Luckily I was able to return it and buy a real one from the store.
People do this a lot. I worked at Lowe's somes years back and saw it all the time. People would buy something and bring their old item back to the store in the new box and get a refund. The trick is that they bring it back during a busy time of day so that the clerks would be less likely to check inside the box, especially if it made to look like it had never been opened.
Company policy wouldn’t let them return it, but it was OK for the scammer to “return it” and get his money back??
Funny how that is . right??

Not only did the scammer get his money back they also got a free TV because they evidently didn't put the right TV back in the box.

Thanks for watching and sharing:)
Inspect expensive returns & as you said " charge these people with the crimes they are committing." 👮♀️
He was able to keep his composure and act civilized so not too much is lost in the end, what a hassle for the poor guy!

Your first mistake was shopping at Walmart
Why?
@@dads1962 if you don't know me explaining it you still won't understand
(This assumes the US has such laws)
If Walmart or any retailer are allowing 3rd party sellers in-store or online, then it should be made very obvious to the customer whether they are buying directly from the retailer or from a third party seller.
Less than 10 seconds into the video - “he stopped by his local Walmart to pick up a Samsung”
OMG! Mop heads?! That might be funny if it wasn't so frustrating. Great job persevering until you got the issue resolved!
I never have a problem with them. I buy clearance and open box stuff all the time. Anytime I've returned any of it I've never had an issue. Maybe it's just the people at his location

You have to understand that all these retailers have so many customers trying to scam them so they don’t automatically believe your story 🧐
Walmart doesn't honor its warranties. Horrible customer service. I refuse to do any business with them!
Good. More room for me ....
Our local walmart was aloted 32 game consoles in a shipment, they came in I went to get my pre order reserved game in and the clerk said only 6 had made it into the store, all others had gone out of the loading dock doors. They eat themselves🤣
No way in hell I would have walked out of that store without a full refund or a new TV, no matter how much noise I had to make.
Tom =Ken?
not treated correctly by large companies.......please take a number and be seated
Thanks for sharing and watching:)
Scammers .. Go a head andd blame the store and think that scamming them is new and rare...FFS
I'm sorry that happened to you. Thanks for watching and sharing:
Don't buy from marketplace sellers.
You admitted it wass 3rd party. Plenty of warnings on the site.. and you STILL blame wallymart?? Holly fak man, take some responsibility..

Thats my point exactly.. thats been happening for 50 yrs.
If I ever bought an item like a TV I would inspect it before it left the store. Those screens are very fragile and even seemingly small damage can render them useless, and it's easy for them to claim you dropped it. If that is not possible, buy from a store that delivers, and carefully inspect before they leave.
Did you notice how he made himself remain calm? Pay attention, black America.
Your nasty !!!!!
Good tip! It helps to be skeptical in these situations so you don't let yourself get taken advantage of. Thanks for your comment! :)
Delivery doesn't guarantee contents haven't been tampered with.
Walmart can easily tell that his story was true.
Big ticket items are tracked. All they gotta do is take the serial number on the box, check their records to see if this same box had been purchased and returned. They should've done so in the first place!
Not always.. most times the outer box only has the part#.. the barcode is only part number, its not specific.

Saving the world, one t.v. at a time 😂😂😂😂😂
So Walmart allowed someone else to return a TV with a random broken set in the box and put it back on the shelf and sold it as new. A while ago at Target I bought a cheaper piece of electronics, and found a used item inside the box with damage. I returned it. They took it back. You just never know. I doubt Walmart will now be allowing shoppers to open the boxes to verify the correct items are inside before buying it.
Thanks watching and sharing! :)
Lesson Learned: Inspect it at the store, maybe even before paying for it. Once you leave the store, you own it.
Great rule of thumb!! Thanks for commenting and sharing! :)
No they Dont. You bought it 3rd party.. thwy have 0 control on that.. it says so many times before you purchase online... PAY ATTENTION
People do this a lot. I worked at Lowe's somes years back and saw it all the time. People would buy something and bring their old item back to the store in the new box and get a refund. The trick is that they bring it back during a busy time of day so that the clerks would be less likely to check inside the box, especially if it made to look like it had never been opened.
crazy! Thanks for watching and sharing:)
Legal action is also a valuable tool. Sue them in small claims, they'll settle immediately
