I was really struggling with my productivity and focus for a long time but since I started prioritising what I love, I am getting so much done now, in every area.
Lovely video thanks. I'm watching Elizabeth Gilbert TED Talk again 'Your elusive creative genius' and I'll look out for the book. Have a cosy November! x
More, more, more! Love it when you and James show your fun times together ❤️ You are both two of most amazing people I binge watch as often as possible! Keep it up, sweeties! Sending you warm hugs and positive vibes! 🤗
@The Unexpected Gypsy I've been watching you for a bit since you appeared on my channel & I am feeling emotional today, though I've wanted to tell you how proud I am at how you've grown. It makes my eyes and heart swell with joy and I hope I can learn from your example. Keep having fun with art.
I had my cup of coffee with you. I love to do adult colouring & Diamond painting, (I'm not very good lol ) but have found it's very good to calm my anxiety. I'm retired early due to poor health & have found at first my mental health was really struggling but now I have a quite strict routine & have found this helps enormously. Especially planning time for colouring, reading and me time. Thankyou for your lovely videos xx love to you both ❤
Hey Wendy and James, lovely scary pumpkins! And your little square pieces are so elegant! Thanks so very much for sharing on your self care and flow techniques. Like you, I'm a paper & pen girl, no bullet journals here. Just a steno pad with my top three things for the day, and notes as I prep and do. I've been giving myself pj days lately, although work continues, I'm less demanding of myself. Oddly, more is getting done. Tea with you (in my orange mug printed with a gorgeous African goddess, and the motto: "Expect, Embrace & Enjoy") is the highlight of my week! Listening to you discuss your meetings with James, my mind went back to a late soulmate ex, at the beginning of that relationship. Yummy memories. So glad you and James found each other and grew together to where you are now, able to compartmentalize the romance for a bit and have those friendly, productive business meetings. You are such wonderful mutual blessings to each other. Live long and prosper. Namaste'.
I totally agree Dear taking that time to create by yourself is so important , I spend most of my time creating by Myself . I am not on youtube I have been showing my work on Facebook and instagram , and I have my own site now . I have become comfortable doing this , and hope to do more in the near future in sharing more and doing some classes we will see. :) Thanks so much for sharing and love your pumpkins they are great , all ways enjoy your videos and love your Art .
I heard that the lower butterfly wings should be touching when open and only dead butterflies that are showcased have them pulled apart. Love your work!!
Hello Wendy and James.Your butterflies, flowers, and girls are interesting and beautiful! Thanks for sharing footage of the pretty fall rain and your fun pumpkin carvings. It’s the little things that make life worth living. Autumn hugs to you from Texas.🌻
Yes , if you spend to much time in the public eye or even looking at other peoples creative processes on line I find it can dry out your own creativity..... So privacy while creating is a necessity for me .
I think people who manage to do what they love as a job are truly blessed. I hope to get there someday! I will work on that until the end of my life! Even if only 1 day I get to do what I love as a job I will be satisfied! 💖
I always open your video, put it on pause, and make my tea to join you. A group of friends, so to speak, having a chat. You can't hear me, but I often chat with you lol. Creativity is odd isn't it? I think of it as much like a cat...I'll do it when I dang well feel like it, you can't force it...
I always enjoy seeing you & James together. You seem to compliment one another so nicely. He is so agreeable & always seems ready to do anything needed. I really enjoy hearing your process and how it helps you to get a better balance. Your studio is such a nice space. I especially enjoyed being able to see out your windows in this video some plants, but not filling the windows as much. You have a nice view
This reminds me of that video Essay from Zee Frank, "An Invocation for Beginnings" My favorite quote from that essay: "....Let me remember that my courage is like a wild dog, it won't come when I call it, I have to chase it down and hold on to it as tight as I can.." I would recommend watching the whole thing. I use it as my "hype video" to get me going when I don't want to.
I love the way you and James are sitting at the table working on the pomkins😄 I just feel like joining! I really appriciate the subject today, becouse I always struggeling with this myself, I think I will tray working in the morning ,it really make sence Thank you Wendy for Beiing there for us😘❤️🎃
Thank you so much for this incredibly inspiring and soothing chat. I'm just getting back into my creative swing and battled with the idea of coming back online. I had only begun my online journey and then world events shifted my energies elsewhere. So watching this today was so perfectly embraced by myself. I've been following you for about a year now. I love watching you drink tea as I used to live in England so it's a nice comforting thing to share! Thank you for sharing your admirable and cozy self with all those who appreciate your energy. MaJesstic Source is my channel, my name is Jessie, and I'm an artist and self taught musician and finding my way into sharing more too. I have videos ready to come out(not so scary anymore!), so thank you again, dear soul, for your beautiful offerings and gentle inspirations. Sending you a long hug from Toronto
💜Hey! Elaina to the rescue!!!😊I have a great idea for you in keeping warm!! Buy yourself a hot water bottle!! Fill it up!! Take it with you!! When I sit down to do my art I put it in my lap and I can warm my fingers!! It really works!! Hope this idea helps you!!! Thanks for a great video!!!💜
Inspiring , truthful and fun. I enjoyed this weeks video , but then again I do EVERY week. Your pumpkins looked great too. Ive been in a creative slump, so Ive been rearranging my art space, moving things around, adding frames . I’m hoping all that will inspire me to do something. No pressure. I need to try the No Plan Plan .. 😊. Have a beautiful weekend everyone. Love and hugs to you and James .
Hi from Sweden, Wendy 💛🦋 I sometimes do a digital detox and go completely analog. It can be quite an adventure in these times. Thank you for being here to inspire me (us all). Warm hugs 🤗
Does my heart good to see you taking care of yourself, the green butterfly is beautiful! I liked how precise James is with his carving! Blessed and safe days!
Love all those windows and white paint. Great therapy when dealing with gloom. Saw the Christmas lights. Look forward to seeing Santa Claus/Father Christmas in the studio.
I recently started my UA-cam channel and I can’t say thank you enough for being so real and creating such genuine videos. Ive felt a lot of pressure to make a big “production” out of each video, but your channel is so inspiring in its charming simplicity. 🥰
Random comment for you Wendy, your videos always make me feel relaxed and make me smile. I saw the mug you use in your studio when I was shopping this evening and decided to treat myself to it, to bring some of your zen spirit into my own studio!
What u said about right an left brain is so true. I think I'm going wrong with working by trying to do all the work stuff first to justify my time being creative, but then my creative side withers. Thanks for ur videos keeping me company 🙂
I love pumpkin carving , great fun doing it with my brother’s family this year. I did a butterfly face, though looked more butterfly than face by the time I finished. Love the Elizabeth Gilbert quote, going to put up on my studio wall. Thanks for sharing
How lovely the message and the visual was for this post. It's fabulous in that your relationship with James in the relationship, business and adventures of the heart or EBB and FLOW like the Sea. I enjoy every post and cherish your knowledge, insight and beauty of another artist's world. x's to You and James as always.
I love everything you say and I wish I can find my balance, but my art is still to dependent on my mood swings. I can paint and draw a lot and then suddenly stop for months (sometimes, like in this moment, years). This was a really bad thing for my consistency on patreon and I felt it was better to close it. I finally chose therapy to dive deep into this emotional link and it's working, I'm slowly coming back to my creative power; but every time I think about showing up on social media, re-opening pateron and so on I feel afraid and I panic. I guess I have to take my time! ;) thanks for your tips, tricks & warm hugs
I am so much like you in the fact that I need to have order in my life but at the same time I like to respond to life with spontaneity so I don't do well with rigid time frames. I also have found lately that I have backed away from my online posting and feel much more withdrawn right now. As you call it, a time to percolate! I have found that this is my natural order anyway...to sometimes be putting things out into the world and other times be sitting back observing and taking things in! This seems to the organic process of creation for me. And I also have the same response to my creativity in that if I don't go to it first thing in the morning and instead get wrapped up in something else..whether it be paying bills, checking social media or cleaning the house...then I have a hard time getting into the flow of creativity.😕 Quiet alone time is essential to productivity! Have a beautiful weekend Luv! I thoroughly enjoyed my cuppa with you this bright and sunshiny morning!🙏💙🌞☕🌺🤸♀️🤸♀️🤸♀️
Good evening Wendy, I love watching you and James carving pumpkin 🎃 together, hope you both had a lovely hollwen. As always thank you for sharing, keep your light bright soft hugs Teresa xx
Hi Wendy-- I was wondering if you deal with the pressure to make your art sell-able, that you have to have items to put in your shop, and how that affects your process? For myself, I've felt a lot of pressure to make art that is Instagrammable or look pretty, and that ended up making me freeze right up. Now I've taken a step back to focus more on the process and how it feels with no pressure to show anyone anything. I can make crappy art that just feels good to make. I am so impressed by the art you make, and was just wondering if you have any of that pressure and how you deal with it.
Hi Theresa I was just telling Wendy about Julia Bausenhardt who covers alot of what you are talking about..might give you some ideas. I think artists are trying to do too much these days..trying to be all to everyone. Instead of dropping a couple of social media platforms who make more money out of the artist than they do...cheers from Western Australia 🦘🦘🦘
Thank you Wendy for being open with your process. Your message today really hit home. My daughter & I have an online shop too that has become so busy lately...just the 2 of us, a lot to keep up with, + online content. You offered many helpful ideas for creatives. Very important to have separate creative time just for you (off camera). I find I really have remind myself to make this priority (similar to your art dates, weekends off sketching with James) finding your balance, listening to your needs, is different each day. diet, walks, rest, journaling really help me too. Appreciate all you do! 🤗💗
Lovely video as always. I have been on the no plan plan since the beginning of September. I always enjoy a cup of tea with you every Friday. Love the pumpkins too. Xx
Gratitude and appreciation for our Friday visits with you. It is a lovely blessing to hear about your life flow and see your fun pumpkin carving. Mahalo nui loa (great big thanks).
Thank you so much for this. I've had a huge block in my creative flow the last couple of months. I've ordered Gilbert's book at the library--can't wait for some more help in unblocking the flow. I so enjoy your videos...they bring calm and joy to my day. Greeting from Canada.
I find that trying to make money from being an artist, I spend about 10% of my time making art and the other 90% doing admin etc...and I'm not that good at posting to social media either! Unfortunately I think I'm also going to have to find a part time job as well...
I like to plan Wendy with a pocket diary for next year and I got myself a weekly planner pad too for projects. I have an A5 week to view planner this year and it's just too big for me.. I love watching bullet journaling but it's not for me I like it all laid out for me in an already week to view diary in the shops. I have been procrastinating its that time of year I make the bed and crawl back in sometimes. Sweet pumpkins and pretty flowers artwork. Love and hugs 💜
Wendy thank your for your beautiful videos. I would love it if you could possibly make notebooks and canvas bags with some of your art on them. I would love to get a few of each. The bags would be great for shopping. Just something for you to think about. Hi to James. Loved tea with you … stay well 🙏🏻💜
I totally get what you described about getting self conscious when painting on camera. I really struggle with that, too. I often feel pressure to create content and push myself to film even when I don’t really want to. 😩 Thanks for another lovely video, Wendy! Lots of love from Oregon! - Tara Kate 💖
It is hard for me to find my dreams now. I am 76, got ill, had to give up driving and had to move to a bigger city where I only know a handful of people. How does one make new dreams at my age.
Start by giving yourself time to recover and take it easy you have been through an illness I'm sorry to hear you have been ill its much safer off the roads you will settle feel safer again in your world and slowly and surely if you have the will you will start back your hobbies in small ways don't give up I have had cancer for the 4th time recurrences I hold on to doing my artwork on days I can sending you healing feelings of safety and hope again to start to make your dream come true in small ways ask for help if you have to 💜
Sending you hugs 🤗 blessings healing, sorry you have been ill, take small steps. I think we have to reconsider all the issues you have survived and feel gratitude you have managed to move and do know at least a handful of people, it’s a start. Creat a small list of things you would like to accomplish, be realistic look at what you would love to do before you may get older. Look at all you have achieved in your life, be proud of yourself. Self compassion and kindness to your self every day is a great start. 🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴🇬🇧🇯🇲
When you said after you do admin type stuff you find it hard to switch to right brain creating I had an aha. I often tell myself I have to get the left brain things done before I create but then I don't create because you are so right it is hard to switch to right brain work. I want to pay attention to this and see if my creating goes better. Thank you Wendy!
Hello, I love that you know our song! 🤗 😁 Loved the video, great job on the 🎃! James is a great carver. Halloween is of course my favorite time of the year. 😘
Wendy you are a very sweet person and you bring light to our lives I read oracle cards by Colette Baron Reid I would like to read some oracle cards for you as you known oracle cards are not for future they are more what is going on right now if I can gift you with a 3 card reading which you interpret unless I get a feeling then with your permission I will let you know. Please delete if inappropriate because I don’t do this as a business )use as gifts
with having stage 4 pancreatic cancer my ex hubby who's probably my best friend has a camera on me at all times so i get it sometimes his voice will come through asking me what art work i'm working on , it's a little creepy having a camera on u 24/7
Thank you for sharing:) I enjoy and look foreword to see what you come up with every week, Its very inspiring. It makes me be more creative and to figure out how things work. And you talk about some really great topics, finding out about social media and being an artist. Its not easy at all, but its important to have som fun and enjoy the process like you say:) I also like to spend time with my art, but sometimes its really difficult to concentrate and sometimes its difficult combining with social media. When to be on and off and not to be at all. Thank you so much!!! You are doing a great job:)!!! What you have created is amazing:)
Hi Wendy, I've found a new warm drink is called MUD. The ad says it is like Chai tea and hot chocolate had a baby. I love the taste and its made from mushrooms and spices. I bring it up here as a substitute for coffee and I have heard you say that you'd like to stop drinking the coffee sometimes. (I don't get any money or anything for this). Here's some Mud in your eye *clink*! As always I love watching snippets of your life and work. My husband and I dream of coming to England and perhaps then I could buy you a cuppa something. Stay warm and much love.
Great pumpkins there folks...a little bit of Hannibal Lecter coming out there James 🤭 Wendy I was watching another artist UA-camr tonight who was discussing the prose and cons of social media (I hope its ok to give you her name.. Julia Bausenhardt) and she has decided she is much better off having now given up social media except UA-cam and her website I think. She found she was in a better place, more relaxed and more creative and had more time for her own art etc. I wonder if this might suit you too. Afterall from what I hear those other accounts take a fair wack of your profits and you are doing all the work. You find you are nit inspired or dont have the inclination, are too tired etc (so many artists seem to have similar complaints). So many obligations to your committments you dont have time to work or do your own thing in peace. As you say the camera is always on...we wont think any the less of you if you turn it off occasionally...happy creating....regards and cheers 🍵from Western Australia 🦘🦘🦘🦘🥰
Green juice - yep enjoying that and this video
I was really struggling with my productivity and focus for a long time but since I started prioritising what I love, I am getting so much done now, in every area.
Lovely video thanks. I'm watching Elizabeth Gilbert TED Talk again 'Your elusive creative genius' and I'll look out for the book. Have a cosy November! x
I'm burn out too and I procrastinate everything I do or need to do ! Ha love your videos !
More, more, more! Love it when you and James show your fun times together ❤️
You are both two of most amazing people I binge watch as often as possible!
Delightful to watch you both. Xx great pumpkin carving.
Loved this video. Those butterflies are magical! Nice pumpkins too!!!
Thankyou for your lovely videos xx love to you both ❤
I also paint and colour in books to ease my anxiety, it is extremely relaxing x
I had never heard of Diamond painting so I looked it up and now I'm intrigued. Thank you
Hey Wendy and James, lovely scary pumpkins! Namaste'.

Hello Wendy and James.Your butterflies, flowers, and girls are interesting and beautiful! Thanks for sharing footage of the pretty fall rain and your fun pumpkin carvings. It’s the little things that make life worth living. Autumn hugs to you from Texas.🌻

I so enjoyed the rainy drive home with you Wendy and watching the pumpkin carving... Bonza video 😁

Thanx for this video Wendy and James! Your advise was very rich... and your pumpkin creating time was adorable.
Love your pumpkins! Chad and I put up some floating candles like the ones from Harry Potter on our porch for the trick-or-treaters. :)

Loved tea with you … stay well 🙏🏻💜
Funny you should say that as James has been designing bags and notebooks for the past few weeks! However did you know! 😃😃🫖🫖🎃🎃
@@theunexpectedgypsy well I guess great minds think alike! 🙏🏻💜🥰
Brilliant!!

Just what I needed was sweet talk today. Thank you
awww, lovely, happy weekend xxx loads of love x
When you said after you do admin type stuff you find it hard to switch to right brain creating I had an aha. I often tell myself I have to get the left brain things done before I create but then I don't create because you are so right it is hard to switch to right brain work. I want to pay attention to this and see if my creating goes better. Thank you Wendy!
I loved your Halloween pumpkins. I love pumpkin soup and roasted pumpkin too. Arohanui xxx

Loved watching you two make your pumpkins for Halloween.
Greetings from Brighton
Hahah! We had such fun! Many greetings to you in lovely Brighton!!! xxxxx
Thank you so much, xx no it's not easy but yes, it's def fun!! You put it so well xxx Happy weekend to you! xx

Great pumpkins there folks...a little bit of Hannibal Lecter coming out there James 🤭
Wendy I was watching another artist UA-camr tonight who was discussing the prose and cons of social media (I hope its ok to give you her name..
I have the same problem with my hands. So frustrating
Yes it’s hard sometimes 😙🎈♥️♥️

Perhaps you know that when we leave our artwork 80/90% finished it's because we don't really want to let it go. I'm guilty, guilty, guilty of this!
Hahahh! Maybe, although for me I think it's more a procrastination thing and wanting to move onto the next thing straight away!! Impatient you see! xx
🎃👍💗🇨🇱
