Awesome story
Great for racing yeah. Better options out there for the street tho
Slat 6 225 was a favorite of mine ❤
Went to Dodge school.what does that tell ya.Sweet,Ed!
There was also a big, hardened lump of oil/grease in every parking spot.
Barry I want to build a v8 60 and my question is should I stay away from the tin side 37 motor? I have a later v8 60. Maybe a question for Steve? Trying to to invest in the best motor Thanks
Okay I'm sorry but I got to be I'll be respectful as I can this guy's got Alzheimer's or he's just smoking something he shouldn't be on some nice as I can be because this guy's full of s*** I can take an engine and run it without rings and it will start and it will run as good as smoke like hell and it's not going to be flawlessly perfect every cylinder is going to have a different compression because the rings are for uniformity it's about uniformity among the cylinders to make sure everything every cylinder is close to the same as possible okay this guy here I don't know I thought he knew something but he doesn't know anything
Agreed! I had that 10qt pan on my 454 in a 1977 Aristocrat, Sleekcraft with a American turbine pump A impeller. Ran 5400 rpm all day, engine was just mild.
Dark spots are an indication that there is a significant bump in the roadway ahead now, a place where drips that have formed are forced free by the inertia of suspension compression.
They moved the stud locations on the 24 studs don't they?
Man I'm kinda jealous of the US, find shops that do this stuff in the UK (especially if like me you've got a flathead V8 in and old truck) is suck a pain in the ass.
When Japanese precision machining flooded the American market, the low quality of workmanship in American cars was revealed. Toyotas didn't leak oil just out of the showroom. Those dark lines in the road existed because Ford and GM had the market to themselves, and they tacitly agreed to not go to the expense of keeping tigh tolerances in their motors and transmissions.
If it wasn't for Alexander Winton , Packard would have never built cars.
Thats how I had my 2021 ram 6.7 cummins hooked up
Love all those tricks. I think Bob Cup. Loves those Q Jets.
455 Olds anyday! 303 over Stovebolt or straight 8!
U forget the 63 Tempest 421!

Timing is fast
Your the man
Idk the math but the piston speed is not twice cam shaft rotation, as the cam rotates and the piston reciprocates and the piston goes from Zero mph to Peak mph at half stroke. Valves run off the cam lobe (similar-ish movement to the crankshaft ) But i would guess you could effectively match the valve speed to piston speed depending on ramp up and down of the cam.
A regrind removes a bit of the cam to clean it up there’s no way it’s just as good. You intentionally remove material from the base circle so there’s no way it’s the same lift and duration it might be minute but it’s there.
Ah yes, back when they built cars "right" 😂, no silly computers or plastics here, no sir! So much better than modern tomfoolery!
030 over is 377 Stock bore is 372
Schneider cams are badass
The man knows his 💩 you know how to tune it and it performs great I love the sound of the secondary opening it's like Ed would be on his death bed getting his last breath haha keep up the good work making videos and have a blessed day today 🙏
My first truck had one like that. Had totally forgotten about those things
In my old days we always said lose is fast. We have more oil. Just Say'n
I have 99 Mustang GT quarter turn always
If you call cam grinders in tacoma Washington they will grind you any cam for under 200
My 482 Cadillac engine runs great with a rejeted quadrajet with a 270 dur cam
I'll build a 377 over a 383. And often over a 406. The 377 on dirt wraps well. Easier to maintain traction. And you can spin it 8200 all day long. It gives you a broad rpm range so you can gear to the track conditions. This is all smaller tracks not 1/2 mile. But they are a great combo
This guy should write a book of all his knowledge!!! I dont want his knowledge to be lost when this good old gear head passes !!!!!
You should have 5 thousands of gap for every inch of bore so a 4 inch should have 18 to 20 thou on the top ring
.004 per every inch of bore size. According to Total Seal .and Hastings. Example 4 inch bore× .004= .016.
Yeah I used to do it it really to your advantage thanks Ed I can't thank you enough for bringing back real hot rod tricks we did in the sixtys especially you are the master please show our youth what we did with what we had
Ed can make it work🎯😎☕
Will you show us some of the race car cam stuff
Always wondered how these V8s worked with 3 carbs on them
The 351 Cleveland DOES NOT use 460 motor mounts or bell housing
We want some hats and shirts
Ok - I hear you. For now you can buy a hat on ebay - search barryts 👍
@ excellent thanks for everything you guys are awesome 👏
I got a Q-jet waiting for my 318 to get finished up at the machine shop. One of the best carburetors that will work on several different applications
How about on an EFI motor 1991 E350? Will the ECU go bonkers?
Great question - I’ll ask Ed! 👍
Ok Ed i have to telling I dont have a clue what is a seasoned camshaft anyway
ALL OF MY Grandparents and parents cars were environmental disasters 😅😂🤣 EVERYTHING LEAKED!
Well ... we keep learning. That's a good thing.
“You can’t bore this engine over, here’s a over bored engine to prove you can’t do it” all engines have a limit to how much you can bore them out before you’ve compromised something, a bolt hole/sealing surface in this case, block or sleeve thickness in others.
Wouldn't you like to spend some time with guy in his shop. Legendary car guy
Ed is great
central float bowl make them great for off-road 4 wheeling.
I'll ask Ed about that!
If you ever have one or two for sale. I’d love to buy them
Good old Ford Flathead, one of Ford's finest
Qjets are great carbs, just misunderstood and a little different to tune compared to a Holley.
That is a very good point - they're not exactly simple!
