    There's a couple things wrong with this picture if we are talking $60k. First of all, why is it a 90's 1pc. Rear main seal block ? Did any aftermarket ever even make a Siamese bore 1 pc seal block ? Where does the money all go because half of that will get you way more motor with a big block.

    the 350 and 400 transmissions we designed and produced in the mid 60s the 350 was dropped in the mid 80s but the 400 carried on to 1990. 2 of the best GM transmissions ever built. and the garbage they make now is just plain insanity. properly serviced them old transmissions can last well over 300k miles.

    I had a 63 fairlane, it in pennzoil. That broke up all of the sludge. Pulled the oil returns. Took it back to the macanic. He said get her hot. Pull the valve covers, run a wire through each side, get a garden hose with great pressure. Drain the oil, clear the 4 passages, let her sit for a couple of hours put in the oil ,install the valve covers, giver a new filter and fresh oil. Not pennzoil. It worked out I drove her from Washington to California no problems. Water in my oil system I'm a beliver.

    • @BarryTsGarage
      @BarryTsGarage 11 годин тому

      Thanks for your comment… But that’s actually just vapor from heating up the assembly lube. Also, interestingly, on a flathead like this, you could have a blown head gasket and it would just be exhaust fumes. There is no coolant running through the head.

    • @John-p3v4l
      @John-p3v4l 10 годин тому

      @@BarryTsGarage yeah hence a warped head. If it's hot enough to boil that lube off it got way too hot. But what do I know as a retired technician. Any type of lube won't start burning of till 350 degrees plus. You put assembly lube in the water pump.. you smoked that water pump seal too
