  • Easily the most important model in the Lexus lineup, the latest generation RX offers plenty of positives for buyers looking for a midsize luxury SUV. Just keep in mind that some competitors are sportier to drive but its hard to beat the level of smoothness and comfort that this latest RX 350 delivers on.

    This car is beautiful looking car. This generation Lexus executed a flawless design. I had the RX 350L 2019 as a loaner, it did have a lot of body roll. But the car was fun to drive at least for me. The Audio system was amazing. The cabin felt like complete luxury.

      justin It's a Rebadged Toyota Highlander and in my opinion it's hideous and it isn't that great of a product, it's for middle aged housewives who's children have left the nest and maybe an older female middle school principal

    • @2isadventures
      @2isadventures 8 років тому +13

      Leonardo Just because it's on the same platform as the Highlander, doesn't mean its one. Hence the resson they left 3rd row seating out. The looks of the car looks nothing like Highlander. Especially the interior. Funny how everyone pulls that "its a rebaged Toyota" excuse out. No one said anything when Mercedes-Benz or Maserati was with Daimler(Chrysler/Fiat), but I do respect your opinion.

      well, yes it uses the same chassis and i have no issue with that SO LONG AS they offer a unique interior architecture (this does have) a unique driving feel (this does have) unique switch gear (this does have) better sound dampening (this does have) unique interior materials (this does have) and a unique design (this does have).

    Yeah Rah - Other commentators have not been so blatantly honest about the RX as a cocooning, comfortable, luxury, not-engaging-to-drive SUV with just enough power and torque. There must be enough buyers who don't want to hear the words sport/sporty/engaging - RX sells 2 to 3 times as many as any of the other luxury SUV models. Great review!

    I had a lot of driving anxiety, especially in heavy traffic until I bought my first preowned Lexus (2010 RX450H) five years ago. YES, this car feels like my home on the road and I can comfortably go kayaking camping in it. That car now has 250+ thousand miles on it. I recently purchased a 2016 RX350 with 69,000 miles and hope to get at least a quarter of a million miles on it as well. Still keeping my 2010 hybrid as my everyday drive and the 2016 as my night out/travel car. I am definitely and RX fan for life!

  • @barrydraper
    @barrydraper 4 роки тому +14

    Dude, lets correct a couple mistakes here. Lexus does NOT recommend premium gasoline. It clearly states regular 87 octane. Premium won't hurt or help it. It's not a high compression engine. Next, the Luxury Package wood trim does not have "pinstriping". That's laser cut aluminum strips of metal, embedded into the wood and clear coated over.
    I have a 2016 RX350 Luxury package (same vehicle as 2017) and love everything about it. The best thing is it's paid for. This is definitely a keeper.

      @Evan Morrison I have had this car for a little more than 3 years now. I only want to speak of the experience from myself, and try to be fair. I don't like to writer reviews since everybody's taste is different. first of all, the car is very beautiful, it is still good looking till today and I still receive compliments from people once a while. It is very very very smooth, quiet when I drove between 20 -40mph (I would think it is this range), especially 20s, 30s, It is so smooth and quiet. when I drove about 80mph, it is not very quiet, but, I would say, it is not very loud either. I heard some people said the noise depends on the road surface and tires as well. over the years, I had some issues with the car, and sometimes really bothers me, maybe it is just my car? some hissing sound from my glove box, I am very sure it is the switch. when the surface is rough, and speed is around 40s, it is unbearable. I have been to two different local lexus dealer few times (probably 4-5 times) and they could not figure it out. sometimes no hissing sound at all. I just open the glove box all time when I drive. little cracking(maybe hissing) sound here and there once a while. I think some the internal material is kinda a little bit cheap plastic looking and thin, probably that is why some times light cracking noise came out somewhere? I am kind of very picky person when talking about driving with noise, so sometimes really bothers me. Just try test drive and try on rough surface. I personally still like this car though.

    Kinda missed the whole point, that this auto is quality and reliability NOT sport.....You didn't mention quality once. Also, you compare it numerous times to the sporty Jaguar and even mention the broken down things on that car. This particular Lexus does what is intended better than any other hence the record sales numbers. Based on your review if a car is not sporty it is mostly worthless. .. Review is Slanted and Lacking....
    ....oh by the way; I AM a fan and love most reviews. This is just my opinion today. Thanks for providing.
    ( also, the RX is EXTREMELY quiet with super sound insulation, sound deadening windshield, and double pane front side windows; this auto is luxury not sport )

      We're pretty sure we mentioned the multiple times how smooth, quiet, and refined it is, interior quality was also talked about and we even had it as one of our top 5 favorite features in our Redline First Impression video. We also talked about how its mission is to be all those things and sporty isn't one of them. If you want sporty, we'd happily recommend an MDX, F-Pace, GLC, X5, etc.

      Redline Reviews // Thanks for the personal reply; you did mention smooth, quiet and reliable at least once but dogged it five times for every compliment for not being sporty. You did, however, say that this Lexus just wasn't your 'cup of tea' so I felt like it never had a chance in this forum. I guess it is obvious that I own this car. But, having also owned a 2015 BMW SUV and a 2014 Mercedes SUV, this car by far is tops. I don't race them; I just drive them. Neither here nor there, love the review, catch most every one, keep up the good work. You are providing information that we cannot get at the dealers. Your reviews are a great asset. Thanks.

She says she is seeing a waviness. She said she does not see it at night, only during the day. Brought the car brand new & has driven it for about 150 miles. She also checked other RX 350 models on the lot & has the same problem. She said she tried a RX 450 & it was much better but she still saw the problem. I told her she should just return the car to the dealer ship. BTW we live in HI.

I think Ford and Lincoln has them beat on technology and rear seat features.

    I would still buy the car wit the body rolls. The average buyer doesn’t really care to much but can do without it. The Lexus RX is the champions of the Luxury SUV Crossover segment. Which includes Mercedes GLE 350 BMW X5 and Audi Q5. It is regular crosshipped with those cars. Not really Acura MDX. Lexus IS in a different lane. And are the number one Japanese luxury brand.

      I cross-shopped the RX and MDX when we bought my wife's vehicle. (She chose the RX). When I replace my MDX, it'll be either a newer MDX or RX.

    the rear design is for drag reduction not just style. the most aero design is a water droplet shape. the more a car looks like that the more efficiently it goes through air. so a swept back rear like a droplet.

    Those thigh-bolsters, though. I’m 5-9 165 lbs, and a small frame. When I sit in those sport seats I sit on top of those bolsters unless I squeeze my knees together, which just defeats the purpose and just feels weird. Who wants this in a sports luxury vehicle ?
    While shopping used Rx350’s F Sport I’ve noticed that those thigh-bolsters are typically smashed or wrinkled , so I certainly can’t be the only one.

    This was the worst review I have ever seen... "Lexus is behind" because they don't have cylinder deactivation, or start stop... NO. All that garbage brakes, and Lexus wants to make RELIABLE cars. Also this is not a sports car. Stop bashing it for being "numb". Don't listen to anything this guy says.

    For a redline review how didn’t he go over interior isolation / noise levels - which is trademark of Lexus suppose to differentiate itself to others.
    I remember in 1989 my friend took me for a ride in his dads new q45 and it was so quiet and impressively fast but especially quiet

    i don't mind cylinder deactivation, but i hate that start stop technology. it's a bit laggy at times. i understand people want better gas mileage, but there's gotta be better way to do it than that. i like all the other safety features, but i barely use adaptive cruise control.

    Honestly, the 2017 Highlander Limited Platinum is a better vehicle for slightly less money than a fully trimmed and optioned out RX350. More space, way more tow power, 3rd row seating, less money. Just lacks that *badging*.
