Nice. Beaut fish. It's strange that fisherman forget that most fish love structure, shade and food falling off bushes and trees. We have a huge problem with blackberries in Australia but even these, when removed the fish move with them. It's nice to slow down and see trees etc as just another piece in the puzzle to sort out with a fly rod. Love your channel, very different to our trout fishing!! Cheers from downunder. PP
Alltid lika trevligt att se dina filmer :) 2023 blir 9onde året man åker till mörrum, förhoppningsvis året man lyckas få upp en lax där med. 😊 tappade 1 i maj så man närmar sig förhoppningsvis 😃
I’ve noticed that in your videos, you tend to cast at a relatively narrow angle, often downstream at around 45 degrees. I haven’t seen you cast directly at a 90-degree angle to the other side. It appears that most of the successful casts with fish are within that 45-degree downstream range. Is this observation accurate, and do you recommend this approach? Of course, this could vary based on the river’s speed. Thank you for providing such fantastic content!
Hi, The best thing is, of course, to vary the throw angle, which I actually try. Especially during the salmon fishing in May. The salmon tend to bite on fast fished flies while the sea trout in general want it to go slower. /John
"experter" tog grävmaskiner till min hemmaälv för att rädda sidoflöden inför lek osv. Under 4 år efter grävningarna minskade snittet på fisken och antal landade rejält... Får en att fundera. Personligen tror jag att naturen sköter sig ganska snyggt själv tills våra "experter" tror sig veta bättre.
Happy Christmas Dr John! Lovely fish and fantastic river you have there
Well said DrJohn, Salmon like structures and somewhere to hide from the current and predators of course. Happy Christmas and tightlines for 2023 👊

Hey John, nice Video. Like watching you while fishing in Mörrum.
What rod lenght and class do you use for sections like this?
Best regards Arne
Hi! In the summer and fall when the water is low I use a 12.6 ft rod line #8-9 /John

Nature does it best and rivers should remain as natural as possible.
True words!
