  • This time we do all we can to prolong the life of a plastic motor during extreme centrifugal forces, friction and vibration. We found out that the connecting rods were the ones to fail and there was to way we could reinforce that.

    Vegetable oil weakens the Lego plastic. You should use a silicon based lubricant instead.

    • @Septfox
      @Septfox 7 років тому +12

      This was what I was just thinking. It'd be a better overall lubricant and stay where it's useful longer, too.

      I once used sunflower oil to oil one of my toys when I was like 5 years old. It got stuck after few days and my dad had to clean all the oil out of it in order to make it working again. Vegetable oil lubrication NEVER AGAIN.

      Roy Hess . It’s not meant to work, it’s meant to explode. It would be harder to make it really run. You would need to hook the crank shaft up with the cams that run the valves. It’s much more complicated than you think.

    I will say one thing is that you could try and go through making it more close to how an engine should be. Such as having it capable of flicking oil to its crank, balancing it and having a harmonic balancer, and have it with 2-4 pistons. I wonder how it would work if you had an oil pan for it

    Give all pieces (exept for piston) a full coat of Line-X
    Line-X is a spray that will make breakable things unbreakable, if you didnt know.
    Then make a mold for the piston, then fill the mold with melted iron, then heat it up, after you should have a iron piston that probably wont break, and please do this so it can go to the max max speed 30,000 rpm or if you can, get a even faster one that will go over 30,000 rpm. Then we'll all see the real max rpm for a piston.
    Please make this video become a reality.
    P.s i dont know where you're gonna find Line-X spray.

    I built my own Lego engine, a bit bigger than the one used in the video. As I had two cylinders with pistons, in the highest RPM it works well, but when I added the third one, its started blowing up. Probably because my crankshaft is too loose and everything vibrates too much in high RPM. I will work on it, Maybe someday I will record a video of my Lego engine.

    I have a suggestion for you. Make a little hole of some kind that gives you access to the inside of the engine (connecting rods and the crankshaft) while the engine is running.
    Then, use WD40 and when the engine is running spray WD40 into the engine every couple of seconds.
    You can also use vegetable oil in a window sprayer.
